- I got a call from a good friend about a maple tree that had fallen in a storm. To my surprise, the tree in question was a Flame Box Elder with many surprises to be found in side.

4th like, Todd. I love that bowl. You mentioned ‘flame’. I’ve just used a stain called flame on the outside of a bowl. At least my granddaughter liked it 🌞
Thanks so much my friend ✌️
Absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for a great job on your Bowl 🥣 I like.
Thank you! 😊

Lucky you to have a friend to give you such beautiful wood and lucky friend to have you to turn it into a keepsake bowl to cherish!
Yes, thank you 🙂

Thank you my friend
Awesome outcome!
Thanks my friend ✌️
Very nice job. Box Elder looks great but seems to go punky really quickly.
Thank you, and yes most pieces of box elder that I’ve worked with have some punkyness to them
Another great job.
I appreciate that, thank you ✌️
Very well done! Beautiful bowl.

Thank you very much!
Beautiful work, and a gorgeous piece of wood! Maybe I would have used a lighter color filler for the knothole and the bug holes.
I can relate, I do often like to emphasize the flaws though 🙂
Very beautiful and you did a great job turning it as well!!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you so much!
@@dukaheritage9445 You're very welcome and keep up the great work!!!
Wow!
Oh my goodness! That grain is beautiful! What an amazing gift!!!
The color in that is unbelievable! Nice to see you are still using that old converted fridge for a kiln. 👍
Rule #1 dry your wood before turning it. That way you don't have to worry about it cracking after you turn it.
Rule #2 remove all the bark so it doesn't rot off later.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Looks really good!
Thank you ✌️
You just earned my subscription mate, loved the video, got to watch it again with my sound on though lol 😊
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome!
Thanks!
What a beautiful bowl from the flaming box elder. The grain and the spalting is amazing. Great job my friend. I love that you always say love you at the end of your video.
Thank you very much! 😊
Beautiful piece. So glad to see you are back online. I have missed your ability to combine your physical talents with your design talents.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful! 😎
Thank you! 😊
Gorgeous! I don't think I've ever seen this wood grain before, and was really surprised at how colorful it was. I really enjoyed watching those colors being revealed as you applied the finishes. I also like that you leave a little "touch" of the outer tree layer in the piece - that adds interest, and I'm glad you mentioned it.
The color is caused by a fungus , and when it dies the colors fade . I have not heard of any way to keep it
Thank you very much!
From something to “really something”!! Beautiful work.
Thank you so much my friend ✌️
Love the flame. Too bad you were not able to core that piece. Nesting bowls like that are hard to find.
Hopefully I can pick up a bowl saver soon, I have a lot of big burls that I’d hate to waste.
Excellent work my good man... Good to have you back my friend 😉
Thank you kindly my friend 🙂
Looks great!
Thank you!
Beautiful bowl, Todd. She should be very happy with it. It's great to see more content from you these days, too.
Bill

Save those long shavings and put them in some resin and make a plate and cup to go with the bowl
That’s a really great idea actually, would be cool to make a smaller place setting set like that from a larger serving bowl!! Thank you 😊
Beautiful work on a beautiful piece of Box Elder

Beautiful piece. Wish I could get that lucky
Thank you my friend, make sure that all your friends know that your interested in whatever wood they may want to get rid of, you’ll be surprised the calls you get after storms :)
At some point when you're ready a little explanation of what happened or where you have been would be appropriate. Thee bowl is amazing. But I stop short if patrion as it feels like you are moments away from amazing things.
Gorgeous wood. Great work. Terrific bowl. Well done!
Thank you very much!
It’s a lovely piece, nice to have you back
Thank you 🙏
Simplement superbe. C'est toujours agréable de voir tes réalisations. Dommage que je comprends pas l'anglais......
Thank you my friend
That turned out really nice?
Thank you so much 😊
Nice piece! I haven’t seen your videos in a while. Looks like a new lathe in the shop?
Yes my friend much has changed, new lathe, new shop.
What part of the country did this log come from ? I have access to western US Box Elder but I've never seen this type. Stunning !
I think it's not so much the part of the country, as it is the growing conditions. The red is a fungus infection, the black lines are same but a different fungus . Red is in living wood, black is on the edge of dead wood where it's starting to decompose. I think it's much more common in damp locations. I have cut trees on stream banks that all had the red pattern and trees from field shelter belts that had none . The red will turn grey with time , I've seen comments from people who have tried lots of ways to keep it but nothing worked . I have found that one side of the black lines will be very soft and tear out and uneven sanding is a problem. I have a lot cut and stored , just waiting till I can afford a vacuum stabilizing system
Thank you 😊 This is from eastern pa.
Nice video!! Very engaging from the begining to the End. To obtain financial freedom, one must either be a business owner, an investor or both, generating passive income, particularly on a monthly basis.
I agree with you and believe that the secret to financial stability is having the right investment ideas to enable you earn more money, I don't know who agree with me but either a way I recommend real estate or crypto and stock.
Crypto is bringing a different revolution in the world economy, people who are optimistic investors earn consistently. others will just sit and watch!.
How can someone know a professional account manager that is trustworthy when legit once are hard to find this days. Because my portfolio has been going down the drain while I try trading, I just don't know what I do wrong!
Yes I'm also a living testimony of expert Mrs Jane. Mrs Jane has changed my financial status for the best all thanks to my aunty who introduced her to me
Accessing good information is what we investors need to progress financially and generally in life. This is a good one and I appreciate it.
