    That milky white resin is a refreshing change of pace. 90% of turners seem to choose blue. Good job!

    Hi Todd, 555th like. I love that bowl, not least because I’ve just used some white resin to fill cracks in a piece of 350 year old oak beam which I turned into a vase. It’s so interesting to watch a craftsman at work and pick up a little of their talent. As always, thank you for sharing 🌞

    I use Carbide tools all the time especially when I went with the negative Rake Square. Tools 🔧 I mainly make pens 🖊 but I also make bowls 🥣 I was having trouble with some of my pens blowing up and when I switched negative Rake Carbide cutters I haven't had any more problems since then. Oh again great job on your Bowl 🥣

      Thank you, the carbide was nice to hog out the hollowing but it definitely needed finishing passes with a gouge and the lightest touch with a bowl scraper. 🙂✌️

      Thank you 🙏 The wood bowl finish is a drying oil, it’s recommended that you wet sand in between coats. I ended up using 3 coats, I leveled the finish with the ultra fine scotch brite (600g) and then polished it with the Yorkshire Grit (2000g +) 🙂

    Todd that Apple wood bowl looks great really like the dark brown and mixed with the resin you chose for it couldn't be better especially like the black wood the way it all blends together . I always love what you can discover when you turn a piece of wood the creator knew what he was doing .Just really stunning . I wanted to ask you about your new lathe ,maybe in day or 2 on Instagram if you have a some time . Your friend Henry ,keep up the great work .

    Didn’t think it would turn out that good. I liked the white epoxy, my wife didn’t, she said to much contrast in colour. Possibly red or blue a bit see through instead of solid.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Did you think about coring the bowl.

    • @dukaheritage9445
      @dukaheritage9445  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you, I’m definitely more of a contrast kind of guy when it comes to design. A coring system is definitely on my list, I have many much larger burls that I won’t touch until I can fully process them.

    Beautiful bowl!!! Question about the Yorkshire Grit usage. I thought it was supposed to be used before you put finish on it (other than a sanding sealer)? And then you would put your finish over the top of it. Maybe it's just an alternative usage of it. Just trying to learn as I just got my first can of it the other day.

    • @dukaheritage9445
      @dukaheritage9445  Год назад +1

      Thank you, in this case I was just using it is a high grit polish. The wood bowl finish is a drying oil, when wiping or brushing drying oils, there can be some brush marks left behind, I cut it level with the ultra fine scotch brite and brought the luster back up with the YG kinda like polishing a clear coat on a vehicle. ✌️
