I first played it on the N64 back in the 90s, so i do have a lot of affection for that one, but yeah, my favorite is the Dreamcast. It just looks so darned good!

@soundofreality Ports? The PS1 version is the port. It came out on N64 almost a year before the PS.

I like the n64 version because the way it looks and cutscenes didn't transition like the ps1 and had little to no loading screens which is unique for it's time. However I'm going based off the only versions I played so that's why I didn't mention the others.

PS2 version very good too despite flaws
The version I played when I was younger was the 3DS one, and gotta say it worked phenomenally. The 3D worked so well for the game, and it's not bad looking.
But honestly, I think the best version is the Dreamcast one

My favorite is the PS1, despite being a demake compared to N64 and Dreamcast with shorter levels and less fireflies, its because the nostalgia.

They didn't respect the 3DS aspect ratio. The top screen is 16:10, not 16:9.

Its rather interesting that aside from the game boy color version every version are fundamentally the same game but look slightly different from one another.

Had the N64 version. I really just love soundtrack on the N64 more, even if people prefer the presence of more instruments in other versions. I just like how the N64 handled its samples.
And yeah, I do prefer Raymonese in Rayman 2. The characters having speaking voices seems just a bit too jarring for me personally.

Dreamcast Version is obviously the best! And it has widescreen support! Don't know about the other systems though ...

@@TypezStrike It's a fun version though. You can play the PS2 version in widescreen, full HD on the PS2 emulator which makes it look as sharp as on PC and the Dreamcast.

@@FumoReimuGaming when Sony releases the revamped PS Plus this July it'll bring backwards compatibility for PS1, 2, and 3 which means we'll probably get stuff like Revolution, Hoodlum Havoc, Rush, Brain Games (hopefully), etc.

La versión de PC salió casi al mismo tiempo que la de N64, aunque el juego se hizo originalmente para esta y luego surgieron los demás ports o mejoras (DC y PS2 en particular)

Although it is very cropped, the Playstation 1 version graphically looks much better than the Nintendo DS version, which does not surprise me since the PS1 is more powerful than the Nintendo DS...in fact, I even see that it looks better than 3DS, the only bad thing is its absurd cuts since the PS1 could have had the entire Rayman 2 complete and without changes...

The best are Dreamcast, PS1, NDS and PS2 but PS2 is darker in colors then for me goes at the last. N64 version is like for every N64 game dark and muffled, is like see through a dirty and thick window.

Since im italian, im disappointed from the fact that the ps1 version is fully voice acted in italian while the ps2 version isn't (ok that the ps2 version has italian subtitles, but still)
I LIKE DREAMCAST AND PS2 VERSION
This is one of the best examples showing how much the Nintendo 64 was superior to Playstation. (It's interesting to note that even the Nintendo DS version is a little better than the PS1 version, especially in frame-rate)
in the game boy color version it was better than the first game, with a better soundtrack, the PlayStation is good but it has jagged graphics, the DS is ok, Nintendo 64 is much better in textures and framerate, in 3ds it's more of the same , but brighter, on dreamcast it has good graphics, on ps2 it has a little dark lighting, on pc it has superior quality.
But the Nintendo 64 usually didn't have voice acting or video scenes due to the cartridge size (unless they were really compressed), so the Playstation had many games with a more cinematic experience, like Resident Evil.
both the N64 and Playstation has it's ups and downs. The N64 had a pitiful storage space, leading to most games not having voice acting, fmv's, and overall storage. Which makes this a bane for RPG's and Story focused games.
The playstation on the other hand is a lot weaker leading to smaller level sizes. Also using discs equals more and lengthier loading times.
The major three consoles in this gen do have quality exclusives though. So all of them is worth coming back to.

I just can't play Rayman 2 on anything else than PC or Dreamcast version. The 3DS almost nailed it for me, but the audio just isn't good enough to play Rayman 2 as it deserves. And that's bullshit. There's probably not much care put into the sound quality of the 3DS version, because most people just play it with the 3DS' little speakers, but there could've came something great sounding out of the 3DS headphone-jack, but it was all jittery sounding, and that's a bloody shame.
I had the same issue with Rayman Origins on the 3DS, but that was even worse. I didn't mind the downgraded graphics on a little DS screen as long as the game played fine. But for some reason the audio had to be absolutely terrible low quality and weirdly cutten short/badly looping at times too.
Why can't Rayman just sound good on a simple handheld? T_T
