    I honestly thought that you just review budget and entry level enthusiast boards for content. I didn't know the Cream Sodas were a passion project of yours. I'm curious as to how you got to make your own switches, and at the same time, I'd also love to enter the GB to test those out myself. It sounds like a more affordable Chtulu with a good story to boot.

      Heyas! I got into making my own switches because I was looking for a switch I loved at a price I liked and I wanted it to be something I could share with the community. It took about 4 months to even get off the ground, a good chunk of money, and many sleepless nights working with the manufacturer and companies all over the globe. Also, while my channel is budget boards I do have a taste for some of the finer things in the hobby but the budget end of the space is what brings the most fun. I love finding inexpensive keyboards that deliver way more than one would expect. I do hope you pick up a set of Cream Sodas for yourself and that you'll love them. Thanks for the support!

    Even though I'm not a fan of thocc and prefer higher sounding switches i think these are really nice switch for more of creamy thocc, the zoo 65 sounded amazing :)

      That's the beautify of this switch. It has really nice mid clack in boards that are design to run without foam. Check out the F1 clips I took from Georen's stream for example.

    Just slightly higher pitched than hand lubed with 205g0. And 205g0 does that most of the time, to bring down the pitch levels. I guess we could just use these in stock form

      Indeed. If you're not interested in a slightly lower pitch then there really is no need to open them and lube them. They sound and feel amazing out of the package.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Nice that you picked these up. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. PC is going to be a tougher beast to get a similar sound profile since by default PC cases tend to be deeper. However, if you're looking for that nice foamy sound the Zoo has you can achieve something similar by using the foam trifecta (case, plate, PE) and a POM or PP plate.

    just got my cream soda switches in from keebhut! so far i like them stock, not loving them. mine sound soo different from your video. i will have to lube them later, i havent lubed switches in almost a year lol also for some weird reason these cream soda switches wont fit in my royal kludge keyboard. i tried my best but it wont fit into the plate. so weird, i have tried over 15 different switches and neve had this issue. but its ok i guess, i have other keyboards that fit the cream sodas fine.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      Glad to hear you got your switches. When listening to sound demos online you have to consider that my sound recording equipment and your processing/listening equipment will always alter the real life sound of a switch. Not to mention board configuration and, yes, the fact that my housings are lubed for one of the Zoo65 demos. I've put Cream Sodas in a bunch of boards with zero issue. Yes, some plates are tighter than others due to Gaterons newer molds, but it should still fit your plate. Might require some "encouragement". I put them into my iLovBee i68 super budget board just for fun with zero issues. Regardless, have fun and hope you enjoy them!

    Do you have any switches with a shorter travel distance? I have around 100 cream sodas and I have a large handful of switches that have a shorter travel distance. I'd say about at least 30 or so switches have this issue. I also found that a lot of them also have globs of lube on the spring which isn't really gaterons fault but is kind of annoying to clean off.

    Would you recommend a thicker film like THICC (0.22mm) over the Durocks?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      .15mm PC films are already quite tight. If its a compressible film, sure, but if using a hard material I wouldn't go any thicker.

    I got 90 of these recently and notice the stabs keycaps are slightly more wobbly compared to regular switch, but the travel distance of these are only 3.8mm compared to the more popular 3.5mm which is what most long pole stabs are designed for. Do you think using long pole stabs would be beneficial or I should just stick to regular stabs?

    • @punkshoo

      It will depend on the brand of keycaps.

      I was told GMK shouldn't have wobble on normal stabs but if your spacebar is a banana you might want to straighten it. Just make sure you're using shims or the appropriate stabs for your PCB thickness.

    Can we get a comparison to other switches like mx blacks and stuff?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      That's not something I am in a position to do. I would petition your favorite streamers to do a comparison. It would prove to be too costly, lengthy, and mostly unwatched piece of content on RUclips and I do not have the ability to make these comparisons live at the request of viewers so I'd be stabbing blindly into the dark. Georen did a couple of comparisons against PCPs and Zakus. It really would be best to catch a stream with them and ask. Realistically these do not compare to MX Blacks at all. They are totally different materials and spec.

    hello, I just picked up some DD jingle switches from chosfox, I'm really liking them (coming from gat reds), however I think (for me) they would be perfect if I was able to keep everything the same (two stage spring and all) but make the travel just slightly longer at 3.5mm. I was recommended to check out the creamsodas (apparently a 3.8mm travel?), so after doing a search this is the first video I've come across. Seems you're the creator of this switch too!? very cool. I'm interested in trying the CS out, being that you're the creator(?) I'm curious if you would be able to speak on how they compare to the DD switch? (again I'm really liking them, I just find myself wanting slightly more travel)

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      Hello and thanks for checking out the Cream Sodas. DDs are essentially a speed switch. Cream Sodas are more of a take on a subtle long pole experience and the pairing of two desirable Gateron housings. DDs use a nylon top and POM bottom. Cream Sodas use a proprietary blend for both the bottom and top housings. The top out will sound similar to nylon but a bit more muted. Ink bottoms are somewhere in the mid-clacky territory. As for feel, the DD switches are 11g lighter on the bottom out so the Cream Sodas are a bit heavier and because of the pole difference they bottom out later. Due to the nature of materials used paired with a high quality factory lubrication these switches are VERY smooth out of the package.

      @@punkshoo I'm definitely interested in trying them out. What are your thoughts if I found an 18-20mm spring with 50g weight instead of 63g?? Swapped them out and added a film.
      Thank you for such a quick reply too! Video is well done and very helpful. I'm rather new to this world, so I'm grateful for your insight.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      Long springs will always be more snappy than their counterpart but less its still less. It will feel significantly lighter if that's what your going for but it will also affect the top out sound. At the end of the day its a pretty affordable experiment though so I definitely encourage it.

    • @Mars21681
      @Mars21681 Год назад +1

      @@punkshoo I found 3 stage long springs in 53 and 58g bottom out... I'm left to try and figure out what the actuation would roughly be. I wouldn't want anything lighter than a gat red, slightly higher is good. Actuation of 50 is what I'm going for.
      I'm thinking because of a 22m spring in 58g, it'll give close to the 50g actuation I'm going for, with a poppy return?? You're thoughts? Am I close to understanding that right?
      I'm fairly inexperienced in the field but have been digesting articles and videos on the daily to gain insight. Thank you again, I hope this thread might help someone else searching for answers.

    So the Cream stems come from Kailh on the OG frankenswitches, and these cream sodas are using a Gateron long pole. Both stems are POM, but we are going to have a harsher bottom out with the sodas correct? Any idea what the GB packaging is going to be like?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      The poles on the Cream Stems are slightly longer but I dont feel like the bottom out is any more harsh. When jumping from Gateron long poles to something like Unga Bunga stems that are 13.9mm with a smaller tip there is a noticeable difference, though. The Cream Sodas are in a sweet spot where they emphasize the Ink bottom without being too over-the-top loud and obnoxious.

    would 0.3 films ruin the feel or sound of the switch?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Films in general will help bring the housing sound together and make it sound more full. You might not be able to close the switch if they are .3mm plastic but if they are soft material you should be okay.
