I'm an owner of a '22 NX350h fully loaded Executive model here in Canada. I have just over 47,000 kms or 30,000 miles. Yes the brakes are not very linear in their application in the first month or so of driving but after that they're great! The issue at hand here is that the car utilizes regen braking as much as possible obviously, but when the car is stopping all the way down to a complete stop the system finishes the last bit with the standard brakes run through hydraulics just as a regular ICE setup, as regen braking can't function all the way down to 0 mph. The brake pads 'grab' shall will say, or stopping force changes as the pads seat themselves as they wear into rotors. After this process is over the transition is seamless. My wife would yell at me for braking too hard when we first got it. I told her 'it's not me!' After a few tank fulls of gas or a couple thousand miles the brakes were fine. Whenever I get a loaner car when I'm in for service and it only has a few hundred miles on it I can feel the difference.
Loving my Crown Signia XLE, and I'm not mad that it's a station wagon! Also, haven't found it sounding drone-y when climbing up hills, cuts thru bumps and large puddles up like a hot knife on butter- I should add I live in the PNW where we get LOTS of adverse weather conditions, even tho it's only Fall. Super smooth, comfy, quiet and def a looker- actually happy to answer questions people have about it. Thanks for this comparison, Kirk! Always appreciate your insights!

I test drove the new NX350H, RX350H, and Signia limited two weeks ago. The Signia is AWFUL. low visibility out the windows. Cramped interior. The brakes were good and it was quiet. That’s about it. The NC was fine except the heads up display doesn’t work with sunglasses. The ac controls and driving controls all on the touch screen is VERY distracting. The touch sensitive steering controls for the heads up display are horrible. You have to touch it once then touch it again to select. And even close to being worth the $60k out the door price. The RX - same dislikes as the NX. Same price at my local dealer. Decent though. Much much better than the signia. But…none of them were nearly as nice to drive or see out of than a 2023+ Japanese built RAV4 XSE. It drove better, steered smooth, and was quieter than my Canadian made RAV4 XSE. Yes the center controls for the ac unit look like sausage nipples….but that’s fine with me. 2023+ RAV4 XSE built in Japan is much better than the three in the video. But my go to is the grand highlander hybrid AWD.
Great comparo! Love the side by side format. I love wagons and thinking about swapping my Odyssey for a Signia or something now that kids are older and starting to drive.
I recently bought a Crown Signia XLT; my wife drives the NX 350h (2025). The Lexus feels way more luxurious but she got the upgraded (not the premium) version--with a huge screen. The 2nd row is bigger and more comfortable in the Signia. There is more storage in the Signia. The price difference is around $9,000 (plus).
Can I ask you a question please?? Heck, I'm old and have been knees. I drive SUV's because I can sit up higher and get in and out of the car easily. But in a sedan, I can get in, but getting OUT of it can be a challenge of pulling myself up & out (or sometime I can "roll" out of the door and then stand up. Is the Crown Signia like driving a sedan? If it is, then that will kill it for my consideration. Thanks so much
@2269tah I think of the Signia as a raised Camry wagon, albeit more luxurious and more comfortable. Rides nicely. I am giving my current CX90 to my daughter; it is way higher (sort of like the high feeling). No problem in getting in and out; the Signia is raised, albeit just a bit. My wife's NX350H is definitely higher and more luxurious but it was almost $10,000 more expensive.

@@wafarris Just super curious. what year NX?, what year Venza? Is your NX a 350h? I just thought the Venza Limited was even more amazing and bought one....✌✌
@@atyt11 Oh, sorry. My Venza was a 2013. I didn´t think of the last Venza model when I wrote my reply. My NX is a 2024 350h. The crown has active noise cancellation in the Limited trim but no ANC on the XLE trim. Perhaps this is the difference as the Lexus NX has active noise cancellation.
While I can see the draw to the Lexus for some, I would be very happy with the luxury the Signia offers. However, I would be even happier if Toyota made an 'Estate' version of the Camry that could be had for around $35k (in LE trim) and could achieve around 50 mpg (that's not a pipe dream, some are achieving 60 in the sedan version). NOT another Venza, but a real wagon with a real useable cargo area like the Camry's of the 80's and 90's had. And available with or without AWD like every Camry is today.
I agree. Sometimes my HVAC is funky with my NX350h. One needs to let their car start up n wait so the controls work on the screen. It needs to boot up. Hopefully with updates it will boot faster.
Both are beautiful. I'm partial to the Crown sedan: I have people to do my hauling. Looking forward to the Jan 2025 update for snow testing in Florida :).
I looked at both of these. My wife didn't like the station wagon look of the Crown Signia so that was out. We ended up getting a Venza Limited. These are all good vehicles that will be very reliable. Really comes down to personal preferences. To me the Lexus is better, but not really worth the extra cost.
we have 2025 NX350h. with that note, Crown looks more upscale on the outside. if the Signia came with tinted windows like a "real" CUV, it will be more appearing. for one thing, definitely a big departure from Venza it is replacing.
If you don't already have a preference then the crown is the better vehicle overall in terms of design and also value for money but I would pick the overtrail NX every time. The overtrail NX has improved ground clearance, handling, and ride quality over the standard NX and it looks better than the crown if optioned correctly. Also, I actually PREFER the electric (SEA) NX door handles (i know i know crazy right?) and the overtrail specific interior. Plus there's no cornering fog lights, or premium MkLev audio, on the crown. Both must haves for me.
For ventilated front seats in NX you have to pay for premium option. Signia Xle, the base model, has heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. Look like rear seats has more space in Signia as well.
The Osprey catches the fish pointing forward because, apparently in Florida, the fish might be easier to catch when they are both going in the same direction! It might be a different story in California!
Great reviews of both cars and good comparison. Would you ever consider using a 'sound decibel app' on you phone to get a real sound reading on the cars you review?
I think the Osprey flies over the fish from behind and grabs it. That is why the fish faces forward. I once saw an Osprey flying down the middle of Beneva Rd,. It was only 10 feet off the ground because the fish in its talons was so large it could not gain any height.
I know you say get the NX over the UX but the UX300h just calls to me. smaller, more fuel efficient and it fits my lifestyle and !garage!... Forget the CUV small SUV or cute-ute name. Call the UX what it is.. a 5 door hatchback plain and simple...
I’ve seen a few crown signias on the road i belive all XLE and the wagon look is amazing however overall I absolutely hate the new hammerhead design language on this and the camry whereas the prius looks good with it. Also the Crown could benefit from amber turn signals like the NX has. Using the brake lights is a very inexpensive car thing to do. Bring the venza back already 😂
@ While some people may believe this, the simple fact is Many vehicles have low mounted turn signals. Including semis when you are driving another semi. However any good driver can keep enough distance to see the rear tires of the car in front of them at a stop, and a further distance when driving. Therefore you should always be able to see the entire vehicle and the venza having amber turn signals make it more noticeable whereas in the crown signia people may not notice you have your blinker on in traffic where everyone is braking off and on. I find it hard to notice red turn signals especially when they’re flashing while braking.
You’re not missing anything…. It looks nice on camera. I test drove the new NX350H, RX350H, and Signia limited two weeks ago. The Signia is AWFUL. low visibility out the windows. Cramped interior. @@americandude3825I highly doubt the rav 4 was quieter and better than the signia. Of course visibility isn’t great… it’s a car based wagon/SUV. That means lower seating position and higher windows- sit in instead of on.
@ the windows are smaller of course and the hood was hard to see over with the Signia. RAV4 XSE I test drove was just as quiet. Test drove each for around 30 minutes.
Crown Signia looks like the 2nd gen of the 1st gen Venza. The real 2nd Gen Venza was too much like the RX. Too nice for a Toyota, but not good enough for the Lexus crowd.
The Toyota Crown Signia looks more like a UX. Granted, it’s a bit longer. If you’re into that tanned palomino interior, you can get that in a Lexus. You can get a loaded Lexus UX 300h at a reasonable price point than a base model Signia, with less cheap plastic inside. Plus you get the white glove treatment for all service from the Lexus dealer than any Toyota dealer.
Our nearest Lexus dealer is 90 min away where the closest Toyota dealer is 40 min away. That alone might be a reason for us to get the Toyota instead of the Lexus despite the better service.
I just found out that the limited model 's sunroof doesn't open, it's fixed. Which is a bummer since I want a functional sunroof. The car is extremely nice, and I had the chance to test drive one but I'm between this and the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid. I lose some features with the Mazda but at least I'd have the functional sunroof.
Would you please always post a NIGHT DRIVING comparison segment when you do these videos? No One ever shows what it looks like inside the cabin at night!!!!!
I test drove the Signia and the NX350h Luxury and bought the latter. While the Signia is a very nice vehicle, it feels and looks too "Toyotaish" especially, when you get into the driver's seat and see their big logo on the steering wheel. . . the same logo you find on the Prius and other lower priced models. The Lexus feels more luxurious and is definitely quieter on all levels in my opinion, especially under modest acceleration. The NX feels more luxurious overall. The Mark Levinson stereo is sincerely concert quality and remarkably better than the JBL stereo which sounds very entry level in comparison. While everyone agrees the dependability of Toyota/Lexus is sensational, it's pretty obvious the few thousand dollars more spent on the NX buys you better quality, more advanced features not available on the Signia, and the Lexus resale will be higher at trade-in time. Happy shopping!
The physical buttons of the Signia will be a benefit for most. Also, some of the NX models might be built in the US while all Crowns are made in Japan. I bet a Japan built Crown will be better than an American Lexus. Also, things like all Crowns getting vented seats instead of having to option it is nice.
I priced the NX on the Canada website and it came out to $67k with taxes and after the $5k rebate. That’s a lot of money there but cheaper than the Germans for sure.
Why do you think Lexus is higher quality? Both drivetrains are the same. I’ve owned two 2nd gen Venza and a 2025 NX350h. Build quality seems identical to me
I like interior of Signia. Outside both is nice. Both of them has no spare tire. Lithium batteries in NX probably the cause of better fuel economy. Signia has old style traction battery.
The Lexus RX is much closer to the size of the Crown Signia. The Crown Signia is mid size while the NX is compact. Not understanding why you compared these two!
Kirk, since you have the Crown Signia for a week can we please get a nighttime review? I wonder about the headlights. In particular I wonder about the wideness of the beam pattern since it has no cornering lights. I know Lexus can have it equipped on the triple beam headlight package. I feel that lately, Toyota’s headlight low beams have been a disappointment. Also curious if the single beam housing for the low and high beams in the Crown Signia is effective. I wonder if Toyota cheaped out on the design or simply ran out of physical space. Also, curious about interior lighting. I hope it’s blue. You broke my heart about the brakes on Crown Signia. I hope to test drive it myself one day but my local dealership has none and are extremely pushy on sales to the point of extreme annoyance.
No ambient lighting and heads up is a miss. They also ought to add the more powerful engine like in the regular crown. Change that and you got yourself a car!
This NX looks like it has the light grey/white seats, but the online configurator doesn't list it as an option. Anyone know if this is indeed an option?
NX dashboard looks dated compared to the Signia. This is the problem when you start comparisons - as time goes by, things change. What it comes down to my situation, the Lexus is more likely to be stolen.
NX has better paint, and overall more premium exterior and interior. The crown Signia is more up to date and the interior layout is more usable/intuitive, and more spacious.
The Signia is a very good car but not a Lexus, the Nx is magnificent regarding build quality and materials, fit and finish. According to the Carnut the Crown is a very good car as well.
Lexus NX is far from magnificent in terms of build quality. Even the ones made in Japan. It is sub par to previous generations (both N and RX). I drive one and drove previous generation. The interior material quality is simply not at the same level as before.
@@avdp9095 care to elaborate what exactly is nonsense? The old generation had better quality materials, no piano black, had brushed aluminium parts, passenger side dashboard in new NX is a disappointment in terms of quality (prone to even minor scratches and not easy to maintain). What else can I add..had the front hood locking hatch serviced twice as it was getting rust (after a year), one of speakers needs replacement and back AC vents seem to malfunction).
Does anyone else feel like at the rate auto manufacturers are going with infotainment screen size we will all have big screen tv’s on the dash in 10 years? It’s as ridiculous as the pickup truck conundrum. Chevy, Ford and Dodge all racing to make a bigger and bigger and bigger truck year after year. Now you need a step ladder to grab something in the bed of the truck. This is why the maverick is so popular now.
I own the 2025 Nx Premium and it drives very nice compared to the Toyota. I’ve owned the RX and ES and drove the Camry first. The Lexus is a step above anything Toyota. They are more refined, smoother ride, better feel. The NX has a Proactive Driver Assist which brakes for you and other things that make the brakes activate funky, other than that it’s a beautiful luxury car .
@ who are you to say anything about my financial situation. I happened to buy Lexus because they are good cars. I’m tooting the Lexus brand. Screw off.
It is not fair comparison. Lexus Luxury model nearly 10k more than base model. You need to compare with Sicknia limited if you go to dealer Sicknia limited priced more than Lexus base model… this is so sick
I like the interior of the crown except for the door lock. I just can't get over how they are still using the same lock from the 1992 Camry.... makes the lux interior look cheap. That and the prop rod for the hood...
Crown Signia should have the RX's 17-gallon gas tank to maximize range, since these models are in the same size range... but Crown Signia just gets the typical 14.5 gallon Toyota tank.
I'd just wait for Lexus to get their own version of the Crown Signia and buy that one. Might get a plug-in hybrid drivetrain in that one. Fingers crossed.
We want a Camry station wagon and a Corolla Wagon like they have in Europe. Sick of all the sheeple pleasing , boring ass , SUVs with huge wheels , unnecessary AWD, poor gas mileage, and too high ground clearance.
You’re correct . I replaced the run flats on my NX with Cross Climate 2 from Michelin. Less road noise, better stopping power, smoother ride and better handling. But now if I get a flat I’m gonna have to try and repair it or use fix a flat. Side wall puncture means I’m calling Geico. Oh well.
Crown Signia Limited includes digital rear view mirror.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ❤
The crown has active noise cancellation in the Limited trim but no ANC on the XLE trim. Perhaps this is the difference as the Lexus NX has active noise cancellation.
The NX has acoustic (double pane) front window glass. Not sure about crown
@@TechJunky777so does the Crown. You know you have full luxury when the rear doors also have acoustic laminates glass. This is uncommon.
I like the Signia better, more leg room and more cargo room. And i like the front end of the Crown.
👍👍
Kurt, the NX has run flat tires, thus, that’s why there is no spare tire!
Terrible
The Signia has regular tires and STILL has no spare, so…
Lexus needs to bring back physical climate controls!
Then, it will be considered a "dated" interior. Especially majority of luxury vehicles in the segment are going that route.
I agree. Sometimes my HVAC is funky with my NX350h. One needs to let their car start up n wait so the controls work on the screen. It needs to boot up. Hopefully with updates it will boot faster.
No they don't
"Granny cougar wagon" :) OMG! Describes it perfectly! Toyota should have a marketing campaign.
Both are beautiful. I'm partial to the Crown sedan: I have people to do my hauling. Looking forward to the Jan 2025 update for snow testing in Florida :).
I hope the Crown Signia Sport comes to the states.
Crown Sport
I looked at both of these. My wife didn't like the station wagon look of the Crown Signia so that was out. We ended up getting a Venza Limited. These are all good vehicles that will be very reliable. Really comes down to personal preferences. To me the Lexus is better, but not really worth the extra cost.
I love the wagon
The interior quibbles with the NX will probably improve next year.
Maybe. They just redesigned the Nx.
In 2022, the 2026 is 4th year of new model !
we have 2025 NX350h. with that note, Crown looks more upscale on the outside. if the Signia came with tinted windows like a "real" CUV, it will be more appearing. for one thing, definitely a big departure from Venza it is replacing.
So tint the windows...
@@hctim96Wouldn’t it be in your interest for the windows to come pre-tinted?
It is actually more in line with the original venza.
The guy on the bike is your FBI agent making sure you’re okay.
The Osprey catches the fish pointing forward because, apparently in Florida, the fish might be easier to catch when they are both going in the same direction! It might be a different story in California!
I had a 23. RX, decided to cut my car payment and got a 25 Camry and the brakes completely agree 0:15 !! Are much better in the Camry! Weird huh??
I traded my 22 RX for a 25 camry and regret it. I love everything about the camry except the drivers seat. After a hundred miles it's not comfortable!
The difference between the Crown and NX when you’re closing the door is noticeable. The NX is more a thump than a bang in the Crown.
I know you say get the NX over the UX but the UX300h just calls to me. smaller, more fuel efficient and it fits my lifestyle and !garage!... Forget the CUV small SUV or cute-ute name.
Call the UX what it is.. a 5 door hatchback plain and simple...
Might be more fun to drive than a NX 350h.
The lights for rear turn signals on the Venza are simply dangerous. They were out way too low for what people expect.
I will take the Lexus! Better quality, hood struts, and it sits a tad bit higher!
When was the last time Lexus and Toyota drivers get under the hood 😂
I can't understand how hood struts are an important feature. They're just more to fail, particularly hood struts.
Could probably save even more on a Crown since they are not moving as quick as Toyota would want them.
I got 4K off my Signia XLE
Is a shame that in Europe we don't have Crown and Crown Signia.
You’re not missing anything…. It looks nice on camera.
I test drove the new NX350H, RX350H, and Signia limited two weeks ago.
The Signia is AWFUL. low visibility out the windows. Cramped interior.
I really liked the second GEN Venza!
I own an NX350h and wife drives a Limited Venza. Both are great cars. We are happy
But the UX dimensions are like a Corolla hatch.
The UX is significantly smaller inside than an NX and a Signia
Our nearest Lexus dealer is 90 min away where the closest Toyota dealer is 40 min away. That alone might be a reason for us to get the Toyota instead of the Lexus despite the better service.
I just found out that the limited model 's sunroof doesn't open, it's fixed. Which is a bummer since I want a functional sunroof. The car is extremely nice, and I had the chance to test drive one but I'm between this and the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid. I lose some features with the Mazda but at least I'd have the functional sunroof.
Both use 4th gen hybrid. I'm sure the new Rav4 hybrid will use 5th gen. It will be a home run!
So will the 2026 NX.
I drive Rx 350 Lexus …my 4th Lexus…they are the best cars in my opinion !
Is the NX due for a refresh soon? Or did it have one already
2026.
Would you please always post a NIGHT DRIVING comparison segment when you do these videos? No One ever shows what it looks like inside the cabin at night!!!!!
I wish the Crown Signia XLE had cloth seats. That would make it perfect.
I noticed that one of the differences is that the Crown doesn't have tinted back windows.
Easily fixed. And many dealers do it before putting them on the lot.
if the signa had the more power engine it would be cool
You are absolutely correct 💯 in every way. Finally a comment with Great commonsense.
Also when it comes to service, there’s a noticeable difference between a standard Toyota service and the Lexus white glove treatment.
Build quality seems identical to me
Yes the crown looks better, but I just can’t with its price! Again, I would simply go for a Lexus if I was to spend that kind of money
Great comparison.
I like interior of Signia. Outside both is nice. Both of them has no spare tire. Lithium batteries in NX probably the cause of better fuel economy. Signia has old style traction battery.
Great review Kirk
That engine on the Crown is so loud we can hear it on the recording. Why bother with acoustic glass when the engine sound comes through?
The Lexus RX is much closer to the size of the Crown Signia. The Crown Signia is mid size while the NX is compact. Not understanding why you compared these two!
Price
What about the warranty Lexus has 4 years is the crown 3 or 4 years?
Hey Kirk would you say the XLE is the best trim? Or are we better off getting the Limited?
Definitely Limited.
The Limited is about $5,000 more expensive than the XLE. I personally don't like the panoramic moonroof and prefer smaller wheels and larger tires.
@@10tenman10yes, I would like the Limited with 19 inch wheels. That should be an option.
I prefer the Lexus dealer experience and service
So get the Crown serviced at Lexus. They would love your business..
Dont let me bite the nips @@hctim96
doesent the crown come with a 5gen hybrid system and the nx with a 4th gen?
so how can the be the same? good work. iv been waiting for a vid like this
I was curious about this also!
Both have 4th gen,
No ambient lighting and heads up is a miss.
Which one is more quiet on the road toyota camry hybrid xle 2025 or toyota crown signia xle
NX has better paint, and overall more premium exterior and interior.
The crown Signia is more up to date and the interior layout is more usable/intuitive, and more spacious.
Lexus ES 350 vs Crown please!
The Signia is a very good car but not a Lexus, the Nx is magnificent regarding build quality and materials, fit and finish. According to the Carnut the Crown is a very good car as well.
You are absolutely correct 💯. Crown Signia is a very good but NX is miles better in every level.
Lexus NX is far from magnificent in terms of build quality. Even the ones made in Japan. It is sub par to previous generations (both N and RX). I drive one and drove previous generation. The interior material quality is simply not at the same level as before.
@@TheBrudol new NX has excellent interior quality and miles better than the old one. Whatever you are feeling. is just your personal invalid opinion
@@TheBrudol nonsense
@@avdp9095 care to elaborate what exactly is nonsense? The old generation had better quality materials, no piano black, had brushed aluminium parts, passenger side dashboard in new NX is a disappointment in terms of quality (prone to even minor scratches and not easy to maintain). What else can I add..had the front hood locking hatch serviced twice as it was getting rust (after a year), one of speakers needs replacement and back AC vents seem to malfunction).
Do you recommend it in the 1st year of production? Usually bugs cleared out on following year?
Do crown vs CX-50 hybrid
Embargo lifts in à week
The NX has a Proactive Driver Assist which brakes for you and other things that make the brakes activate funky, other than that it’s a beautiful luxury car .
you dont have to toot your own horn, the internet already knows you are amazing and well to do
@ who are you to say anything about my financial situation. I happened to buy Lexus because they are good cars. I’m tooting the Lexus brand. Screw off.
agree about the front end looks better on the Toyota
It is not fair comparison. Lexus Luxury model nearly 10k more than base model. You need to compare with Sicknia limited if you go to dealer Sicknia limited priced more than Lexus base model… this is so sick
C'mon, Granny Cougar! She ain't wrong, Kirk. You know you fine.
🤣
Out of the 2, i prefer the Crown Signia. Crossing my fingers hoping toyota brings the Crown Sport to the US, bit not betting on it.
Kirk, I'm wondering if the base N/A NX250 has the same brake feeling as this one?
I like the interior of the crown except for the door lock. I just can't get over how they are still using the same lock from the 1992 Camry.... makes the lux interior look cheap. That and the prop rod for the hood...
Good review, but really one is suv one is a station wagon
Why compare the Lexus to a base model Signia? Should have used a Limited Signia.
And isn’t the Signia more comparable to the RX?
A big problem concerning the Lexus brand is that their cars are often targeted by thieves.
Do either have audible beeping with their respective back up sensors?
Crown Signia should have the RX's 17-gallon gas tank to maximize range, since these models are in the same size range... but Crown Signia just gets the typical 14.5 gallon Toyota tank.
Anyone feel like you're sitting too low (even with seat adjustments), in the Crown S.? It reminds me of my old Solara limited. 🤔
I'd just wait for Lexus to get their own version of the Crown Signia and buy that one. Might get a plug-in hybrid drivetrain in that one. Fingers crossed.
Isn’t the RX 350 already really close to the Signia?
@@Trvlrxxx The Crowns are all made in Japan, but a lot of the drivetrain parts are similar.
@@cbotten106 thank you.
Dun kno why Toyota removed the crown badge, which they have it on the JDM crown……
We want a Camry station wagon and a Corolla Wagon like they have in Europe. Sick of all the sheeple pleasing , boring ass , SUVs with huge wheels , unnecessary AWD, poor gas mileage, and too high ground clearance.
👍 Now do an rx comparison.
What’s the advantage or disadvantage of larger wheels?
The 21 inch looks cool but the 19s are wider, this smoother ride.
@@Trvlrxxx Okay. That’s good to know.
man those wheels on the Signia look like an airport rental
Towing capability comparison?
Are all Crowns/Signias built in Japan? That alone would make me want to get one.
I read that the Signias are only built in Japan. A definite plus.
I think the NX has Run Flat tires as standard, stiffer sidewalls is the key factor for the overall road noise and vibration in the cabin.
Oh well.
