In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

One fact if you start out using a product brand, you tend to stick with it. Reason is you get calibrated to the buttons, functions and layout, and it's just easier to use because your familiar with it.
I'm a electronics DA and once I finally learn how to use a unit I don't want to change or (pull teeth). Lowrance units are just easier for me to use, so I stick with 'em... I'm positive that lowrance, hummingbird, and garmin make great products, it's just what you are used to..imo...

Betcha can't say the same thing now?! Garmin is now using full downscan ,but garmin is also whooping the pants off of livesight. Lowrance and johnson set back, resting on their laurels and Garmin came in and stole the show from them. And before the lawsuite, garmin WAS using downvu, which was a down facing element. Garmin was get to me from the beginning, but i am even more a happy garmin user. Lowrance on the other hand disapponted men with their software and interface... I bought an elite ti eariler in the year but i am glad i returned it and went all in with garmin.

I have 2 of the Garmin echo map 93sv units(the larger Garmin then shown in this video, but same transducer) and I'll agree, it's down imaging and side imaging are garbage. One advantage Garmin does have is it's maps and GPS are superior in my opinion. Chirp sonar is about the same but I will disclaim I have never seen a side by side of the sonars going over the same fish. My previous hummingbird 999 had much better side imaging then the Garmin and the Lowerance side imaging is even better. I'm now thinking about adding a Lowerance just for the down imaging and using my Garmin only for the maps and gps.

You promise that you have all the same sensitivity settings on there? Is it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the GARMIN up so that it shows the same? If this is possible but you're not showing it, then the video is worthless because the GARMIN might be able to do the same thing, but with different settings. You're not showing us that. You're just saying when set up identically, the Lowrance is better. That doesn't matter if under some different settings the Garmin could do the same thing.

    • @1OFGODSOWN

Jarod Morris the Lowrance needs no adjustment.Put it in Automatic Mode and you will see just what you saw in this video. Not so with other units so why buy a unit that needs constant adjustments when you could be catching those fish that the Lowrance will be showing you? Common sense to me but some people just hate being wrong or that they chose the not so good choice. LOL 😂

I have the same Garmin unit with the CV52 transducer that Garmin calls Clearvu. The GT52 transducer prior to the lawsuit has the down element. The CV52 does not have down element and is worthless and not worth the money. The bad thing about it is that Garmin has been lying to their costumers about their clearvu. Just until recent that they start saying that the CV52 doe not have the down element. I Paid almost $800 in Feburary of 2017 for the Garmin unit and only able to use the CHIRP and maps. The sidevu is not that great either. Contact Garmin couple of times but Garmin is unwelling to make this right for their costumers.
