    You sold me. I'm going to put a new pair in my Jackson Mick Thomson Soloist. Great review, thank you for taking through each step so I really understand these pickups.

    Thank you for covering the Devin set. They're stupid versatile which is something im always looking for. It's pretty random that i found this video looking for reviews and you looked familiar. Tell my cousin Lenny I said what's up! Awesome review!!! Subbed!!

    Excellent demo, thank you for demonstrating the knobs. I'm installing these now on my Jackson Mick Thomson and needed to understand what knobs to add because I only have a volume knob. It looks like for now I'll just add a P/p tone knob and be good to go. Perhaps later I might add a toggle switch like Devin Townsend does.

    Great demo because you aren’t running it with a ton of goo in the signal chain. I think once you do, you think “yep, sounds just like DT”. This demo shows the true versatility of the pickups. Cheers.

    The perfect pickups do exist. I need to find a good HH guitar and then invest in a set of these.

    I'm trying to decide between these and lollar DB humbucker to replace my emg 81/85. These sound amazing but I love the look and sound of the DB.

    Dig it! Very thorough review.
    Any chance you could share how you wired these up? That’s the exact configuration I’d
    like to run, but I can’t find a diagram for it...

    Thanks for this! I played this guitar in a store and it’s the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. However, I thought the stock pickups sounded like garbage and the clean neck sound, which I use most of the time, were just unusable...so I’ve been wondering what it would sound like with some Tosin or Devin pickups and if they could fix the clean sound.
    It sounds A LOT better.
    I’m a quite surprised to find out the fluence pickups have hum in the split positions. That was one of the main reasons I wanted them, because I thought they took care of that problem.

      I too am surprised by the single coil hum.

      Not that I know how to play all that well.

      I think the Open Core Classic and Keith Murrow model voice 3 cancels hum, but the coil splits on the earlier models were more like traditional coil splits so they hum like a passive would.

    Hey, what screws are you using for the fluence pickup hole mounted into the Sterling Majesty?

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  4 года назад +1

      The original screws that held in the original pickups. They do not fit the pickups though, so you have to actually file out the threaded inserts of the pickup, so the screw passes through them. That's the down side of direct mounting pickups. You need to permanently modify the pickup...

    Hi, Chris Tompkins! I really need your help! Tell me, in order to install the fishman pickups in the Music man guitar, did you need to sharpen the body in the guitar? I understand that they do not fit in size, what difficulties have you encountered? It is very important for me to know this! Thank you in advance for your response!

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  3 года назад +1

      In order to fit these pickups, I had to make the pickup route slightly larger. I did it using files and lots of patience. The original pickup route was only slightly too small so I only had to remove a little bit from the sides. The depth was okay. Once I filed out enough material, I then used shielding paint to cover the exposed wood. Took several hours to complete.

    Those or the abasi one ?

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  3 года назад

      I like the Abasi set just a bit better. There's a mid-range thing that I really dig, with the Abasi set. That's not to say that this is a bad set, it's just a personal preference.

    hello.. do you prefer fishman pickups?

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  4 года назад

      Yes I do. I'd put them in all of my guitars if I could. I especially love the "classic" series and the Tosin Abasi set. So much clarity!!

    I torn between these the keith merrow version and the moderns for replacing my emgs. I might have to literally flip a coin lol.

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  4 года назад

      However that coin lands, you wont be disappointed. There's no such thing as a bad set of fluence pickups. :)
