    It’s fascinating to hear the different pickups, voicing and modes. I was looking into getting a set of Fluences before. Definitely on the next set of pickups list.

      Also, those EMG's sound like a hot mess compared to any of the Fishmans. I remember when all of us metal heads thought that was the end-all be-all... I never converted to EMG's because I liked playing lower gain stuff too much as well.

    I got a set of the Devins for my Kiesel, and I'm loving them. Funny thing was listening to the Tosins at first and wondering if I chose wrong and then getting to the back to back comparison and still preferring the Devins. The clarity is great on the Tosins, but the Devins still have that with more thickness imo. They also sound incredible for leads because of that

    Nice vid man!! I really dig the tosins. Im planning on getting a set of white tosins to replace the moderns on the strandberg i purchased. Do you think i need to replace all electronics or just swap the pick ups out? The tosins have a 3rd voicing right?

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  2 года назад +1

      The Tosins do have a 3rd voice, and also they should be paired with active pots, 25k rather than 250 so check what you have- but if it’s already got fishmans then it should be a drop in replacement

    I had matching sets of the Fishman Fluence Modern pickups with the Black Nickel finish installed in both of my Schecter guitars, one 6-String and one 7-String and I am never looking back! 😆🤘 It's no wonder why all of the Modern metal guitar players are going with the Fishman Fluence line. 0% latency, (Which compensates very nicely when recording through an audio interface.) Clarity, punch, definition. It's all there! 😆🤘

    ok so heres a pretty silly question Adam... got a passive dual humbucker guitar here. is there anything to stop me from wiring up a stereo TRS jack socket, and having it always output both humbuckers on 2 separate channels? then i could have the ability to mix them together on their own different chains and/or use a different trigger mechanism elsewhere to switch between them. is that just totally dumb idea? but i think it would suit me :) hehe

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  2 года назад +2

      That’s not a silly question! If your guitar has 2 separate volume pots, that’s very much possible as there can be two signal paths. Rickenbacker have been doing this for many years as Rick-O-Sound, and a lot of modern guitars do this as one output magnetic and one piezo. If you can get a TRS cable to a splitter it’s worth trying!

    • @dreamcat4
      @dreamcat4 2 года назад

      but what am really wondering here is if the passive pickup signal will be weak enough, not to pick up and undesirable crosstalk leaking between the 2 pickup channels inside the stereo 1/4 guitar cable. however a desirable or harmless milder crosstalk might sound ok / fine. or maybe there is some other issue.... do other guitarists ever do this?

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  2 года назад +2

      Rick-O-Sound was entirely passive and used two single coils, to great effect. I don’t know anyone who does this with guitar but since it’s very possible it’s worth experimenting

  • @NickSchneiderChannel
    @NickSchneiderChannel Год назад

    Question, could you just wire the fish man pickups as passive? I am new to guitar building and don’t know enough to understand the electronics of it yet…..yet!

    • @NickSchneiderChannel
      @NickSchneiderChannel Год назад

      Such as use one as a bridge, and instead of using the active setting, utilize it as a kill switch?
      If that makes sense?

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  Год назад

      No you can’t do that, these are active pickups that work with 9V and a 25kOhm volume circuit, not powering them would sound like a dead battery, like a broken fuzz pedal.

    I guess the biggest thing I've taken away from this video is I like all three of the fishman sets shown for different reasons... If I were to put one in a guitar that didn't already have fishmans I might use the Abasi's (I have an Ibanez that has modern's..) I think the other take away is how bad the EMG's sound >

      @honigdachs. 7 месяцев назад

      All my EMGs (Het Set, 57/66, 81X/60X and the Super 77) wipe the floor with Fishmans. They all have more roar and ballsy low end and sound generally meaner and livelier. Unfortunately both Fishman sets I have suffer from the same type of Hi-Fi-sterility, lack of low end and a weird congested upper mid heavy sound that almost sounds like a half cocked wah pedal. They're not bad pickups, but definitely far from being an EMG upgrade, on the contrary.
