    I'm curious to know what diagram you used to wire these up. This is the same config I have on the guitar they're going in and there are 1001 different diagrams to jump off from..

      Oh wow! Did you order the same set?
      I'm really happy to help the only issue is I didn't use a diagram but I did get advice from Fishman
      "Voice switch, green and orange, go to the volume pot and switch to ground for V2.
      Then yellow and blue are for the coil cut, those go to the tone pot's switch"
      That wiring may only be for my set though, but good luck!

      yeah but I want to have the active tone too for contrast. I want to use it not only for metal but for other styles of music too. Like blues. And I want to use the voice 1 as a boost. Whatever. Just record some palmmuted powerchords with it (in standard E) into a di and I will be more than happy :)
      And you know that was by far the best demonstration of these pickups. Thank you very much man!

      and standard E palm mutes? I want my standard E palm mutes. And hit the string very hard :D
      Actually there is a little trick if you want to try something new. You know many guitar players holding the pick in an angle. So this is the worst way to hold the pick if you want to have an agressive attack. If you want an energetic agressive attack try to engle the pick backwards. Just try it. You know.. The more you know :)
      I actually stole this technique from Ole Englund. This is why everything sounds so great when he plays.

    OK, now I'm confused!
    In the video below Devin *himself* says that the pickup set has 3 (Three) modes (*1.* A Modern "Active" Humbucker with pole pieces and blade. *2.* A more "Classic" passive humbucker tone, and *3.* A Tele/Strat.type single coil) and he mentions nothing about "normal" splitting. Could you explain what's going on?
    ruclips.net/video/b0cooQ5SVaw/видео.html

    • @patdavidmusic
      @patdavidmusic  4 года назад

      The normal splitting is 3

    • @griiseknoen
      @griiseknoen 4 года назад

      @@patdavidmusic Sorry. Still confused... 🥴😀 Devin describes THREE different sounds. *1:* His "metal" humbucker, *2:* A Tele/Strat type single-coil, and *3:* A humbucker version of that Tele/Strat type single-coil.
      You describe *FOUR* different sounds in each pickup (Specifically *two humbuckers* and their respective single coil versions.) So, have you wired the set differently than Devin? How? (Also, I didn't know that you could actually "split" Fishman pickups in the traditional sense, I thought the "single-coil" sounds were actually completely different circuits.)

    • @seanmackay6739
      @seanmackay6739 2 года назад +1

      @@griiseknoen A year late but the fishman lineup is a little confusing so I'm not surprised there's some confusion. Only a few Fishman models have a true third voice. Notably the Open Core models (Open Core Classic, Merrow, and Javier Reyes), but the normal classic was updated to include the third after the Open Core models released. The humbucker models (including the older version of the Classics) don't have a voice 3, but do have options to enable coil splits which can split both Voice 1 and Voice 2.
      From the Fishman site he wires his pickups in two ways: Either a push-pull to switch from V1 to V2 w/ Coil Tap, or a 3 way toggle which chooses between V1, V2, and V2 w/ Coil Taps. So since Devin himself doesn't wire them in a way that he can ever use V1 w/ Coil Taps, he probably doesn't really consider it when talking about them. (I'm calling them Coil Taps since that's what the pickups themselves label them as)
      This part is conjecture, but the Fishman marketing page even refers to Voice 2 as "single coil" and "access to a humbucking version of Voice 2 is available via push-pull" which makes me think when they designed them with Devin he was focused on creating a heavy Voice 1, and a single coil Voice 2 which they achieved with the Coil Tapped voice 2. But because they did it with their covered pickup architecture using a true Coil Tap, they could still untap Voice 2 and get a humbucking version, or tap voice 1 and get a single coil version of it. Devin probably appreciated the humbucking version of Voice 2 for use in noisy environments, but Voice 1 with Coil Taps was just an extra he probably didn't fuss over while developing them nor intended to use. Just a bonus we can use if we wire them for it.

    • @mariuszota
      @mariuszota Год назад

      @@seanmackay6739 useful info, mate!
      Do you happen to know how to wire them as to get all the 4 "voices"? Or can you point me to a diagram that show this possibility?
      I want to get these myself (to swap some stock pups on a PRS Mushok), and would like to know how to wire them to get all the juices out (:-D) and what other parts I may need. Probably the DPDT switch for sure.
      The thing is that on the back I see connections only for output (V1, probably), V2 and coil tap (but not clear for which voice).
      Thx a bunch in advance!

    • @seanmackay6739
      @seanmackay6739 Год назад +1

      @@mariuszota the coil tap applies to both voices. So if you wire a switch to V2 and a switch to Coil tap, with the switches off you're in V1. If you turn on on Coil tap then you would be in coil tapped V1. If you turn it off and switch to V2 then you're in humbucking V2. Then if you pull both the V2 and Coil Tap switches you'd be in coil tapped V2.
      Your output always sends the signal from whatever mode your in, and switches on the V2 or Coil Tap terminals enables that mode.
      If you want full flexibility you'd need either 4 switches or 4 Push Pulls (or any combination of 4) to control the Voice and Coil Tap for each separately. If you don't mind linking some up (like having one push/pull control both coil taps at once) you can get by with 2 or 3 switches.
      Their site should have lots of wiring diagram options
