    The same Ute in NZ (SR5 Cruiser) is $56k and the 2wd version $46k. Great value compared to others. I’ve got one and tow 1.5-2 tonnes regularly and average around 12-13L/100k and 9.5 unladen. Love it.

    How are Toyota going with the recall on DFP issues on these engines. So many people having issues with this 2.8 diesel engine.

      These new ones chew the diesel.
      My sr uses 13/14 lph empty.
      Loaded towing 17/20 lph with poor performance.
      Also have had sensor failures and 4wd system only works when it feels like.
      Shit car in my opinion for heavy off road use.

      I have already had the dpf reprogrammed from the dealer.
      Its had a forced regen once under 25000 kms.
      I was told there is another dpf upgrade coming out soon.
      The engine is very Underpowered when compared to ranger and by 50.
      I go off road with mates in their bt 50 and ranger and they have had no problems as yet.
      Same year models as my hilux and I find my self back at the dealer getting problems looked at.
      So much for unbreakable.

    I’m not really sure why things like AEB and Radar Cruise aren’t offered on cars like this, especially given it’s $60k price tag. As far as I know it’s only the Ranger that offers it and these days after having it in my last 2 cars I wouldn’t consider a vehicle without it.

    Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about the 4.0 V6 petrol Hilux?

    • @Brandon-nz7jm
      @Brandon-nz7jm 6 лет назад

      Matthew Gerlag because there is none

    • @MIGerlag
      @MIGerlag 6 лет назад +5

      Brandon: Here in South Africa it’s still offered, it’s the top of the line most expensive model of the Hilux sold here, surely it’s also still being sold in Australia.
      It’s still a brilliant motor, I own a 2009 Hilux 4.0 V6 and I smoked one of those new fancy pants Amrok V6s at the lights the other day, so in my opinion it’s still the king of the hill.
      I know it’s not really a direct competitor, most people want a diesel and the petrol V6 is a bit thirstier, you have to really want the petrol V6 because you buy it more with your heart than with your mind.
      It just annoys me whenever they talk about performance bukkies and don’t even at lest mention the 4.0 Hilux.
      There’s no replacement for displacement.💪🏻

    • @Brandon-nz7jm
      @Brandon-nz7jm 6 лет назад

      Matthew Gerlag I believe they stopped selling the 4.0l v6 in Australia 2017. Petrol ute’s just aren’t worth buying in Australia because of fuel costs and fuel economy. You can still buy a petrol 4 cylinder though. But the reason why they have taken out the v6 is because no one is buying them over the diesel.

    • @MIGerlag
      @MIGerlag 6 лет назад

      Brandon: Yeah, even in South Africa about 90% of Hiluxs are diesel, I get why diesels make sense and everyone wants them, it’s just sad the petrol models die out because of it.

    Don’t bother buying one if you ever intend on putting slightly bigger tyres for a bit of ride quality or a bigger footprint in sand.
    The gutless engine and high transmission ratio will be a disappointment and return high fuel consumption.
    The car is rubbish for towing.

    Put a Bullbar winch and dropside tray on it , drive it on dirt with it loaded up and tow a boat around the same weight as tested here and you soon see what a gutless engine this is.
    Transmission never stop changing gears unless you lock it in a gear.
    Then in sand it’s useless with them poxy low profile tyres.
    Rough as guts on corrigations.
    All round piss poor effort from the engineers from Toyota and not suitable for towing or use in the bush.

  • @vevohoeyo

    These things struggle to get themselves around let alone trying to tow a trailer. The fuel economy is ridiculously high they are gutless and give alot of trouble. Quite regularly you will see blue smoke pouring from the exhaust. It's time the people in aussie woke up and stop buying these hilux just because of the name. Like the rest of the world.
