What was the reason for returning the silhouette cameo 4? Curious because I just bought the silhouette portrait 3, so far no issues but I have heard about issues with the cameo 4.
Hi Richie...Stick with the cable. I had several issues with the machine stopping half way through the cut, and no way to resume it.. Have my portrait about 5 years using Tamiya sheets. Also can be used to cut decal masks by scanning in Decals and have cut 0.3mm styrene sheet to make seats etc , After scanning a photoetch fret for my 1/32 T-28 Trojan..
Guys, if you’re having trouble justifying the price of one of these machines just show the wife all the craft things they can do with it. I bought the wife one and she uses it about 10 times as much as I do. One source supply is another vinyl vendor, but they sell big rolls.
@@RWHobbies that's another thing I'm keen on getting. I'm in the process of building a house so need to save for furniture and landscaping so modelling has taken a bit of a back seat
@@RWHobbiesjust got a 3D printer myself. Have printed some things I found off the net, and just printed my first original design. It’s a whole new skill set.
One recommendation I would have is not to reposition your graphic in Design Studio, but instead keep it where it was (top left), load your material on the cutting mat and then reposition the cutting head of the machine using the arrow keys on the front panel. You'll have a more accurate placement, rather than guessing where to place the design on the mat in the program. The Camera 4 also has a horrible Bluetooth issue which *should* be the cause of a recall for repair, but Silhouette has refused to acknowledge the issue (check online and you'll see how rampant the issue is).
Cool demonstration. Ive been thinking about getting something like this for a specific build but it wont happen for a while. I wonder if it would be much harder to scan in a decal sheet and create a paint mask to replace decals
You could print your decals through the app on decal paper and then put it in cameo and it will cut around the decals. May not work great with small scales but 1/48 and 1/32 may work. Same principle as creating and cutting stickers on the machine.
Note: I returned this and bought a Cricut Explore Air 2. I much prefer the Cricut.

Good to know. Thanks

Yes and order a Cricut not this Silhouette. I ended up returning it and much prefer the $50 cheaper Cricut machine. Video on that coming next week.
I'm definitely keen to get one eventually but got a couple higher priority things atm
Next up thinking 3d printer for pilot figures and small dio/ vignette accents

I actually returned and got a Cricut machine. Much prefer it, way easier to use and works every time with Bluetooth.

I’ve gone from scanned decal sheet to Cricut, but I did have to edit out some stuff from the scan.
Cool Richie 😂
Thanks LJ
