Why can't WG standartize the models to accept different body parts and bits from the same range(ie Primaris to Primaris, IG to IG etc...) without cutting and sanding? It would boost their sales if average players could simply glue together a kitbash of their desire = more incentive to buy different stuff.
@@DzinkyDzink it looks like a lot of the older space marine kits were standardized because most bits were interchangeable. I think most of the new kits will be when they release the full kits instead of just the monopose ones. They always get released first and are cheaper to buy and easier to build, so more people buy them.
This is a very impressive conversion Pete! This painted model looks really good too and I hope you will do a tutorial on painting this figure too. Thanks for making this.
YYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!! Been waiting for something like this. Nice work, Pete. There are a lot of space wolf players scratching their heads about how to convert the Indomitus boxset. Thanks for answering the call.
Rondel is an old word for round and would typically be a small circular plate of armour or a dagger, so that is probably not right either. The ones on space marines would just be called shields, in medieval times a knight would usually hang his shield from his shoulder to keep his hand free which is where i think GW got the aesthetic from.
GW staff have been calling them tilt shields, tilting plates. I've heard it referred to as a "turn-lance", presumably in reference to jousting? Rondal is another good one to add to the toolbelt.
Looks awesome. Nice job! I made my own out of intercessor bodies and was playing to use these guys in a different army, but this might have persuaded me to wolf them up. 🤘
Well Done Pete! I can't wait to get my hands on these big boys to start their Wolfy conversions! I have a ton of third party bits (Kromlech, Puppetswar, SpellCrow, etc) and I am so pumped to really get to work!
Hi Pete! This video inspired me to create my own White Scar Bladeguard Captain. I enjoy kitbashing and converting also. i am working on my White Scar Outriders and the Chaplain right now.
This turned out really well. I'm trying to decide what I want to do for my Salamanders successor. The shields I might end up getting some 3d printed replacements, because they really don't seem to fit for Salamanders.
Thanks for another great video mate, I'm stuck trying to decide weather to go Space Wolves or Ultras for my first foray into Primaris marines, this is definitely making me think Wolves.
Outstanding work. how would you do one for Minotaurs chapter, could curve out abdomin cloth to look like armour possibly,Greek themed abs kind of look.
Sorry if this is off topic but the gold on that space wolf is absolutely perfect. Just what I was looking for to paint my Carcharodons. Does anyone know the name of the paints used to create the Gold?
I used Army Painter metallics: 2 parts Weapon Bronze to 1 part Gun Metal mixture for the base, washed with Agrax and then applied a highlight of 1 part WB to 1 part GM
The armpit shield is called a "besagew", Its only called a "rondel" if its round. All rondels are besagews, but not all besagews are rondels. They are commonly miscalled rondels because the term rondel existed first. But as rondel means "round" or "small circle", the term besagew came into use to describe any non-circular version.
I love it!! I'll be doing the Deathwing conversion when my box set arrives but this Space Wolve is awesome!! And those DEAD ANIMAL BITS always seem to come in useful lol
@@PeteTheWargamer my main source of D.A.B is obviously the GW Skull set! But is there any other kits or anything out there that is also a good source of DEAD ANIMAL BITS?
Could you make a painting tutorial of this color scheme for space wolves, obviously not the same model but just a painting tutorial. ii love this scheme and would love to know the paints you used to make it and how you applied it.
I was planning to kitbash some of these completely from scratch, using intercessors as a base and adding a ton of bits from other kits. However, this turned out really well, so now I'm thinking I might just use the original Bladeguard vets as the base. I'll probably wait for the multipart kit though as I suspect that will make quite a few of the steps a fair bit easier.
Your my hero... I've been struggling though, because I'm a white scar fan. Would you possibly do white scars anytime soon or have a suggestion on where to start?
Just curious about your thoughts on another way of covering up the removed rondel. Adding some cloth made of greenstuff or similar material. Reaching from below the shoulderpad down to the belt. Turning the loinscloth it already has into some kind of tabard. I know it might get some small resemblance to the Dark Angels robes tho.
I love this model, but as you swapped the sword for an axe and the datasheet speciffically says powersword, they arent actually legal for official play, though im sure most places will be fine with it. Its important to keep in mind that some wont.
Intensely cool. I don't much care for the Space Wolves aesthetic, but damn if seeing the finished miniature didn't make me wanna build some! Great content.
I gave you grief for doing the Heresy Emperor's Children scheme instead of the current one, but I agree with using the Heresy Space Wolves theme. It really does look a lot better.
Thank you for this video. Gives a great pointer on making the bladeguard more wolfy/Viking. Not perfect of course, the robes definite don’t match the sons of Russ, but I will take what I can get until GW actually comes up with Space Wolves specific aesthetic Primaris.
I based my conversion loosely on Viking Huscarls which wore tabards beneath their armour. I like to think that the cloth of this model follows that theme.
Pete The Wargamer they did? Ok will checkup on those so that I can justify in my head that Vikings wore Tabards in the past. For me, I can imagine they did after their Christinazatioj but not before. Thanks for reply, will do my own further research
