It’s sad that y’all think carharrt is high quality. Y’all don’t do real work, cause if you did you’d know carharrt has zero quality like they used to. That’s a fact. Real workers complain about carharrt, or they wear Duluth or dickies or somethin else. Even dri duck. Yes, detroits look cool. With the blanket lining. But the new ones are not work quality. They’re for street kids.

@@Lewis94RUclips you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve been buying and working in carharrt my entire adult life. Quality has went down. There’s a reason there’s so many factory seconds for carharrt. They make so many products that don’t pass QC. There’s better brands out there.

@MikeKrochburnes I doubled down and bought one a couple of years ago and I can say from experience that they're quality. Probably not as good as they used to be, but they hold up. This is coming from someone who works on cars. However getting stains out of them is pretty much impossible and the dye they use is kinda shotty
So what's real work? Wondering if my job that pays for my rent and my bills and my truck is a fake job or a real job.
I have a theory on this. I think it’s the same thing that fueled the lumberJack bearded flannel trend in the 2010s. There was a time when most folks, Men in particular, were working class, blue collar , or agricultural workers . Now in a deindustrialized service based tech economy, a large number of men now can get by most of their life financially without having to ever learn how to use a tool let alone work a manual labor job. There are many other options. Especially for the well educated. The trendy distressed blue collar look is driven by a subconscious desire, I think, to align oneself with traditional masculine traits and activities, ( I’m not saying masculine traits can’t exist in other industries) but hard labor and blue collar work is often associated with resourcefulness, strength, physical capability, grit, resilience, handiness…things most men want to be. Because people no longer get this through their daily work they resort to dressing the part or mimicking it through fashion.

I wear mine when it’s cold af out side or in the wear house 😅and been wearing it since my younger days
The Detroit jacket will literally last you a lifetime. Vintage clothing was originally created to last you decades. Fast fashion such as ASOS, Boohoo, etc won't last you more than a year. That's why.
Mostly it’s good quality and it has history. Plus, it just looks clean

Because they were typically more expensive for their higher quality. I remember growing up that carhartt was a luxury item. Rap music made it popular.

Gee I don’t know, maybe because its quality has been proven in time and it’s cool to bring an old article of clothing back to life. Vintage carhartt, specifically union made in the U.S. was built to last. Isn’t even the same product that’s new in stores now.
