Only a few things I can say... Anyone remember how PoE was when it came out over a decade ago? LE is going to need time as well. I'd also say quite a few of us weren't seasoned ARPG players with the ability to clear all content within a week, especially with pre-defined builds from from hardcore streamers or a site like Maxroll. The landscape and expectations of ARPG has changed for players vastly over the years and I don't think indie or below AAA studios will sufficiently meet them, especially with newer players. That being said EHG has knocked it out the park for me and I hope they can get up to PoE's height, as the years go on.
Yeah agreed, you can get bored of last epoch fast since there is nothing to push for yet, like you could grind to buy or drop a 3-4LP unqiue for your build but what's the point, when you can clear everything out easily on a no LP or 1 LP unqiue or even just random rares? That said I'm going to make a third character soon probably lmao, having a blast trying out different interactions and skills/classes. Tbf I'm a big altoholic in PoE aswell, I usually have 4-5 chars/league.
I felt LE's biggest weakness so far are its movements. The animation is janky and slow and every movement skill has innate CDs making the mapping experience slow on purpose (comparing with a BoneZone build leap slamming). I think the team should rework the movement animations, the character slides/skates when you hold down the left click but not really moving anywhere.
I haven't played last epoch since 2018 when the characters looked like play doh and hitting monsters feel like fighting a straw doll. The day of the launch I was mindblowed, game looks amazing now and the "crunchiness" of fightning monster and killing packs its epic, after playing for 118 hours got all my relics, very well equipped, get a taste of every content the game has, I can say i'm completly satisfied with the cycle. The game is in rails for success. Now looking for poe next league with high hopes, knowing its the league pre-poe2 beta i want to grind more than ever for that key.
I picked the game up yesterday and altho I'm having fun with it, I can understand the points your making. For me it feels like the game (as it is right now) is more casual friendly and caters more towards us that don't need to zoom zoom through content and enjoy taking a slower time through it all and learn as we go. I'm sure this will change with time as the devs adapt and learn more what the playerbase wants. I'll have fun with it for a while, it's the sort of game you can put 50 hours into and go play something else and come back and you're still in it - compared with PoE where you are so far behind if you step away for a couple of weeks it's painful. (from a casual perspective). I enjoyed watching you play the build you did, I had plans on playing it myself but opted for a Warpath build instead, I love me some spin to win builds. :D
yeah there isn't really much of an endgame and it doesnt have the depth of PoE in terms of builds. But they have a great foundation to add content on top of. The skills and complexity is a nice mid point between super casual Diablo and super complex PoE. Crafting is really well thought out. for now the fun of the game is just messing around with builds. it doesn't have the longevity of PoE but it could down the line if they add more endgame content and just more content in general
The one thing that is going to make me stop playing this game is that there are no icons on the map for drops that I get. I feel like I'm going slower on purpose so I dont miss anything that drops. It really bothers me lol
I never played poe properly, i only got to t12 maps, couldnt clear it with zombiemancer and quit, could you make a video explaining the endgame of poe and how to progress? cos its so complex i just feel so useless without the knowledge of what to do next
hmm i think cool thing about poe is that there's many different "endgames". getting 4 voidstones is a classic milestone, for instance. some people's endgame is deep delve, magic find, getting 40/40 challenges, killing all ubers, crafting one specific giga item, etc. and it feels nice since you can farm currency/gear which can help you achieve these objectives. in LE sometimes i felt pointless farming gear, since every upgrade didn't really change my gameplay at all, but just let me get to the next corruption level 🙄. if youre looking for general poe progression, i have an ssf guide video that might help u out
Actual endgame of poe is delve, proper way to play poe is to play meta skill( play tornado shot or bone shatter, rest of skills in poe a clunky and outdated )to farm gear for delve build, then play delve until you get bored, all that about a week(~150hours) then league is obviously dead
I do see your points on the lack of end game but they did say in their next patch 1.1 they are expanding the mono's an adding pinnacle boss fights so they are adding end game stuff very soon. One thing u said about not being able to farm for another class on the one your playing is just not true change your loot filter to be the one u wanna farm for an u get plenty of stuff for that class. PoE has been out for 15 years an LE 6 days so it's not really two games u can compare.
i was referring to this forum.lastepoch.com/t/does-your-class-affect-class-related-item-drops/62237/2 . not comparing the two games, just pointing out things i like and dislike in both games. both games are good
LE feels like a soulless arcade game to me. It stinks artificial. The lack of endgame can be fixed with time but the fundamentals it built upon won't change. Fun to tinker around but that's it.
Last Epoch is almost in that same situation as Diablo 4 was. No real endgame other than just farming your gear. I say similar as Last Epoch’s item chase imo is way better than Diablo 4’s as much as I love D4. Last Epoch has the best class system from an ARPG that I’ve seen and I’m stoked for its future but yeah short term it’ll be one or two characters to 100 and done for me.
I feel like most LE streamers i watch enjoy the game and say its good but they just dont show that...spark for the game, they did the same when D4 released, like its good, but its just missing that GIRTH of gameplay
PoE release back then was also similar to what is happening Last Epoch or much better. Give a couple cycles as what we know they will add more pinnacle in 1.1 patch
Overall I agree, for me, the game is better than PoE but it does not have enough to have some longevity, the game is better but it will quickly dry up if you are sweaty try hard, like most PoE players are I would say it's great "desert" between PoE try harding and burning out to just chill and blast on LE, I think it's great for PoE players especially those long term to go back and forth

Top marks for your excellent analysis.
my thoughts exactly. there's incredible potential here, glad to be in early so I can appreciate what it grows into later.
great vid as usual! love casual discussions
I actually enjoyed a video! Nicely put
I like what you saying you talking like gamer i like that wish you best❤

I don't know what build you have been playing but there are a lot of builds that can zoom around pretty quick.

There is only 168 hrs in a week did you play some in early access

You only have 5000 hours on PoE?!
100% agree

Boneshatter all day long!!

Blessings not carrying over definitely feels kinda weird.
I like the game but it doesn't hold me the same way other games do.
I suppose when the progression is tied to the character it inflates the end game

Poe has some of the worst endgame game play loop ever. Its for no lifers. Just kill anything before it kills you. Just random off-screen one shots.
