  • New to Last Epoch? Worried about leaving OP items on the ground? This is for you.
    This video was filmed about 1 week into the new 1.0 Patch, and I'm firmly a COF (Circle of Fortune) enjoyer. I'm a solo player, no trading or partying, and this is how I evaluate the items that I see on the ground.

    The biggest takeaway in this video that you could expand a lot on is that knowledge of other builds is dictating a lot of your decisions. Even a long time player who has never played a void knight wouldn't blink at skipping over an idol with chance to bleed and void damage. I don't know if that's good, but I know there are VK skills that care about bleeds. The point is if you don't know what other builds want to do, you can't imagine why affix A would ever pair well with affix J.
    Knowledge like this is not easy to remember - playing a wide range of characters is probably the best way to develop it, but maybe you could make a video about some of the more unintuitive affix pairings that are actually good. Which classes and builds scale super heavily off of which stat, and what really good items might look like for that build - even if that item set is just in your stash and not on a character.

    Would love a version of this for the expiremental bases and how to handle those. Got a stash tab full of different ones for potential builds but really don't know which builds they would shine in.

      I like experimental bases for the guaranteed sealed affix you get from them. Since they’re all hybrid you can prioritize half the affix, like I don’t care about volatile zombies but guaranteed sealed minion damage is lovely and it’s the same mod.

    There's a 5% chance to fail a t1 seal on an exalted. I was one of the "lucky" people to fail a t1 and a t2 seal in a row

    So the basic rule here is if you can’t think of a build that you want to play that would love this item, leave it. Now, a new player might say: “But I don’t have the same level of gaming knowledge, so what if I leave good loot on the ground just because I don’t know what it’s good for?” As a newer player myself, I feel that. My advice is to not worry about it. Loot is plentiful and crafting is powerful, so when you eventually do need the thing that you left on the ground months ago, you can get it. The truly rare things in this game are high LP uniques, which are easy to identify.
    TL;DR: only pick up gear you know is useful. As you play more builds, you’ll be able to recognize more good items. You won’t miss the things you didn’t pick up.

    If you're a mere mortal like me that doesn't have an encyclopedic knowledge of lots meta builds and stats for those builds, do what I do and hide exalted affixes for items that don't directly impact the build you are playing at that moment. It will save you a lot of headache and stash space. With time spent playing the game and watching content, you will slowly figure out what you want for builds you might want to play down the line and can start altering you filter when that time comes.

    Why do you prefer flat damage to % damage but the opposite in health? Is just flat damage values overturned so they good from start to end? I kinda like it with health because it’s a logical fear and stat progression to go from flat to % the stronger u get

    • @PerrythePig
      @PerrythePig  5 месяцев назад

      well your character gains flat hp per level, and hybrid health has flat on it already, for starters. Flat damage only comes from one place for the most part -- your weapon -- so you often need to prioritize it there.
      You're right -- flat health is definitely better than %health early on in your character's progression.

  • @YouMayKnowMeAsNate

    19:07 if you already have a bunch of increased fire damage or smt, though, while having no increased melee damage, would increased melee damage effectively be a more multiplier? Or would melee damage get lumped into the same variable as the increased fire damage?

    • @TheWingManGaming
      @TheWingManGaming 6 месяцев назад +1

      Think of it like this:
      Each flat damage source has it's own scaling calculation, based on the skill tags.
      Say you have 100 Melee Damage from your weapon and you use a Fire Spell. That becomes 100 Melee Fire.
      Now if you have say +300% Fire Damage and +0% Melee Damage, your damage becomes 400.
      Now if you add in +50% Melee Fire and +150% Melee, your damage becomes 600.
      Increases that meet the scaling tags of the skill are always Increases, never More.
      Adding another Flat 20 Melee Lightning damage for example, would add 50 Melee Lightning, since it ignores the Fire scaling and just used the Melee.

    Hi Perry, about melee damage. Do you think it would be a situation, like for example: your build rive plus healing hands (with the melee attack node) where this would be nice to have so it scales both skills since rive is pshysical melee but HH fire melee?

    • @-_-5470
      @-_-5470 6 месяцев назад

      Yes, but Attack Speed and Crit Multi are sinoly better, because you already get so much flat damage from Healing Effect scaling

    Why all the hate on flat health? 500% health on a base 1 health is way worse than 100% health on a base 20, for instance.

    • @PerrythePig
      @PerrythePig  6 месяцев назад

      at level 100, t7 %health is going to give me more HP than t7 flat health. At each step of the way, its basically shades of gray for that premise.

    • @wallacebonner7939
      @wallacebonner7939 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@PerrythePig Okay, just looked at health per level for Last Epoch and you get 800 base health just for leveling. Figuring that, the least amount of health you can get with a T7 percentage health is 240 and the maximum you get with flat health is 225, so I see your point. That begs the question as to why they bothered adding T7 flat health to the game then.
