    One of the greatest nights of my life. The cameraman's assistants were pushing me back to film the shots of the band from the front of the stage, so this is pretty much the view I had of the gig. The atmosphere was electric.....

    @telecomboring I'm not trolling at all... In my opinion, some mouse clicks on a program, mixing some sounds you didn't even made yourself is not music... Music's supposed to be about instrumental skills... Playing guitar and clicking on a fucking mouse is the same thing, in your opinion?
    Oh and, about Bob... I'm not saying he wasn't good, but compared to real old style reggae, he's nothing. He's just being uber-commercialised and that's shameful to say he represents reggae.

    @trynyte @trynyte Your obviously upset over something with your rant against Joe. But surely u should add some facts to back up your arguement!!! Otherwise you just come across as talking out of your arse! IMO not many ppl can say they the were more politically active, caring or passionate as the Clash. Maybe Billy Bragg or RATM. But I certainly dont c how u can call him/them a sellout. I eagerly await your retort.

  • @PBANDSNOW
    @PBANDSNOW 13 лет назад

    @lynch42o Its not about having “Soul”. The first album didn’t have enough tracks, so they decided to make a rock n roll version.
    This is the farthest thing from the original, so you may as well say that “Sweet Child O Mine” didn’t have soul like Junior Murvins “police And Theives”.

  • @PBANDSNOW
    @PBANDSNOW 13 лет назад

    @offensive80 The shirt was made to be against the RAF. Its a Brigade Rosse shirt. Brigade Rosse was an Italian terrorist group from the 60/70’s. Joe bought the shirt because his dad, being a foreign diplomat (but strangely, Joe was poor as hell after he left home) was constantly talking about them.

  • @bloodyhoody2
    @bloodyhoody2 13 лет назад

    @telecomboring I'd also like to add that a lot of electronic hip-hop/rap music is just rip-off from real artists... Which just totaly sucks... Adding some scratches on a Johnny Cash song and some beat isn't music... That's just... Making money over someone else...

  • @StrummerJoe10
    @StrummerJoe10 12 лет назад

    So what? i don't get why the incredible need to say Junior Murvin did this and not The Clash, it's an excelent cover totally different from the original (this one is more Punk) this original Reggae song is a proof that covering is not just making a worst single than the original, The Clash were masters in doing that, just look for songs that were improved (in my opinion) like Wrong 'em' Boyo, I Fought the Law, Revolution Rock, Police on my Back and many others.

  • @StrummerJoe10
    @StrummerJoe10 12 лет назад

    The shirt is about Rote Armee Fraktion or RAF. The RAF was a Communist German armed faction like many others in the Cold War World. What Joe did by using the shirt was not declaring support for those groups, but calling the world's attention to them so everyone could know they existed, afterall The Clash was not an armed solution supporter and you can see that in many songs like Tommy Gun

  • @jamesandrew2000
    @jamesandrew2000 14 лет назад

    @Faceshot103 long hair and greaser jackets playing sped up Sha na na covers. Have you even listened to their early music, Blitzkrieg bop!? Are you fucking kidding? Jerry Lee Lewis, MC5 and The Stooges were far more punk without even being"punk". That's like saying Nirvana "invented" grunge because you bought a copy of Nevermind. The Ramones were certainly there at the inception of a trend, but what exactly did they invent. Nothing.

  • @stubkar
    @stubkar 14 лет назад

    I dig the Clash, but........I've never heard so much gushing over a cover song. You can talk about how their version is a great rendition/interpretation of the original, but don't wax poetic about the "power of the lyrics" or the actual music....they're just re-doing someone else's thing...It's like someone going nuts over ANY song off Led Zeppelin's first album...
    But I do like the Clash.

  • @nri1969

    I would bet they wrote "London's Burning" from personal experiences with speed, but by this point in time (late '77-early '78) I don't think these guys were getting into anything heavier than herb and stout, although the drummer developed an opiate addiction later on. Sometimes just the music itself is enough to wire a person up this way. Check out Ian Curtis from Joy Division for another good example of that.

    This was filmed at a nightclub at a punk club in Birmingham England called Barbarellas just across the road from the Rum Runner where Duran Duran started. It was shit hot back in the day and had nearly all the top up and coming punk bands of the day and it was ownrd by Eddie Fewtrell a legend in Birmingham.

    I like this song. Please accept Jesus as your personal savior my friend, by repenting from your own sins and converting into His name and being saved by grace (Ephesians 2.8-10), as a free gift of God to you, and you are a newborn christian (2 Corinthians 5.17). Read also John 3.16 and 1 Timothy 2.5. God bless you

  • @Goochlore

    @chucho90pulsar if you would have givin the virgin wolves a listen, you would have relized that it is FAR from crying-screaming emo. plus the virgin wolves actually have talent. They are a local band and not mainstream bullshit like the clash. You sure can think for yourself and listen to what every 'punk' kid listens to in highschool and jr high.

    God, I missed this. Fucking hell, I missed this. I grew up on the Clash, but was too young by about 5 years. I remember 'Clash City Rockers' in my parents' basement in 1988, but I was too late. I am so happy to have their recorded music, but I missed them live. I painted my parent's roof to 'London Calling' over a solid 5 days in 1989 and thought I had died.

    I wonder how many red thumbs i will get for saying this..... But in my opinion Joey Ramone was the greatest front man, Im not sayin the clash was shit or strummer was shit, far from it ! the clash was the greatest british punk band but they dident have a patch on the Ramones.... To be honest if there was no Ramones there would be no buzzcocks , pistols, or the Clash

    To that genius saying the clash aren't punk you are right they aren't. They are their own genre, the clash will always be the greatest pioneers in music. It sucks if you are bashing on them man because strummer did more than just sing. And I am not from the uk

    I remember watching the bootleg of RUDE BOY--and worshiping this performance--back in the '80s when you couldn't just look stuff up on Google. Had to pay $30 for it at some record shop--you remember those dontcha?--and watched it for every penny's worth. That's how we did.

  • @horseloveridge
    @horseloveridge 13 лет назад

    @toddmlbauer I recognise this from the movie Rude Boy. It's a crap film but has some amazing live perfomences on it that are really worth watching. They were filmed in 1978 and 1979. the film was released in 1980 and follows a guy that works as a roadie on a clash tour.

  • @Baewofe1
    @Baewofe1 14 лет назад

    Apparently, after Rude Boy was shot, all of the live footage was of such bad audio quality, that they had to rerecord it in the studio. That is why the audio is so good on this clip. If true, that Clash did a pretty good job of redoing the performances in synch with the video.

  • @telecomboring

    @bloodyhoody2 I do not agree with that narrow minded statement. An electronic instrument is a real instrument.
    Bob Marley is "real" reggae and he was fantastic.
    Then again you're probably just trollin.

  • @SunnyChenrock
    @SunnyChenrock 13 лет назад

    Maybe they don't sing or play instruments well, but it doesn't matter, their music still fucking awesome!!!!! My so-called great music, is what they wrote in lyrics and how they express by music. ;)

    @udrinkpiss you stand alone with that ridiculous comment. junior murvin should have been honored that the clash played this song. but instead he was intimidated by this amazing sound they produced that he had never even dreamed about. your the one that sucks.

  • @bassdinskadiff

    well...punk was essentially started by bands like the stooges in that era.
    and sex pistols, as much as i love them were a poser punk band. they were formed by mclaren to make money and a style. which is what punk is meant to stand up against stuff like that.

  • @TheGreatBamboozler

    @charly9927 and dooglemeister. this has been the most level headed and respectful comment stream i have ever seen. as a fan of both bands (and while they CERTAINLY are different bands) i must agree that the Clash are the better of the two.

  • @saintwnohalo
    @saintwnohalo 14 лет назад

    Junior Murvin probably did...Reggae and Punk bands toured together at that time and even collaborated at times...i love how genres that seem so different can unite...this is a great remake of Murvin's song which was great already

    Never could realize what this "reggae" does have to do with real punk-rock? Honestly, there's almost nothing to listen from this band - sorry! - to compare it with the giants like The Lurkers, The Vibrators, The Damned, 7 Seconds, etc.

  • @barnymcdanfake

    this is footage from the film rudeboy, i think this is where 'ray' (the protaganist) falls in love with joe (joe) hence why the focus is on those 2 rather than the band. you should watch the film if you like the clash and as you clearly fancy paul.
