I'll never forget the raw terror I felt seeing this thing descend from the sky for the first time. It's like HAL was fully aware that Kirby final bosses are seen as otherworldly abominations - and completely leaned into that!
In Norse Mythology, Baldr, the god of light, was unkillable, because everything had made a vow to never harm him. However, there was one lone exception, the mistletoe plant. Loki, being the trickster god he is, arranged Baldr's death by mistletoe. Depending on the version of the story, the killing weapon is instead a _sword_ named mistletoe - or in the original Norse, "Mistilteinn". Also depending on the story, this sword is sometimes found within the underworld, Helheim, on account of being so apparently wicked. So here, the story of little trickster goofball Magolor, traversing the underworld looking for a way home, makes a few choice allusions to Norse Mythology.
The mistletoe is also a parasite that grows in the canopy of trees, and in several (if not all?) Scandinavian languages the word for canopy translates roughly to "tree crown". Additionally, in some versions of the Death of Baldr myth, the reason why the mistletoe can harm Baldr is because of a loophole in the vow. Everything that had touched the earth vowed not to harm Baldr, but because the mistletoe grows in trees it has never touched the earth.

So we got Parallel and the Mirror world. The Parallels are the mirror world version of the alternate universe. Or maybe it's *not* an alternate universe? But if that's not the case, then that still means Magolor in that alternate universe is the real Magolor from the actual universe. Makes sense.

The weirdest bit of lore this fight brings is that both *Mistilteinn and Void Termina* share the same attack. The attack where they shoot an array of lazers are both refer to the Master Crown of 'Crown of Hatred and Obsession'. It also suggests that there could be multiple crowns in existence since Void Termina has the power to summon some. Whether the crowns are just objects containing extreme negative power, are containing dark matter or are their own entity on themselves is not known.
It should be pointed out that even the bases of Void Termina's weapons resemble the Master Crown. Personally I think its true nature is a mere extension of Void Termina's infinite power.
I'm pretty sure every Kirby final boss has some move or detail that links back to Void Terminal. Even Necrodeus, the most obscure Kirby antagonist shares his giant laser beam with Void. Well all barring dedede, anyway.
@@sammoore2082 I don't mean share an attack as in they both do the same attack, I mean in-game they are refered to by the same name. The name connects the two.

New lore we got from this game (warning: pretty long) : *Magolor isn't actually from Halcandra + Magolor learned of the ancients and their creations from a dusty tome he found while traveling through Halcandra, initially believing it to be a fairytale. That last part makes me think the book was the book of legend that Hyness's clan wrote before he and his religion got it... Regardless, it was definitely written by the ancients themselves. *The Master Crown does give its wearer infinite power, but in exchange for slowly devouring their soul and amplifying the darkness in their heart and turning it into hatred. Also, the Master Crown has been used by other people for their own nefarious deeds in the past. It also apparently absorbs their negative emotions. *The Doomers, way back when, had a different form where they could warp space and time. *Metal General was used by (presumably) the ancients as a security guard and a weapon to exterminate enemies on other planets. *Both Kirby Clash games are canon, and simply take place in an alternate universe. The Magolor we see in the Kirby Clash games is actually our Magolor who ended up there after the events of Magolor Epilogue. He would eventually somehow return to the main universe in Kirby's Dream Collection. This also means Galacta Knight retroactively made his first canon appearance in the Kirby Clash games. *The Gem Apples in the Kirby Clash games originate from the giant Gem Apple that Magolor was reassembling the pieces of in order to restore himself in Magolor Epilogue. After the Master Crown fused with it and was defeated, Magolor was left with a single small Gem Apple. When he arrived in the Dream Kingdom, he planted the Gem Apple, which would grow into the Gem Apple Tree. The Dream Kingdom would then use Gem Apples as a currency. *Speculative Theory: in the battle with the Master Crown, we see an apocalyptic city (I think it might be Egg Engines?) as the background. Since we know the Master Crown is sentient + has had past users, I think it is showing a past memory, where it was used by someone to rain down destruction on Halcandra, which might explain why it looks like the way it does now. God, the way they finish this all up with this battle is truly masterful. The Master Crown doesn't even look like it belongs in a Kirby game, yet does at the same time. I can't wait to see what they have next in store. !!Edit: Okay, so there is some lore that that was left out of the English localization. I'll list them below as I find the Japanese pause descriptions (which is surprisingly hard) *Landia is not only a dragon, but a guardian deity. That means Landia is of some kind of divine status, though I suppose one would be able to tell from his English title of Guardian Angel. *The Japanese description kinda confirms that the Master Crown is basically a world destroyer, stating that it has "traveled through many worlds and lands," probabaly corrupting its victims in the worlds and influencing them to destroy them. Wtf were the ancients thinking when they made this thing lmao
@@segafan1316 It mentions the book in Magolor EX's pause description, and Magolor says he's not from Halcandra when talking to him in Extra Mode after collecting all Energy Spheres.
@@segafan1316 So Halcandra got desecrated by one of its creations... but then got subdued by the guardian Landia? Interesting on why Landia didn't want to give up the crown... not because of knowing Magolor is wanting its dark power, but because it seen the full force of the nightmarish artifact
@@friendlybendy2070 my main guess that the landia we fough in the extra mode is a landia who didn't expirience onward the events of the fight this or it was just too overconfident that this time it will win it have a good heart but my belive they were a bit of thought that this time they can win and stop because they know they are the only one who able to hold the crown with little problems and they can't either destroy it and give up on it or leave it will still give a higher chance to mag or anyone to get their hands on it
i think people’s general perspective on kirby lore just being “lol he kills gods for cake” is weak shit and its way more deeper than that and this kinda proved my point lmao
Fun fact: When we translate ‘apple’ in Korean, the word we translated in Korean does not only mean the fruit, or a company’s name, but it also means ‘to apologize’ in verb. That means magolor collects fragments of the gem apple to redeem his sins and apologize to kirby and friends.
If we take this one step further, Magolor's ventures through the other dimensions and Defeating the final boss to return to his original world is very reminiscent of Judas traveling through Hell to cut down the tree that housed the apple of forbidden knowledge. In a sense, Magolor is Judas venturing through a hell equivalent to redeem himself and stop the root of the game's evil force from returning.
If you listen to the lower strings at 1:35, you can hear the "Road to Victory" leitmotif. Of course, there are other leitmotifs and call backs but I don't think people noticed that one.
I love how there are two recurring themes within the comments section, with the first one being "The tree represents mistletoe, the one thing that can kill the god of light, and the apple represents the fruit of Eden, the Original Sin", and the other being "lmao whispy woods freakin RIPPED"
the feeling of “oh _shit_ “ i had when the boss health bar had the words “master crown” appear under it was insane, the crown being the final boss of the epilogue was one of my predictions that wasn’t the common prediction of morpho knight but i absolutely wasn’t it expecting to become a tree. i love how the wings that the crown has is similar/the same as what magolor has in his second form/soul form in his boss fights, i also liked how the crown has something like void terminas master crown attack that he uses during his flying phase!! i loved the epilogue and this was the perfect finale to it (:

Mistilteinn: Old Norse for mistletoe, which grows on the crowns of apple trees. Also the name of Hrómundr Gripsson's sword in Hrómundar saga Gripssonar, an Icelandic legendary tale. And no guesses as to how Magalor deals the finishing blow to the Master Crown. What a specific pull for a song title.
To be fair we've already had "Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit" in Forgotten Land so honestly pulling from Icelandic mythology is kind of a step down from that
I'd like to add something in context to mistletoe in relation to the Norse people In Norse mythology there's a famous myth about Loki killing Baldur (basically Norse Jesus) with an arrow made of mistletoe, the only thing that could hurt him. Now there's one thing about this, though. All surviving Norse mythology was written down AFTER the region was Christianized meaning what we have is likely influenced by Christianity. It is believed that Loki was associated with Satan and Baldur with Jesus. We simply don't know anything about this myth from before it was influenced by Christianity. Curiously however, even though it was used as a weapon against the most beloved god in the pantheon, the mistletoe plant is seen as a sign of love and peace. This just makes it more eerie when you consider the fact that a tree possessed by a demonic entity hellbent on destruction is named after a sign of love and peace.
I think I just learned a great lesson and that is that when HAL creates a Kirby game they always take their Lore seriously to such an extent that things that were once non-canon find the craziest but reasonably logical way to make them canon. .. Take notes Kingdom Heart's!
They Straight up said “We are going to make the Team Kirby Clash Games Canon, Explain the origins of Gem apples and show off halcandras Destruction all in one boss fight!”

I mostly was teasing my sibling when doing this blind together as I already noticed that Whispy Woods was not in the trailers and went like 'what if' The surprise was hilarious to see a tree as finale though.
If I had a nickel for every time Whispy Woods had a Yggdrasil variant, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice right?
I literally played and beat this mode for the first time last month. I’m so upset I waited this long to play it, and that I waited this long to hear this incredible boss theme.
See, it’s stuff like this that makes a Kirby game feel so special. They don’t have to go so hard on a final boss theme for something kiddie-looking like Kirby… and yet, here we are. Pipe organs, angelic choirs, musical connections to other games in the series, and it can have the power to sway emotions upon listening to it. I bow to Kirby’s soundtrack writers and composers. We don’t deserve such excellent musical art 0.0
So what I like to acknowledge is that the boss fight descriptions given about this crown kind help elaborate on what it truly is It's technically dark matter but not at the same time. It gives power to the darkness in one's heart, so it gives the user it's own dark matter-esque form. (If that makes sense lol)
What I think is that the ancients used what they knew about void to make the artifacts. They based their technology and magic heavily around Void from what we see. There are other things that's not Void related like the portals that came from Elfilin but you get the idea
No it's actually void. Void is highly linked to emotions and negative ones turn void evil and destructive. The crown basically turns anyone into void. When wearing it you can too transform into an evil God from your negative emotions Further proof: tree crown uses one of marx's attacks, those attacks don't actually belong to marx though, they are shared attacks between void and all soul bosses, but since this isn't a soul boss that means it must have a direct link to void. Conclusion: the master crown was imbued with void, not dark matter, it it was dark matter it would only be evil, but as we see landia can use it for good, just like how void can be turned good through positive emotions.
Considering that Void Termina uses master crowns in the laser and sword attacks. I believe that the RtDL Master Crown is a creation of void given a will of it's own So it isnt exactly dark matter, but it acts in a similar way
Never have I expected to fight the Master Crown as a big golden tree, with a big red glaring eyeball. But it was one of the most epic bosses I think I have ever faced in a Kirby game.
Not only that, but it fits the apple tree motif, as Eve eating the apple in The Garden of Eden was man's first sin. I cannot believe Magolor beat up the physical embodiment of sin then travelled back in time to invent capitalism.
And this is why I love this series a lot, never thought each Kirby game would have their own storyline and their original soundtrack but are still part of the series
A few years ago, when I still had a fully working 3ds, I used to live day by day. Only caring about reaching tomorrow evening, as it was the only time my parents let me play. For that reason, I seem to have forgot how much I actually played Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. And yet, the leitmotifs from that game used in this song brought the memories back immediatly. They've been this way since Nightmare. Dedede was the first, last, and only hinged final boss.
We need a step by step description

The attack where they shoot an array of lazers are both refer to the Master Crown of 'Crown of Hatred and Obsession'. It also suggests that there could be multiple crowns in existence since Void Termina has the power to summon some.
Whether the crowns are just objects containing extreme negative power, are containing dark matter or are their own entity on themselves is not known.
It should be pointed out that even the bases of Void Termina's weapons resemble the Master Crown. Personally I think its true nature is a mere extension of Void Termina's infinite power.

New lore we got from this game (warning: pretty long) :
*Magolor isn't actually from Halcandra + Magolor learned of the ancients and their creations from a dusty tome he found while traveling through Halcandra, initially believing it to be a fairytale.
I'll list them below as I find the Japanese pause descriptions (which is surprisingly hard)
*Landia is not only a dragon, but a guardian deity.
Where did ya got Magolor's backstory from? But yeah during the battle we see Egg Engine's buildings, so this is it showing how Halcandra was destroyed

Another thing:
Mistletoes are basically parasitic by stealing nutriens from their host tree
To be fair we've already had "Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit" in Forgotten Land so honestly pulling from Icelandic mythology is kind of a step down from that
I'd like to add something in context to mistletoe in relation to the Norse people
In Norse mythology there's a famous myth about Loki killing Baldur (basically Norse Jesus) with an arrow made of mistletoe, the only thing that could hurt him.

Now that i think about, The wings of the Master Crown looks similiar to Daiyousei's wings from the Touhou Project series. I know that it wasn't made in purpose but i feel like this similarity.
@@switchds9145 I think that wasn’t on purpose by Nintendo but yeah
oh wow alright, so Magolor can get the Final Boss treatment too when he is the protag, this is POGGERS
Honestly this design is one of the final boss ones that goes the hardest imo LOL
Hey, remember that one time where microtransactions?
*that’s part of the lore now.*
*Lyrics by Juno Songs*
So the weight of my sins has become a goliath
The final foe before I can triumph
The final bastion holding me back from bringing my heart back to light
I know the world can't forgive...
But it gave me this chance
To finally be a hero and set things right,
Shatter the master's reign
I will fight so the crown can't seduce me again!
I know that the darkness's design
I must atone for all my crimes
Resolve to use this magic of mine
To fell the kingless crown!
Silence the calling of the void
So no more souls can be destroyed!
Cut the strings that rendered me a toy
And chop this tyrant down
To the ground!
This crown will never let this poor magic fool forget the crimes that he has perpetrated!
All I can do for now is move forward, never bow again to its hatred!
The darkness within my heart
I must extinguish its flame
And bring back the light
Kirby showed me with his soul!
Kirby I will come back to you,
Where the spring breeze blows,
Once Magolor has atoned,
I hope we may be true friends again...
If you will have me once more, I swear
When you need me, I'll be there...
HEAR ME, YOU MONSTER!
YOU ARE NO MASTER OF MINE!
Join my sins... BURN AND DIE!!!
With the magic I have worked to recover
I'll stop what I dared to begin
Now my quest through space's hell is soon over
I'll do anything that it takes to win!
Put your dukes up, you weed!
Now you tangle with me!
I'm the one who rose past your corruption!
No more will you extend
Your roots of darkness, I'll end
The Master Crown's vile conquest, I will rise once more like the sun!
Heroes must stand up for what they believe
I may have learned that too late, but...
Learning too late will not stop me
From blowing down all your leaves
Cut the fruit you devoured free
I alone can defeat the tree crown
Without... a... KING!

I find it funny how the fight plays out exactly like I'd imagine a wispy soul would play out
Damn Wispy Woods really had a glowup in this game.
It's funny how kirby games start all cute with you fighting a tree and end as the universe itself is about to collapse with you fighting a tree
Not surprised since a fair chunk of HAL’s staff also worked on the Mother series.

Reminds me of “Intermezzo without a Leader”
Let's say you come accros an evil tree
Yeah I don't think that kid is surviving this one...
You again?!
By himself, Magolor would be in trouble!
But if there where capitalism within him,
Ref at mass attack of kirby game!
Love the intro going from awe at this nature giant, to horror when you see the crown possessing it, to determination to defeat it.
The perfect song for confronting the living embodiment of Catholic Guilt.
I remember me and my nephew's exact blind reaction
"Wait....what is this, what is happening..what-"
My nephew: : "oh wot the-"
*The tree came floating down*
"What-" *absolute silence*
"What....the.....fuck...is that?"
My nephew: your gonna die- "WHAT IS THAT"
Nephew: your gonna die-
*Name reveals as the master crown*
Me and my nephew: "WHAAAAAAT"
I mostly was teasing my sibling when doing this blind together as I already noticed that Whispy Woods was not in the trailers and went like 'what if'
The surprise was hilarious to see a tree as finale though.

It’s a masterpiece.
If I had a nickel for every time Whispy Woods had a Yggdrasil variant, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice right?

Final boss: literally a tree

When I saw the tree fall through the portal I thought we were actually getting a variant of wispy woods for the final boss

So what I like to acknowledge is that the boss fight descriptions given about this crown kind help elaborate on what it truly is
It's technically dark matter but not at the same time. It gives power to the darkness in one's heart, so it gives the user it's own dark matter-esque form. (If that makes sense lol)
That explains the similarities between magolor soul and dark matter
essentially a catalyst of dark matter void somehow created with the ancients at halcandra perfecting it
What I think is that the ancients used what they knew about void to make the artifacts. They based their technology and magic heavily around Void from what we see. There are other things that's not Void related like the portals that came from Elfilin but you get the idea
No it's actually void. Void is highly linked to emotions and negative ones turn void evil and destructive. The crown basically turns anyone into void. When wearing it you can too transform into an evil God from your negative emotions
Further proof: tree crown uses one of marx's attacks, those attacks don't actually belong to marx though, they are shared attacks between void and all soul bosses, but since this isn't a soul boss that means it must have a direct link to void.
Conclusion: the master crown was imbued with void, not dark matter, it it was dark matter it would only be evil, but as we see landia can use it for good, just like how void can be turned good through positive emotions.
Considering that Void Termina uses master crowns in the laser and sword attacks. I believe that the RtDL Master Crown is a creation of void given a will of it's own
So it isnt exactly dark matter, but it acts in a similar way
Who took the Tree Crown's ruler?
It needs it to measure things.
Magolor is kinda like the Once-ler from The Lorax.
Kill trees, embrace capitalism.
*He can never truly be the Once-ler until people start shipping his normal form with his soul form.*

Who'd ever thought you could turn the Town theme from Super Kirby Clash into something sinister?
That’s HAL for ya.
could say the same thing for Void’s green greens
@@tangelaspaghetti5174 Void is probably this boss but tree form and is after Magolor
I guess to be fair, the town theme is already remixed in Clash's Ordeal themes (which you even hear in the 2:37 mark) but GOD yeah it's so foreboding
Void’s Green Greens is more melancholic than sinister
The beginning is perfect. Sounds so holy and angelic, and as the final boss comes into full view twists into horrifyingly demonic. Just perfect.
It perfectly re-encapsulates the same vibe the beginning of CROWNED gave me
Not only that, but it fits the apple tree motif, as Eve eating the apple in The Garden of Eden was man's first sin. I cannot believe Magolor beat up the physical embodiment of sin then travelled back in time to invent capitalism.
Kirby final bosses really love starting their music off with bells, stringed instruments and a choir. And I'm really all here for it.
If you fight the boss correctly everything they do will match the music.
Alongside nostalgia.
You know, while I was playing I through the epilogue I was wondering why there was no Wispy Woods variant to fight like there is with the other bosses. I guess this answers my question?
whispy woods got a huge promotion in this mode going from the first boss to the last one
