To me the logic for starting with the Willpower discipline is a mixture of helping to leverage her mystic pool, but also so that she can take In The Thick Of It putting both of the trauma on the same pool (so either 5/7 or 7/5). And then like Matt mentions if you end up in the danger zone, you've got the healing on the board ready to deal with it. The three XP from Thick of It is pretty nice for Lily to take things like Brand of Cthugha.
Scroll of prophecies can help draw to her key cards, or simply refill on events and skills. It’s also thematically perfect for the chosen one as well. Keen eye seems good too, considering how many attacks she can do in a turn. Could even go keen eye(0) and upgrade it later, then replace the deckslot with another guardian(0) card, such as prepared for the worst.
Something you mentioned really peaked my interest. I've always been under the assumption and belief that the Edge of the Earth investigators can only ever have 5 of their starting classes card colours, at level 0, and die to it being a deck building requirement, thatb one can't even buy more than 5 later with xp, and can only have the original 5. Do you have any FAQ or rules snippet to show this or such?
I am not sure that I understand your question but assume you are referring to multiclass cards. While it is true Lily may have only 5 Level 0 Guardian cards in her deck, Mystic/Guardian multiclass cards don't count against that limit. That is why the text refers to 'other' Guardian cards. Multiclass cards used to count against the 5-card limit, but the rule changed when Edge of the Earth was released.
@@TheWhispererinDarkness Yes, ok,v that I got. My question is essentially can Lilly Chen for example ever pay xp to buy more than her original 5 guardian lvl 0 starting cards? I'm under the assumption this never possible which is the crutch that makes these investigators so tricky to build.... Have I been mistaken and if so do you have any rules links or rulings etc? Thank you. Hoping that's more understandable haha..
Lily may have only five other Level 0 Guardian cards in her deck at one time. She could spend 1 XP to purchase a new Level 0 Guardian card at some point during a campaign, but she would need to remove one of her other Level 0 Guardian cards to make room for it. The rules are on page 5 of the Rules Reference under 'campaign play.' Generally speaking, players tend to avoid spending XP to replace Level 0 cards with other Level 0 cards, but you could make a case for it in certain situations. For example, if you know the next scenario in a campaign is vulnerable to certain cards, say Dynamite Blast, but you don't have Dynamite Blast in your deck, then spending 1 XP to replace one of your other Level 0 Guardian cards with Dynamite Blast may be worthwhile. One way to get around the XP cost is to increase your deck size somehow since you get to add those cards for free. However, you would still need to observe the 5-card limit.
@@TheWhispererinDarkness Oh my! Are you for real!? Say what now!? This changes everything about the EotE investigators... They do dang hard to build. Been playing it as you could never switch or change those 5 cards. In some cases of definitely do so, for example in Lily Chen if you try build her without magic, without spells, ahhh, so hard. This will cost some xp but we got Delve Too Deep haha, delving like some dwarves in Moria. This is great news. Thank you so much for clarifying this.
Brain discipline is the default choice because lily cant use bangbangs + machete taboo means she has very few ways to hurt things with fists. Have to lean into the spells at first, probably with the dragon pole. Also, if you're intending to go for cyclopean hammer (and why wouldn't you) brain still helps do things.
45 XP does not seem like a lot, at least not with D2D and in campaigns like TCU or TFA. Also, how do you count the pips in case of myriad cards? Could she buy Spiritual Resolve for 5 XP to raise herself a level? The wording "XP she earned" seem to counter that, but it would be weird to track if you don't just count the pips, given the existence of XP discount cards, too.
You may either fight or evade, as long as each action is different, which usually requires that you use fight/evade actions on different assets/events.
2 intellect really doesn't matter a damn with Lily, Drawn to the Flame is a staple for a reason! I find at 0xp she excels at enemy management and encounter manipulation, Scrying leans into her build hugely.
We've been playing a Rex + Lily duo through every campaign, with me on Lily, and she is just insanely good once she spins up. The first scenario can be slightly rough depending on the campaign but after that she just murders.
What do you mean? They just don't count towards deck size, but they still count against other limits. Like Geared Up would count towards her 5 level 0 Guardian cards, or Keen Eye would count towards the XP she earned.

Cyclopean Hammer... well, you might find that it makes the game too easy, that's one reason why you wouldn't.

Myriad you get all 3 copies for the cost of one. It's busted!
with balance of body discipline the 3 actions I can do must be either all attack or all dodge? Or can I switch them?

And yes, Dragon Pole is a must have.
How did it take FFG so long to release such an amazing character! Was always my go to in Eldritch Horror.
Permanent cards do not count towards totals. It does not count towards 0xp total.
