As a Seahawks fan, why is it so hard to get it through his head that it’s not erasing history or being disrespectful but it’s them saying it’s our time now and our time to make our own history here and to get a wall like the greats that were up here before. Well taking down the quotes and mantras is one thing. I think taking down iconic moments in Seattle history is a bit much. Like I know he wants to create some of his own but taking them down feels more like him trying to erase history then it does him wanting to build his own culture.

As a Seahawks fan I'm not going to crap on Macdonald before he's even coached a game. But Carroll had a Superbowl win and a loss, and before him Holmgren had a Superbowl loss. Ignoring the one weird season with Mara, I think the standard has been set. If the Macdonald era fills that blank wall with similar highlights then it's no problem and actually will probably make for a great anecdote for NFL Films productions. If it doesn't then this will be one of the things brought up by sports radio callers when he's run out of town. If you win you're a genius, and if you lose you're a dolt.

We aren’t talking about removing guys from the ring of honor. Obviously Sea doesn’t get the media coverage of other NFL teams… but I will tell you that it has felt like we have been desperately chasing those LoB years. This is a step forward in a new direction that will let these young guys pave their own pathway to being legends in the organization. - Seahawks were chasing the old days just like how most of these once powerful franchises are. It does not work. Start your own era. Seattle has the foundation with Spoon, JSN, DK, K9 let this era be about them
    - It’s also insane that people are making a big deal over a couple of posters that nothing but the players can see. Fun fact all of them see it as an opportunity. It’s not like Macdonald destroyed everything that belonged to Pete. There are things to honor the past within the building

As a 12, who's lived through Hasselbeck Era and LOB-Carroll-Wilson-Super Bowl Era... THIS IS FINE. New Coaching Staff, New Look Seahawks and no more veterans from our SB team minus Schneider. Let MacDonald do what he wants. I understand how it can be disrespectful, but we're not that team anymore. We respect our franchise, we respect our legendary players time after time. Let this new team strive for greatness in their own way. I'm super excited to know that MacDonald "ain't taking no sh*t" and putting the urgency on these young guys. I truly think that that's what this team needs. Maturity and stepping up as the next generation of Seahawks should motivate'em to getting back to being a playoff winning team! Or a team that competes well in our tough division. Super excited, GO HAWKS!

I guess he doesn't ever wanna see any of the iconic players from the LOB Era walking into that facility like they often have done in the past often. Cause if those pictures are really down and it's not just being reorganized they're gonna take it as a slap in the face - and rightfully so. I really hope it's just being redone. man, I can see Richard Sherman going off the deep end about this.

This is about not thinking through the issue. The facility never had a team history area. They are making that now. They are building a place where the team's history can be properly respected. It's not on the wall opposite the bathroom.

I dont think they're pulling down photos of Joe Montana or Tom Brady?!? This is a huge disgrace!!! It wasnt pictures of Carroll... It was removing past legends! Macdonald is already done, and doesn't even know it yet! And Rich! Why are these guys in this show with you? It's ridiculous~

As a Seahawks fan, I’m okay with it. I feel like if I was there, those pictures would always remind me of what could have been. I’d rather more focused towards what *will* be.
I hate thinking about how that era ended. So I’d rather move on and create a new legacy.

Oh ffs, it’s not like they’re throwing the pictures away. They just took them down in the hallway as a motivational ploy to the new team, the team that’s in the building now wanting to make new memories. The other pictures are going to get put up again somewhere else in the building, just not in that part of the building anymore. New memories, new pictures…It’s not really hard to figure out.

They only took down some of the murals and stuff in the halls, many of which were falling down, and are being replaced with video boards.... They still have all the other stuff showing everyone who came before.

How many photos and murals from the Mike Holmgren era were on the walls? Cortez Kennedy and Kenny Easley? Let's be honest, each new regime puts their own stamp on the organization. If they don't, they end up fans sooner than later.

My immediate thought is that it is motivation for the current team to find their own photos up on that wall. The history can't be erased by one wall in a building. I know it's April in the off season, but Rich might just be overthinking this one to fill out a ten minute segment. And you know what? That's okay.

I'm a big Hawks fan. I am going to give Mike McDonald the benefit fo the doubt for two years. I want to see what he can do. I can see taking old picks down this year as part of saying it's time to look forward. I'd also like to see a few of those put back up next year with a large empty area of wall and a sign saying "It's you job to fill this space".

Seahawks fan here. This is in the PLAYER/COACH facility, not the stadium, not any place for the fans. Mike is basically decorating his house. They are not pulling down banners or erasing history. To be fair, when those murals went up, the team started to perform worse.

Personally as someone who has coached highschool debaters who have arrived to be as good if not better than the ones before them. When we reset the board due to all the graduating seniors who have all these points it makes it clear that we will have new points scorers and it mentally makes it clear there is a new class new leadership etc. And as a Seahawks fan I think it's great it's giving a clean slate. It's not disrespectful it's a way of putting ones own stamp on the building. Disney did the same thing with it's animation department in the 80s look what came out after. Sometimes you do some aesthetic changes that don't diminish the past.

Hawks fan. Rich’s argument makes no sense. It’s just taking down pics from the previous era. Completely different than if the bears took down pics of Walter Payton. They aren’t taking down the ring of honor stuff. And it’s not for “motivation.” It’s just a fresh start. That’s literally all it is.
