it was a good call on paper and given the defense shown. but Malcolm made a legendary play. It hurts and should’ve ran but wasn’t a terrible call. Still better than blowing a 25 point lead 🤷🏻♂️
So it wasn’t just me 🥲. The whole interview was a setup for it! All through the interview, hearing Richard giggling, obviously nervous, I kept thinking “he really *really* loves - AND respects - his old coach!” And the way Coach smoothed everything out for him, kept making his old player look good… what a fantastic relationship they have. And then *BOOM* “I’m proud of you”… I gotta say, I am 61 years old, born a d bred lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan, nothing at all invested in these guys, but I grew up with a “dad” who was never anything but a bully, tore me down to nothing, relentlessly, for no reason… I always get the impression that, for all his on field bluster, his Stanford 4.0 academic creds, his Hall of Fame career, I always get the impression that Richard doesn’t believe how amazing he is; he needs to be validated by someone who matters. In that regard I see myself in him. It’s obvious that Richard reveres Coach Carroll. Coach Carroll matters - as much as a father matters. Hearing him say “I’m proud of you” 🥲… that was powerful. To Richard -and- to me. I didn’t know it before… but I love both of these guys.
That 2013 roster was special. The fact that you still have retired players not just living in the Seattle area, or coming to games, they're showing up to training camps, they're chipping in at practice to bring the new guys along, they're giving back to the fans and the community in Seattle, and it proves to me that John and Pete didn't just base their picks on pure talent and athleticism, but also on character and conscience too. These are all men that are committed to the same vision, they are cut from the same cloth, never dwelling on slights but using criticism to fuel their path to improvement, and they are still drawn to one another at the Seahawks complexes and Lumen Field.
One thing I hear from a lot of Seahawks players not just LOB members, but even guys from the backups and practice squads, is when you leave Seattle in the Carroll era you never have that door shut if you don't shut it yourself. And that says a lot about their culture. And you can see that culture isn't just infused in the players and Carroll himself, but the coaches. Their new assistant coach hire, Bates a former player, he was raving about how infectious that sideline culture is from the top down. How everyone seems to be invested. And he's only been there a few weeks it seems and he can already see that difference in approach.

As a fan since 1978, Pete is my favorite coach and I have an affinity for his style and belief in positivity, acceptance, and accountability in growing young people/players into their full potential. It does speak volumes how so many of that Super Bowl winning, LOB team of athletes chose to make their homes in Seattle and are playing roles as mentors to new players. I was pretty worried about the relationship when you left Sherm but seeing you guys together now warms heart. I always felt that there is a lot of similarity between how Coach John Wooden coached and how Pete approaches coaching.
I came here to acknowledge a great interview but it wasn't an interview at the end of the day. This was a beautiful conversation among two friends who did great things together and we all were just blessed to be in the room. Thank you.
Fantastic interview. As a 49er fan, the early 2010 Seahawks/49ers rivalry holds a special place in my heart and Pete and Sherm were centerpieces in that rivalry. Pete obviously cares for his players and looks for guys others don't believe in. That's why he's doing so well with Geno right now.
Same. I'm a Giants fan but love to watch great football and that rivalry was intense. Couldn't watch all the games but I had to go out of my way to watch that 2013 NFC Champ game . I still re-watch that Kapernick to Boldin TD from time to time ( did so 2 nights ago)
Dawgs like Aldon and Patrick Willis and Cam Chancellor, Earl, Sherm, Browner, Bennet, Wagner, Bruce, it was clash of the titans every time and an old school football fan's dream. Loved the sheer physicality and competition but without malice just the need to win and dominate from both sides.
That San Diego game they played, Geno got upset following a play, you saw Carroll basically go "slow your roll" with a motion and it was like errrrrch! Slam the brakes; total mental reset. Geno forgot what happened, led the team down field for a score. Like that was a great moment that told me, as a NFL fan, how in sync he was with his player.
@@Ontooka I'm not sure what you're talking about. During the Harbaugh years the 49ers and Seahawks were 4-4 against each other during the regular season. The NFCCG was obviously the big one that the Seahawks won, all the credit to them for that one.
I actually teared up during this interview. Dunno man, just hits me. The memories for sure, but also the outlook on life and the philosophy about success. And I always think about Shermans mental struggles and his intelligence. I see a very human person in both him and Pete and I love them both.
Who remembers Kam Chancellor blowing up Vernon Davis at the 3 yard line with an absolute fast and vicious hit?!!! Kam Chancellor was an old school hitter, and the boom in the LOB! Love ❤️ ya Kam!
No team is perfect in sports, it's nice to see players and coaches open up and let things out, especially my Seahawks team! To hear the stories, the trials and tribulations of the individual players and coaches, and to hear about the resilience it took to face all the naysayers turned them into one of the best teams ever assembled in NFL history. Thank you Richard Sherman #25 for putting these podcasts together. I really enjoy the stories. I hope one day you can reassemble the LOB and just talk about the mentals that was required for you all to have created the best NFL defense. I especially want to hear from Earl and Kam!
Hi Richard! I'm Susan/ Lady Hawk/12th Woman/ Seahawks fan for life! I've watched you grow up on my TV! I've been one of your greatest fans EVER. This is my FAVORITE interview EVER. My love for Pete Carol goes beyond measure. Thank you for bringing the GREATEST FOOTBALL COACH IN NFL HISTORY! Pete is the most positive, kind, loving human being. To be a player, having this coach.. this ..Legend coach you, teach you, mentor you, must have been amazing. He's "raised" so many incredible players I've lost count. I love you. I love this show off yours and I love..LOVE THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS💚💙💚💙💚💙 WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL! Love You Richard! You were the Best Cornerback ever. Bigger than that, you've evolved into the man I see here today and I'm very proud of you. Thanks for everything you do.
This interview made me emotional. 🥲 Just seeing the connection between Pete and Rich is something special. I can tell Rich has looked up to Pete as a Father figure and even through the hurt he loves and respects him. Really special to see. 😭
Sherm has already put together some of the best Seahawks interviews out there. This one is fantastic. KJ's show is great too. These guys still hang out at practices. Pete has built a great culture in a tough business. Hope this year can be something special.
Warmed my heart to see this. Glad you back in the fold Sherm. Great interview. I was glad to be part of the journey, if only as a fan. What we got to see in the stadium was special. The rallies outside the tunnel, the dancing on the field, the swag. You don’t get to see that on tv. Can’t wait to see you in the Ring of Honor! Bring us a back to back Pete!
Beautiful connection between two brilliant and unique men. When you’ve been a Browns fan like myself for the last 40 years, you naturally find other coaches and players throughout the league to root for every year as your team slips into obscurity. Pete and Richard are two of those guys for me. I was gutted for them, their teammates/coaches and their fans when they lost the Super Bowl. Mainly because I knew it would fracture the very real, very strong relationships between player and coach. To see the healing and love between them makes the world feel a bit more whole today. Thanks for sharing, this warmed my heart thoroughly.
Epic. Being where they've each been, what they've experienced together and where they are today says loads about Pete & Sherm. Two of my favorites. Thank you Sherm and Pete for this interview. I've been a Hawks fan since the 80's and there's been nothing like the Pete Carroll years. I think much of Seattle's hearts were broken after that 2nd Superbowl. I remember the day after. The entire city and surrounding regions were emotionally hungover. The city was quiet. I love seeing Hawks legends staying in Seattle, hanging at the VMAC and bringing up the young pups. A true family.
WOW!! What an EPIC, For-The-Ages interview, between two future Hall-of-Famers! Love 'em both! Who better to bring out the story in the most authentic, heart-felt way than Richard Sherman, one legend bringing out the best in another! You can just feel the respect and brotherly love and reverence these two guys have for each other.
Man what an interview, as someone who grew up watching LOB, hearing the philosophy, mindset and small details that went into the work, Pete Carroll really is 1 of 1 and I’m so excited to see the new era of Seahawks football and how much the old era will help them grow into position
Legendary interview. This invoked an emotional roller coaster in me as a long time Seahawk fan. Love Pete's outlook on winning and leadership. He has owned his leadership style and knows how to elevate everyone around him. Truly a great leader and mentor. His philosophy can be applied to so much more than just football. Thank you Sherm and Pete, what a gift of a conversation! Go Hawks!
Best interview I’ve watched in a minute. Glad to see these two talk about the past and even though there is still hurt there it seems like time is healing the wounds. Hope Earl and coach can one day make up. Feels like a father and son relationship that is broken.
Wow. This is the greatest double interview and you can see the greatness that was that era of the Seahawks. And why Pete Carroll is such a visionary. Really, really insightful and wonderful stretch of time
Wow….best interview ever. I was absolutely glued from beginning to finish. Sherm found his second calling as an interviewer/broadcaster/analyst. The NFL needs this guy in one capacity or another. Pete is so calm and confident other coaches should be trembling. What an outstanding interview covering a plethora of topics.
Loved every second of this. Really hope Pete goes on to do more interviews like this, because it’s apparent just how much he has to share, and how profound his perspective has become over the years.
Coolest message in this is to be real even during hard times and tough decisions, and you not only might have a chance to come full circle again, but that is what might make the relationship stronger when it finally comes full circle again. Cool stuff.
Ive always loved Pete Carroll, I remember rooting for the Seahawks when they made it to the Super Bowl and won. Im a chiefs fan too, they aren't even my team. So happy for his success and I feel like I understand why I always felt like he was a good dude even yho Ive never met him. Its in his positivity and vibes I think. Positivity creates positivity and good vibes create. good times.
Kudos Richard. This interview had a different feel than others of yours. There is a great deal professionalism you carried in this interview. It seemed more journalistic than past shows. Good job!
Sherm, Sherm, Sherm this for me was your BEST interview with our Great Coach Pete Carroll. He never gets the recognition that he deserves when the NFL talks about great coaches. Now that “Brady” is gone, who talks about Belicheck? But, thank you for letting us get to know our beloved coach and his philosophy a little better. The 12s are happy that you are continuing to do well, Sherm!
Love this interview. Great balance between being candid but still focused and hit all the big points. Fantastic stuff. Seeing Pete and Sherm still with a good relationship makes me feel so happy. Go Hawks!
Damn this public Sherm and Pete conversation was needed for the culture of Seahawks and the NFL. Hopefully some larger networks will pick this up and show some clips of this real talk.💯 This is the most direct showing and acknowledgement of what sports pundits mean about "buying in" to a coach
I love this, Sherm finally got to clear the air publicly with his favorite Coach. Lots of feelings and memories but got that all off his shoulders just in time for him to make that next step in his career on Undisputed.
This is a fascinating, uplifting, interesting, touching, informative, and deeply human discussion (I'm not even going to call it an interview) about past (mostly Pete's) experiences directly from Carroll and Sherman.
something about the philosophy is so contagious different players have their own version of it in their heads. now that is individuality. great interview Richard
I love coach Pete: the way he interacts with his team, the way he treats them like family. Even after all they've been through, they (either Pete & Sherm, or any other of the LOB) they can come back together..,..love this interview Go Hawks (former & current) 💚💙🏈💙💚
Great show with a lot of insights about that time in Seahawks history. It’s awesome to see you both interact as well. Such love and appreciation for each other. Thanks Rich!!!
42:40 Pete glad Sherman "back on track" (after banging somebody door) and back to his office ! That statement is huge. I glad Sherman find his identity after retirement and bring back this podcast to 12s. Thanks Sherman !
I'm not typically the kind of person to leave comments on videos. But this interview is one of the best is 11 out of 10. I really started watching the NFL in 2013. First game I payed attention to was Sunday Night game 49ers VS Seahawks......I fell in love with the LOB and the Seahawks that night. Going from a person that didn't watch NFL to after that game, listening to Daily Seahawks stuff, watching every game, and if I couldn't watch it I was listening on the radio. Being from Texas where Cowboys football is king....I love my Seahawks and I am a forever fan because of these guys in the video and that Team.
This is by far one of the greatest podcast segments I've ever seen! Well done Richard and hats off to Pete Carrol for his legacy he's left on and off the field
it sure was special, they were all characters with special skills that were bound together with invisible magic string. I loved watching them dominate.
Man that was a good interview. I totally agree on the fact that, that group was so bought in and in sync. They always knew there was a chance, and that they were the better team. So when that pick happened and there was no chance it was just bound to explode. I mean I can't watch that pick in reruns without getting heartbroken. Imagine those guys that was right in the eye of the storm... Don't be sad it's over, be glad it happened 😊
I am so happy to hear about what actually happened on that play that night I understand the philosophy of what he wanted to do we had about 20 seconds on the clock during that 2nd & goal plus 2 more plays if we had got the touchdown on any of those plays the Patriots would've literally had no time to try and tie/win the game we would be back 2 back champs and we would've gone on to face the Broncos again in super bowl 50 and I believe we would've had a 3 peat and the best dynasty that ever lived
Sherm, I don’t know if you’ll ever read this.. but doing this interview and both of you guys showing your appreciation for each other knowing life is short can’t be understated
This interview really shocked me it was so much better than I thought it was going to be. I could see the love, bro it makes me want to go play for me Pete and I'm a pats fan

I came here to acknowledge a great interview but it wasn't an interview at the end of the day. This was a beautiful conversation among two friends who did great things together and we all were just blessed to be in the room. Thank you.
This should be seen by every Seahawks fan everywhere. So cathartic to watch Sherm and Pete talk about the love of THAT team for each other.
Ok. Seahawk fan since 76. This interview brought tears to my eyes.
Wasn’t much of a rivalry Seahawks won every game but one ,cardinals and Seahawks were true division rivals
"Hurt comes out as anger". Something everyone will hopefully learn to benefit all of their relationships in life. Thanks Richard and Coach.
I have never seen my coach and a living legend so candid. Best interview ever
Who remembers Kam Chancellor blowing up Vernon Davis at the 3 yard line with an absolute fast and vicious hit?!!! Kam Chancellor was an old school hitter, and the boom in the LOB! Love ❤️ ya Kam!
The one on Gronk was even better more Thomas then kam but still
As a 49er fan im not gonna lie Kam Chancellor gave Vernon Davis and Kaepernick ptsd heck the whole legion of boom did
Best football 1on1 interview I have ever seen. Just loose, fun, and informative.
Diehard 49ERS fan here!!! This interview is dope. Much respect for Pete Carroll. Yall got a squad now. BRING IT ON!!!
Idk man niners look like the team to beat this year 😳🫣
Shed a tear at the end. Thanks to you both for this conversation. Awesome to witness!
This interview made me emotional. 🥲 Just seeing the connection between Pete and Rich is something special. I can tell Rich has looked up to Pete as a Father figure and even through the hurt he loves and respects him. Really special to see. 😭
Which is why Sherm needs to get hired onto Seattle’s coaching staff !
@@funkyflights lebron James man
When Sherm asked "why me?" and Pete explained all of these reasons, and then said he was proud of him... ohh goodness. Tears.
This interview embodies the Seattle Seahawks. Hope Pete’s philosophy last forever in Seattle.
Sherm has already put together some of the best Seahawks interviews out there. This one is fantastic. KJ's show is great too. These guys still hang out at practices. Pete has built a great culture in a tough business. Hope this year can be something special.
KJ is just making money bashing Russ now, getting on that Russ bandwagon after being cool and supportive.
🥲as a 2010 staring watching football....this one hits deeply
Great interview. 2 of my fave people. Glad to see some healing. For all of us.
Good to see you guys openly chatting it up!!!!
2 great men with an amazing look and understanding of their own profession
Absolutely outstanding Sherm. Thank you do much for bringing in Coach Pete. An amazing interview and walk down memory lane
Super cool that Pete is will to talk free like this with ya, shows a lot of respect and both yall good people 😊
Warmed my heart to see this.
My two favorite Seahawks of all time.
I love that this conversation happened.
These two men clearly respect one another.
Good to see you them on this side of their relationship
One of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. Open, candid and fun. Great to see this type of reunion as well and bury the hatchet over the past
This and KJs interview with Big Red are top tier, 10/10 interviews that mean a lot to us at home who have cheered for you guys.
Go Hawks!
Awesome podcast.
Almost at the end, wish it was longer!
Really, really insightful and wonderful stretch of time
Not expecting it but this is by far one of the best interviews I have ever seen
Love seeing the family get back together
Wow….best interview ever. I was absolutely glued from beginning to finish. Sherm found his second calling as an interviewer/broadcaster/analyst. The NFL needs this guy in one capacity or another. Pete is so calm and confident other coaches should be trembling. What an outstanding interview covering a plethora of topics.
Loved every second of this. Really hope Pete goes on to do more interviews like this, because it’s apparent just how much he has to share, and how profound his perspective has become over the years.
sherman interviewing pete is big stuff..shows alot of maturity ..feels good to c that
Coolest message in this is to be real even during hard times and tough decisions, and you not only might have a chance to come full circle again, but that is what might make the relationship stronger when it finally comes full circle again.
Big Hawk Fan here- Great interview on so many levels. Thanks men. Glad to have been along for the whole ride. Ready for the next chapter…
Go Hawks!
BEST podcast E er !
What a Gem, Richard and Pete TOGETHER.
wow !
Love this interview. Great balance between being candid but still focused and hit all the big points. Fantastic stuff. Seeing Pete and Sherm still with a good relationship makes me feel so happy. Go Hawks!
Best one on one interview I have ever seen in fifty years. It's the truth of how a hierarchy can change many lives. Two special humans.
That was an EPIC interview! Well done Richard & Pete! GO HAWKS!!
Damn this public Sherm and Pete conversation was needed for the culture of Seahawks and the NFL. Hopefully some larger networks will pick this up and show some clips of this real talk.💯
This is the most direct showing and acknowledgement of what sports pundits mean about "buying in" to a coach
I love this, Sherm finally got to clear the air publicly with his favorite Coach. Lots of feelings and memories but got that all off his shoulders just in time for him to make that next step in his career on Undisputed.
yeah I bet Sherm regrets alot of his actions over the years.
This is a fascinating, uplifting, interesting, touching, informative, and deeply human discussion (I'm not even going to call it an interview) about past (mostly Pete's) experiences directly from Carroll and Sherman.
I will always love coach and sherm. Both are absolute legendary Seahawks that I will always respect.
something about the philosophy is so contagious different players have their own version of it in their heads. now that is individuality. great interview Richard
I love coach Pete: the way he interacts with his team, the way he treats them like family. Even after all they've been through, they (either Pete & Sherm, or any other of the LOB) they can come back together..,..love this interview Go Hawks (former & current) 💚💙🏈💙💚
There are no words for what feel watching this interview. It's just something truly special
Great show with a lot of insights about that time in Seahawks history. It’s awesome to see you both interact as well. Such love and appreciation for each other. Thanks Rich!!!
Having watched this twice now this is one of the best and most authentic interviews I’ve ever seen in sports.
Pete we remember u in LA it's still the same love
Love this team this year Hawks will be insane!!!
What a interview of Coach Pete. Got a lot of insight to the man, coach and his philosophies. Good job Sherman 👏🏼
Great interview Richard !
I love Pete Carroll and his philosophy to life.
We needed these two together again. Wish we could go back in time to the 2013-2014 Seahawks. One of the greatest teams of all time.
it sure was special, they were all characters with special skills that were bound together with invisible magic string.
That was great. Exceeded my expectations.
Agree with all that except the best dynasty ever. Sorry but Tom has 7 rings. Y’all weren’t getting any where near that number
Sherm, I don’t know if you’ll ever read this.. but doing this interview and both of you guys showing your appreciation for each other knowing life is short can’t be understated
21:46 awesome part. Sherm about to shed a tear
This interview really shocked me it was so much better than I thought it was going to be. I could see the love, bro it makes me want to go play for me Pete and I'm a pats fan
