And sure, Soul of Cinder is the culmination of all before linking the fire..including Gwyn. But at 4:34 ..its like witnessing the death of his son is what caused Gwyn's soul to emerge to face Gael, and avenge him. As if even he, NK's father, couldn't truly have only hate for his son.

Imagine a nobody like Gael, even having the title of Slaveknight, who was able to venture on his own to world's end, and consume the Dark Soul. He was still strong enough to not only handle two bosses, one being Gwyn's son and the other the embodiment of every Champion of the Fire, but Gwyn himself ... but nearly killed both of them, even with Soul of Cinder's 2nd phase. He managed to take out Nameless King and was only at 15% HP, still able to nearly kill 2nd phase Soul of Cinder ...
REALLY puts it in perspective how powerful Gael is, especially in phase 3. Absolute boss, best one in the series.
Gael got the dark soul. And a questionably high hp pool for a slave knight.

Imagine narratively for a moment.
The Nameless king recognizing a scrap of his father Gwyn remaining within him but knowing its presence too weak to call him father consolidates his feelings, standing aside the Soul of cinder to face the man at the end of time who brings ruin to the old world, scraps of a man who began the world we know and his son face the man who will end this world and begin the new world.
