    I think you have to pack that asphalt from my experience as a finish roller you’re still gonna end up with a crack because the hot asphalt is just going to sink down deeper and deeper and compact itself and only works if you build up a little bit of a ridge mound and then pound it down in there flat by compactor or roller. This crack will be sunk in by at least an inch within a few months.

    That stuff is blistering hot. Its softening point is 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Asphalt itself will cling to flesh like lava as it burns. A paving crew was working on a road in my state when a little girl decided she wanted to be the first in the neighborhood to walk on it. She ran, barefoot, right onto the asphalt. One of the guys in the crew saw her coming and ran through the asphalt he just smoothed out to stop her. She sank into freshly laid asphalt and sank into it before the guy lifted her out and into the yard. By the time he rushed her to the kiddy pool, her feet were covered in blisters, tar, and pieces of aggregate (little rocks). They cooled it off in the water and used the soap the crew carries to break the tar down. I've seen people drive through the stuff and their tires melt and explode. I can only imagine how badly that little girl's feet were burned.
    I helped smooth out a bit of asphalt for the end of my neighbor's yard one day. It was leftovers from a highway crew that was "Too cold for use." I could feel the year pouring off of it...and it was too cold? My dad warned me to be careful because I'd be walking away with burns if I fell into it.

      What you saw is a crack seal kettle. It is similar, but those products do not have aggregate in them so they can be pumped through hoses. It is easier to apply but is not suitable for cracks over 1" wide. This type of material has aggregate and is designed to fix wide cracks but cannot be put through a pump and must be applied differently. Thanks for commenting!

    • @MaxwellProductsInc

      Equipment cost is always a consideration, but the existence of such a wide crack suggest movement beyond the ability of asphalt to accommodate. Replacing asphalt with the same or similar material is likely to result in similar failure. GAP Mastic’s highly flexible binder is designed to handle this type of movement, while its high-strength, engineered aggregate accommodates traffic load and restores the ride. If you'd like to learn more about GAP Mastic or the GAP line of products, go to maxwellproducts.com/products/gap_mastic. Thanks for taking the time to view our videos and share your thoughts.

      i know here asphalt won't last long in a gap like that, and its too wide for cracksealing

    • @dalegreer3095
      @dalegreer3095 6 лет назад +3

      It's kind of like the asphalt should have had a gap filled with GAP mastic in the first place, like the way they put gaps in concrete roads for expansion and contraction.

      because he wants to advertise his shit product. stop fucking around son, that shits gonna last for 3-5 months at the most. if it was concrete, the gp would be properly filled the first time and last several years. its the reason you asshats claim such superiority of a clearly inferior product. it gets you more work.
