ChipFill™ - Pothole Road Repair
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 сен 2024
- ChipFill™ is a specially designed thermoplastic for repairing cracks and smaller holes with diameter around 15-20 cm, and minimizing the risk of defects getting bigger.
The hot applied thermoplastic gives better bonding to the underground compared to cold applied repair systems. When heated, the binders in the thermoplastic bond to the bitumen in the asphalt.

Daily Dose Of Internet your welcome

Hello daily I'm a big fan
Let's give out hero some fame !
Only for u
I’ll have done a whole city block by the time you’ve set up your cones. That process looks extremely expensive relative to traditional hot mix patching.
What's the softening point of this material after it be paved?
Could it keep firm under about 38°C weather?

I can personally attest that this stuff works WAY better than asphalt in a busy Home Depot parking lot. We paid about $1000 last year to get 20 or so holes patches last year. Within a month most were already a problem again. We had a single guy come in with this stuff (well, some kind of thermoplastic fill) and patch several holes right before winter started in September of last year. Those patched holes are still in perfect shape and are in high traffic areas.
that's a great information, do you remember which are the price difference between repair with asphalt and repair with thermoplastic?
Can u give photo?
The stuff in Home Depot is cold patch... completely different than real asphalt. Cold patch has just enough asphalt in it to hold together for a week before rain washes it out, leaving rock in a hole.
@@ucap6486 he didn't say they used home depot stuff, he said at home depot parkinglot
@@Firelife3I thought he meant cold patch on a pallet outside the store, like the lawnmowers, etc. and he was talking about his own driveway... It's amazing what 3 hours of sleep will make you see, lol. I paved for 9 years... sounds like either crappy mix (asphalt), bad workmanship (prep, cutting, compaction), or both. Then again, you get potholes in parking areas due to bad drainage, so if they put down new mix and it rains heavily, the water goes through the mix and undermines it again. As far as thermo plastic, it's just one big chunk of plastic. It's like filling a hole with sand mixed in super glue versus hot glue. The first way can hold up, if applied correctly, but it can wear down over time due to individual pieces. The hot glue is one big mass... nothing is hurting the inside of it.
After 4 years, more views goes to this video cause the Daily Dose of Internet guy and his video
True
I cant believe you can fill potholes with mealworms!
@FL Animations Ik that i was joking lol
Safe for workers to breath in that smoke?
WHY are they repairing a SMALL hole about 4mm deep, when about 50 meters away is a hole about 35mm deep that they will not fill?.
In South Cambridgeshire, the council refuses to repair ANY hole that fails to meet ITS criteria of being over 50mm deep, so we have the worst roads in England, & some of the most defective vehicles as a result of the Chief Executive's edict's to his indifferent workforce.
In the very un-lightly event that a hole is repaired, it is sooooooooooooooooo badly repaired that it will need another repair in a few weeks time at further cost to the ratepayers. Disgraceful SCAM.
Hello Steve.. I am sorry to hear about your experience with potholes and bad roads in general. ChipFill is specifically designed for the repair of smaller potholes, so perhaps that is the reason why this particular pothole was chosen for repair, although I can't say for sure. We have other solutions for larger potholes, which are both durable and easy to apply - just like ChipFill. You can read more about it on the link below - and don't hesitate to get in touch with us, if you have any further questions or queries. Best regards, Julie // Geveko Markings www.geveko-markings.com/products/road-surface-repair-products/
Don't bother! Spent three days trying to get this product to try. Basically the company does not sell to just anyone???? And they won't give information on how to get it or who would do it for you. So I figure they will go out of business because they don't want it to be used?
Not hard to find a Chinese supplier
Not true contact Sharpline-solutions.com They will get this to you . It's preferred to buy a pallet of this for reasons of cost effectiveness and shipping.
What about repaving? Does the plastic interfere with the machinery in any way?
In Brazil this is not even considered a pothole.
Same in Russia
come visit nepal
In serbia too
That's not a pot hole 🇬🇧
Not even in shitty California
The way department of transit out here does it is get a convoy together. And have men walk the road way.
First group uses vaccumes to clear out debris from the hole, then a follow up team uses compressed air to clear what's left.
Then a torch team heats the hole, and is followed by a team filling the hole, then the back is a final torch and smooth team.
They are capable of doing a around 50 miles in a day, 80ish kilometers.
walking 50 miles in one day sounds like a huge pain, I could only do 10.
0:27 your shoe lace bruh
Loses
Useless.
1) Can't be removed.
2) There is NO GRAPHICS OF TEMPERATURE.
3) Nothing said about water or oil resistance. No bond with wheels = deaths.
Difference between surfaces for both wheels= death.
Hi Yanis. You're right, it's not intended to be removed. It is a temporary solution that keeps the cost of repairs down by preventing water from going into the underground and making the holes, cracks and damages bigger.
Regarding your concern about lack of skid resistance, please note that at the end of the video (approx. 2.20), the ChipFill® surface is post-sprinkled with aggregates which ensures initial skid resistance so to not make the surface slippery.
@@Geveko-markings thank you for answer! Well, i ll check it
What the hell is this sorcery?
I think its a bad idea to put them on busy roads….their slick and people will slide and crash. I see it working in parking lots.
The problem with this is it would make recycling road materials which they do much harder because they need to sort out the plastics first
Hello my name is ade arip, I’m from the trans7 tranding program in Indonesia. I want to ask permmision to use videos on yout youtube channel. Thankyou
Where in the USA can you purchase this.
I feel like this is bad for the environment tho. Something isnt right with this and I cant figure out what
Hi Jango. No need to worry - ChipFill® is safe to use and is not classified as environmentally harmful. It is an alkyd based thermoplastic material similar to thermoplastic material used for road markings. Furthermore, we can add that ChipFill® is manufactured in a production unit certified according to environmental standard ISO 14001:2015. The product itself is phthalate and VOC free, and all coloured pigments are free from heavy metals. If you want to know more about ChipFill®, you are always welcome to contact us: www.geveko-markings.com/contact/.
For Indian roads, that's just a microscopic speck, not a pothole
Hi Naveen. Thanks for your comment - you are right, there can be a huge difference in the size of potholes. This particular solution with ChipFill, however, is recommended for repairing the smaller kind with a diameter around 15--20 cm.
@@Geveko-markings I didn't expect you to reply, but thanks, that answered a lot of my questions
This can save a government a millions dollars roads repays bills.
And then to find another millions to do the same work over same holes repairs again.
Two questions, will car get slip if while breaking their tyres come to these? Will these able to sustain summer heat?
I always thought patching holes with plastic will work better then normal way, since patch never get fixed next two three rains it comes out. While I know plastic binds much better and faster then normal method.
that 2nd is a good question
Price of the chip fill ???
That's nice stuff
how long is this going to last??
it would likely last as long as the surroundig road lasts
Only downside is i bet it gets super slippery when it gets wet and is a risk to motorcycles
0:40
How long does it last ?
How can purchase this material in india...
I already sent several emails... no one is replying !!
I ask permission to react to this video, thank you
what if the sub grade is sub standard
Well thank god for this ❤️❤️❤️
fascinating innovation. Its a shame it can only fill holes up to diameter of 20 cm. Because where I live, holes that small don't get fixed for a very very long time, Until they get the budget to repave the entire road with asphalt. And i live in an area with a very high amount of road traffic, so even shutting the road down for a two hours to pave it, causes a major traffic pileup.
need to cake herefordshire in this shit
There's nothing in my country like this 😞
Be happy about that. Stuff like this is what kills the environment.
Look how easy these are too sort yet Birmingham Council don't bother lol :D
We need somewhere about 5,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons of this plastic in india

How much plastic is required to fill a pothole of 0.5m²?

Is this safe for motorcyclists?
guess nobody cares given they haven't responded. but with the high cost of petrol, motorcycle ownership has really gone up in the past year. It is too cold to ride year round though, they get about 7 months (or 9 months for the hard core riders).
From where can we buy these type of plastics??
their is a link in the video description
I've been filling pot holes in our parking lot with shredded plastic bottles and caps a little bit of gravel and a torch ever since I saw them do it in Mexico but you got to clean the whole or the crack with a blower or a brush and burn it real good before you add the chips and gravel don't burn the plastic melt it
If it’s that easy why don’t cities do it more?
Can you guys tell about this material? I really need this one for my country, Indonesia
