I enjoy how quickly wild battles can be in this game. Combine this with the ability to walk away during a battle (especially when the player knows that they will win or lose) and EXP gain/level ups not slowing the player down, and everything just feels more seamless!
I am very curious to see how this will be added to a more tradition pokemon game. I really don't want these seemless transitions to go back to the old clunky way. It also saves time for gamefreak having to make battle maps.
The drums on the alpha version especially during the beginning make the theme more threatening. It conveys you aren’t fighting your average Pokémon. These things are unhinged and can kill.
Exhibit A: The Level 45 Snorlax guarding the first level. I of course knew I couldn't just beat it straight away, so I got level 35 or so pokemon with type advantage. My aces were Infernape and a pretty overleveled Highsplosion. My anticipated strategy was to have infernape weaken or outright kill the snorlax or at the very least soften him up for the rest of my party. PFFFFT. Snorlax's healthbar barely moves an inch, then he proceeded to instakill Infernape and Cloud9splosion with water pulse of all moves, then massacred the rest of my team with turn 1 giga impacts.
It's extremely satisfying to return to low level areas with your full team and kick the lv 45 Snorlax or the lv 60 Alakazam that kicked your ass at the beginning
I managed to kill the Parasect way too early with Quilava and it helped me to overlevel him and then immediately turn the tables and start catching the Alphas before even going and fighting Kleavor.
