Since struggle only seemed to not work in the Diamond / Pearl clan battles, my guess would be that because those fights can have multiple Pokémon on the field at once and struggle picks a random target during those battles, something is programed incorrectly that causes struggle to have a chance to target non-existent Pokémon.
This challenge is the only challenge where Lians "if you don't stand down you shall face the wrath of my goomy" makes sense. It actually is a threat.
Such a shame Mr. Masochist forgot Magikarp was, in fact, a fish, and needed water to survive. He could have kept his friend after the run :( The beast that Magikarp is, he hung on throughout the whole run while suffocating slowly. F in respect

Idk why Keegan puts himself through the pain and torture of getting through the most difficult Pokémon game with the weakest Pokémon. I can only imagine the blood pressure boiling whenever you have to take on the same boss or trainer over and over again

One that couldn't get tackle or flail because this games weird. Imagine a legitimate team of good pokemon, items can make these games laughably easy if you even half know how to use them.

Even ignoring that, I can't help but wonder what they were smoking over at Gamefreak when they decided Magikarp, of all pokémon, needed a nerf

@@zerotodona1495 in various other games, Magikarp could learn a few other moves, like tackle, flail, bounce and even hydro pump. If removing all of that from its movepool and leaving it with only splash is not a nerf, then I have no idea what that word means. All this assuming you don't look at it chronologically of course

by the waydotn pokemons have items and abilities - some about contact damage, also i can remember 'battle armor' that negates all critical hits, i was sure this run would be easier

Little did he knew, he could try to catch the Kricketune at the start of the game instead of ko-ing it.
It is by no mean easy to do without the blessing of RNGsus, but possible and requiring less items to stay alive.
F. It was bad enough dragging magikarp to lvl 95 to maybe possibly survive the path of solitude. After that experience I would not have expected you to make it, but you did. Congratz.
Prediction: Keegan released the Cyndaquil and now it is going to seek revenge by eating Magikarp.

I have 3 theories as to why struggle misses sometimes.
1. Munchlax was not caught in a ball and was so far away from magikarp that magikarp could either not load the move or the animations for it, leaving the move doing nothing to munchlax yet due to the coding of struggle, magikarp took recoil damage. Also in the battle with 3 pokemon, the struggle lagged behind, so basically its like this: ((animation)) ((deal damage)) (take damage) (end process), ((,)) are lagging behind and (,) are normal. the animation + the deal damage lagged behind so much that the process ended before they were done.
2. It is said that struggle is supposed to have 100% accuracy, however there is 2 scenarios that this saying is false:
1) Magikarp got hit by some attack that lowered this accuracy.
2) It is some mechanic that the developers added exclusive to pokemon legends of arceus.
3. It is some sort of glitch that the coding does not work for some strange reason that is unkown to many.
I don't know if you'll win, but my god, you're going to go as far as you can.
Poor Magikarp. I hope he enjoyed those potions because he drank like 100 of them and got destroyed like 50 times

I tried doing some stuff using struggle in Arceus (I wanted a level 100 Magikarp), but iirc it kept getting it's pp restored between battles and turned into way too much of a pita.
Couldn't you have just caught the Kriketune instead? Feels much easier than PP Stalling.

You can catch it. I did. It’s nobles and some side quest pokemon you can’t catch.

I did catch it! My very first playthrough, I threw a ball at the Alpha Kricketune, and it went into the Pokeball. You can also catch the Goodra, the Overqwil and the Zoroark at the three lakes. They’re all catchable, only thing is they don’t have a perfect 31 IV in 3 stats (or an effort level of 3 in Legends Arceus) like regular Alphas do.
