So, were you wanted to go you end up somewhere else that’s even better. Most of my art work is like that that’s why I love alcohol inks.

    Wow I've never even heard of white varnish! Don't think it's ruined at all, just pastel. FYI Kilz was meant to use on wood (specifically pine) to seal knot holes so they won't bleed thru any painting (personally I find straight spar varnish more effective). Just my 2 cents worth. TFS

    It's fascinating watching you move the ink around and magically create the flowers! Did you ruin the piece...no...BUT did take it down a notch. I wonder if everclear (consumable grain alcohol, also known as moonshine) would work...I bought a bottle to make hand sanitizer, but haven't needed it. I got the everclear because you should not ingest rubbing alcohol, or pour something toxic on any body organs thus you should not coat your hands in it...all that to say if the everclear works, less toxic. Just a thought...I'll let you know if I get a chance to try it! The box is pretty! One other thought about the sticky pools, add foil! That would be pretty too! Thank you for sharing Sandy!

    There is a smoke shop ( no, not THAT kind) that sells cigars, loose tobacco, cigarettes, etc. in my area and I get the most beautiful cigar boxes there for so cheap it feels like stealing. I have 2 lacquered boxes, sooooo pretty, that I paid $6 for. Yes! Six dollars! I also have 5 or 6 regular boxes in all shapes and sizes and all made out of wood of one kind or another and I paid $3 each for them. I go in once a week to see whats new because I don’t want to miss out on a steal. Anyone looking for cigar boxes, I’d be happy to purchase and mail them to you. Email me through whatever address RUclips has on hand.

    Isn't a lot of crafting about "happy accidents"? Here's another proof of that. This past Christmas my sisters and I played with alcohol inks (they were both experienced and I was the newbie). They are fun and addicting but not EASY to get the inks to do exactly what you envision. In the end, letting them have their way was part of the fun. Lovely box in any color.

    When you finished the box I thought it was beautiful and maybe you should put gold leaf on it, then you sprayed it and I thought you ruined it, but you really didn't, it would have been worse if you put gold leaf on it, and then it turned out to be pastel and really beautiful and worthy of display in your craft room.

    Amazing. I love how you move the ink into images. The flowers are so soft and white varnish that you added makes it stunning. It looks aged and natural. I would love to use alcohol but at this time finding it, is like winning the lottery. Next trip to the hardware store I am going to pick up the killz2 sealant. Beautiful box! Sandy, in your video for testing different methods of blowing the air around, you didn't test a 2 temperature heat gun. The lower setting is warm rather than hot. Is there a reason you didn't test it? Would love to hear your thoughts or experience with it. thank you!

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  4 года назад

      Because I already spent about 100 bucks on all the equipment and couldn’t afford to buy absolutely everything? Also even a low temperature gun would be way too warm for me, even the barely warm hairdryer made my workspace miserably hot.
