I Love this!!! As a kind of novice these look so easy but professional looking. I suffer from a traumatic brain injury and so I had to find something I could do. So I am now sewing blankets for children in the cancer hospital near me as well as for foster children, also for animals in no kill shelters, and for elderly people in nursing homes. It’s a way for me to do something good for our community and the recipients love them. I don’t charge for them but I am setting up a 501c3 as well as a way to collect donations in the future. Your blankets, bibs, and hats are precious. Thank you for sharing your passion. ❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕👶👶🐶🐶👵👴
I made lots of those too. Great gifts for baby showers. Also, I was ahead of the curve. When I made them, they weren't even available widely commercially.
I have made several different bibs, burp cloths, blankets, nursing apron and some scrap stuff. I like giving gifts that I made. I use left over scraps cut in square and serge two together for wash cloths.
Thankyou I have been wanting to make some more bandana bibs for my 6 month old. They aren’t really made for eating but they work great for spit up and drool bibs. I have some with fleece on the back which is a great choice for the back fabric because it is absorbent and soft
I really like making fleece sleep sacks. I do a front zipper but also make a tab closure with a cam snap. Those snaps are so handy! My daughter used sleep sacks for the longest time. I kept adding on length when my grandson outgrew them.🤗
My nephew and wife are expecting in June. I've been sewing on two baby quilts. One in cotton the other in flannel. I'll make a few receiving blankets to go along with them. Mabe a few burp cloths. Thanks for the tutorial. Oh yea! It's a girl! Great aunt is very excited.
I have made many baby quilts 34 inch by 40 inch. I make them so you can have two quilts in one by sewing around the edge. I quilt on my machine, either by sewing around the animal or birds or by making meandering squares. It is easy and really loved by Moms. I take a picture of each one before wrapping them up.
Love this video! I'll be making booties and hats, to be sure. I've been making double-sided flannel baby blankets - with a hood in one corner - for decades! I use 1 1/2 yard of flannel. Square all sides, then put right sides together, match all sides. Then, turn up a corner on both fabrics about 16" - 18". Mark the angle with fabric marker, or just iron a crease. Cut a large 90 degree triangle (16" - 18"on the short side) out of each flannel fabric. Sew triangle right sides together leaving an opening to turn. Clip corners. Iron, then top stitch triangle. Place triangle in a corner of the larger pieces of flannel. Pin in place. Stitch around entire blanket, leaving room to turn. Back stitch at points of triangle to reinforce. Clip corners to reduce bulk. Turn, iron, top stitch. Top stitch another row 1/2" from first row. Helps to keep edges from rolling. Use the leftover flannel from cutting the triangle pieces for burp cloths, bandannas, bibs, etc. Makes a blanket large enough to wrap a toddler, and the hood makes a nice way to keep baby's head warm.
I honestly do not know what people’s obsession with making baby booties are. Yes they are cute but speaking as a mom of five they are pretty much useless. They do not stay on the feet socks work better. Knit hats are good though especially for newborns
I have been making lots of burp cloths. I have tried many shapes, but I find the rectangle best. I love your tips, especially the glue idea. Thanks a bunch!
Hello. Love your projects. Just subscribed. Interested in a full size bib I can slip baby’s arms through and secure in back so bib can’t be pulled off. I’m an excited new grandma of two babies and just getting into sewing. Thank you!
I make baby blankets, quilts and burp cloths. We have a great granddaughter due in July. Booties and hats will go with the gifts. Thank you for the patterns and demon. 👏👏
I actually want to make some for dolls I have and this is a great start for a beginner like me! Im still learning all I can so it should be fun to make. All I would like is just which fabrics would be great for onsies and bibs
Oh my goodness!!! The baby items you made are so stinking cute!!!! I love them!!! Beautiful fabric and your friend is going to LOVE these gifts!!! Thank you for sharing!!!! Great tutorial!
Loved this video. Haven’t sewed in twenty years and watching this made me want to sew! I made the blanket for my niece who’s having a baby. It came out so adorable. I do have a concern though. Since there is a batting between the material, should it be tacked down or sewn down periodically to avoid breakdown of the batting after washing? Thanks so much for your thorough instructions.
You certainly can add some quilting or any other touches you'd like. I've made this blanket quite a few times and haven't personally had issues with the batting, but it's up to you.
Thank you so much for such a clear tutorial, and your calming voice. You make it look so easy! Love them all! I'm going to try to make some for my niece
I’m fairly new to sewing, using videos like these to learn! I had watched a few burp cloth tutorials before I found yours. I made the hour glass shaped ones. It’s interesting how many ways they can be made (flannel, cotton, 2 pieces of fabric, or 3, batting, interfacing, terry cloth, quilted or not quilted! I’m sure there are more, I will keep practicing and find the one I like best. Oh, about the glue. I heard Elmers Glue was good for sewing so I bought some of the glue sticks, did I get the wrong thing or can you use any Elmer’s glue?? Thanks for the video, fun projects!
Love love these items i am at this time making gifts for a baby due in Sept. These all of these will be included in the gift basket. Our youngest and only son is having the last girl out of 4 children we have we have 8 boys and 4 girls plus 1 she gonna be spoiled rotten 😁😘😘😍😍
Thank you for such great videos and instructions. Question: I have a Brother SE600 and make weighted blankets so I use a walking foot regularly. I was told that I should not back stitch with the walking foot but I see you are doing it with no problems. My machine has an option that it does 3 fixed stitches rather than doing a backstitch. I just wonder if that is as effective as a backstitch.
I just made a comment about this! I’d prefer to use a back stitch as I find the locking stitch tends to be a little untidy on the back but always thought you couldn’t 🤷🏻♀️
Hi, Jenn! I am soooo glad I came upon your videos. I just started sewing and have learned so much from you! There are many videos out there but yours is the best! Thanks again!!
Hi I’m also new sewer and love making things you made . (Question what are your hat measurements.? Your very pleasant and love all your creations. Thank you so much for teaching all that love what you do . God bless and may you always be blessed with much more success. Megan
I've been watching A LOT of baby youtubes, but no one ever says if one should wash their fabrics first and/or how to do that!!!! First time baby project sewer (I do quilts, but don't wash fabrics first) I'm going to be a brand new Nana in November 2020 & I'd love to get these projects done correctly. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated - also, is there an easy way of washing the fabric so it doesn't fray or shred in machine? TIA love these videos
My general rule is prewash wash any fabric if you plan to launder the finished item. Knit fabrics don’t fray so you’re good there. The only fabric I don’t prewash is when making a quilt, it’s difficult to wash precuts like fat quarters or charm squares. With woven fabric that frays I will often serge the raw edges or cut with pinking shears.
*_I love your videos and I've learned_*_ a few things from you :) so I have decided to feature your channel on my channel so my subscribers can take advantage of your content. I just wanted to let you know you are appreciated.~Best,Tracy from The Sewing Channel_
Hi, these are some really cute patterns and tutorials. I'm wondering if there is a way to construct the baby boots without any unfinished seams anywhere?
Thank you very much for the amazing video. I love sewing and finally I got the time to do some projects for my coming baby. But I need help with the name of the fabrics that you used. I don't really know how to choose fabric
Quite honestly, with quilting cotton prints many are limited runs and can be hard to find after they've been out for a while. I try to sew from my stash most of the time, so the fabrics are *not* new. Listing them wouldn't do much good because they're likely not available anymore. If it helps, I did a video about coordinating fabrics. ruclips.net/video/RjnmucDuTK0/видео.html
Hi there, I just love these nursery items. Do you have approx measurements for the bandana please. I am desperate to start with these. Thank you for your time xx
Heyo! Love this video, think i watched it 5 times already... Could i make the baby shoes without the interfacing? (i can only find them in 25 meter long rolls, and that seems a bit too much... Haha)
I love this video! The instructions are very clear... now I will definitely try all these projects. Out of curiosity, is it ok to make the baby booties with quilting cotton inside of knit material? And, for the burp cloth, is it worth adding a waterproof layer in between? Thank you for any advice... totally newbie sewist here!
You do need to use knit fabric for the booties, I don't think quilting cotton would work with the construction method. Burp cloth, I suppose you could add a layer but haven't tried that.
I love them all. I've made burp clothes but in a different style. I've never tried the shoe but it looks interesting. Thanks for sharing your ideas. 👏👏👏💕💕💕💕

What kind of stabilizer did you use for the bib? And for the bottom of the booties? Went into buy it and was super over whelmed with what kind. There so many.
I made the baby blanket wish you could post pics here I love it so much. There was only one problem I can't seem to stitch in a straight line😣. I don't know why😔 even when I draw a line it still crooked. Do you have any tips for me?
Hope it's okay to jump in here - you should prewash your fabric for any project using the same wash/dry/iron method that you're going to continue using when the project is complete.
I reccomend both! Prewash to see if it frays or shrinks, wash after it's done to be sure all of your seams are secure and it is safe in the washer. I've had finished projects disintegrate in the washer, but I'm glad I washed it before giving it as a gift...

This is so sweet
When my son was little I made hooded bath towels. They were so much nicer than any you could buy.
I made lots of those too. Great gifts for baby showers. Also, I was ahead of the curve. When I made them, they weren't even available widely commercially.
made the "burp cloths" with flannel and included a layer of warm and natural for thickness.... thanks so much, this worked out so well.
I have made several different bibs, burp cloths, blankets, nursing apron and some scrap stuff. I like giving gifts that I made. I use left over scraps cut in square and serge two together for wash cloths.

I'd do a narrow 3-step zigzag stitch instead of the serger.
Great tutorial 👍🙏🇨🇦
You use a walking foot for all sewing projects?
Nice tutorial! I have two babies. I think I'll make the booties!
Wonderful!
I would love to know where you bought the mint green with navy horses fabric? Thanks for these great tutorials!

which batting did you use for baby blanket
Love your projects😍 what are you using for the seam guide (the blue strip)?
They are Sewing Edge reusable strips - featured in a recent video of my favorite stuff ruclips.net/video/BELgXyrZNSE/видео.html
Sewing Report Thanks for sharing so quickly 😄
love it ! I need to make some. thank you.
Super 👌👌👌
For the baby blanket, did you prewash the fabric? And if you made it bigger, would it need to be quilted? Thank you!
In this instance, I did not prewash my fabric and it seemed okay but generally it is recommended to pre-wash cotton / natural fibers. Adding quilting is something you can do if you make a larger size.
Do you have measurements to cut the fabric to, when starting please? Thanks
does the brother cs7000i have a built in thred cutter when you finish sewing or do you have to cut it by hand?..i keep watching your videos but you never show that end part when you sew, so i am not sure,,,,which machine would you recommend this or the singer quantum stylist 9960?

Wow!!😍
What kind of stabilizer did you use for the bib? And for the bottom of the booties? Went into buy it and was super over whelmed with what kind. There so many.
Do you know where you bought your lotus pond fabric? Can’t seem to find it any where. Thank you.
It is an out-of-print fabric so probably hard to find now unfortunately
Awesome video! great ideas!
Question about the washable glue - can it gum up the needle if it's in the sewing path?
As long as it’s dry you shouldn’t have a problem
@@SewingReport great, thanks!
For the cap, which stitch is used? Overlocking?
What kind of quilt batting do people use? There are so many different choices of batting that I don’t know what’s what and what to buy.
You can use different types, for baby quilts I used soft 1/2 inch batting that I found and it was perfect
I made the baby blanket wish you could post pics here I love it so much. There was only one problem I can't seem to stitch in a straight line😣. I don't know why😔 even when I draw a line it still crooked. Do you have any tips for me?
Mark out your lines with an air/water soluble pen and do your best to sew directly on the line. I do this all the time for quilting!
beginner question do you recommend prewashing fabric or washing after the project is made.
I have watched so many videos!! But this one is so wonderful! Thank you for sharing - I cannot wait to get started on these projects.
Hi what is the purple guide on your sewing machine
Hi ! Do you allow it to be sold ?
Where do you get that walking foot from I got one from a,Aston for my brother but it’s a little different and broke after few uses? Thanks
I made the baby bib bandana, it's way smaller than what yours looks like in the video.
Where did you get your large cutting ruler from?
