An excerpt taken from the Q&A section of the 2014 National Conference with Voddie Baucham, Stephen Nichols, R.C. Sproul, R.C. Sproul Jr., and Derek Thomas.
i remember pastor John's Macarthur's sermon on God's holiness. A sovereign, all powerful, eternal, holy Being who knew no sin and could never taste any kind of physical and emotional damage His entire life from eternity past to future came down to earth on His own free will.. only to be tormented, laughed at, scorned and killed for our very sins. Until today, the magnitude of His holiness is still incomprehensible to me.
That’s powerful Man !!and after that what does man do? They marry each other dress in woman’s clothing stop prayer in schools and behave worse than sodom that’s the thanks we give for the price He paid . The grace He shows us is incomprehensible but so too will be His wrath on the day of judgement
This demonstrated the passion Sproul had for the holiness of God. It was such an important topic for the man. His intensity will be missed. He is now worshipping in the bosom of our great God and Saviour.
It was God's amazing mercy that God didn't let us live forever separated from Him, but instead blocked the way to the tree of life and sent them away from the garden so that He could redeem and restore, so that we could be with Him for eternity NOT stuck with our son and the pain that comes with it.
I often think of Ananias and Sapphira and wonder why God hasn’t dealt with me with the same severity. It stories like that stops my heart from taking the grace of God for granted. Jesus is loving and merciful and has the authority to stop my heart in an instant.
When we realize how holy God is, and when we realize how wicked we all are, it should come as a complete shock to us that this holy and righteous God can know what we did, and said, and thought on yesterday, and not kill us in our sleep last night.
1st God doesn’t make sin, he ALLOWS rebellion as a loving God and doesn’t damn us all to Hell for rebelling. Free will. 2nd There are things worse than death. When people are tortured and murdered understand that Gods punishment can be more severe. Good luck, may God direct you to Him.

Rc had a way of teaching the Word with passion and zeal and power! Thanks be to God for working in him to bring glory and honor to his name. He hit the nail on the head with the holiness of God and just how merciful God was to Adam.
100%. I love that man. We think too much of ourselves and too little of God. The church needs to wake up and understand who we truly are- wretched hell deserving sinners at the mercy of an all powerful, holy and eternal God. We need to be thankful to God for all the mercies and benefits that He bestows upon us, yet always knowing it is for His names sake, and His glory not ours that He does this (Ezekiel 36:22 and 32)
I love this clip because you can see R C was flabbergasted that believers would have this notion that depraved, wicked man would think his punishment is too severe for being the wicked lawbreaker he is (1 John 3:4, Romans 3:10-18, James 2:10, Ephesians 2:1-3, Jeremiah 17:9, etc.). The question presented has the same presupposition that many non-reformed believers bring to the table; why is God so "hard" or "mad?" Dr. Sproul rightly asked, "What's wrong with you people?" We need to be renewing our minds day to day (Romans 12:1-2) to understand the wondrous, absolute attributes of God and the totally depraved nature of man to bask in the grace, mercy, and love of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection for sins.
People will say "no no my grandad is sweet old man never harmed anyone.....how can anyone see him as bad....so what he didn't know God.....he knew his family....and isn't that most important....."
@Steven Irizarry Your complaint is already addressed, asked, and answered in Romans 9:19-24. Your best answer to your complaint is right in scripture, so I lovingly suggest you prayerfully study it and know God is God and God is good.
@Steven Irizarry Again, the answer is in scripture. God elects us unto salvation; He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4), which means He did it before He created anything in Genesis 1:1. So by definition, the non-elect are unsaved people. And no, unsaved people don't want to genuinely be saved due to their wicked nature of sin. This is what the Bible says about the unsaved world (this is scripture, not my opinion): Romans 3:10-20 A) There is none righteous B) There is none that understands C) There is no one that seeks after God D) All are unprofitable E) There is none that does good F) They have wicked, deceitful mouths G) They’re murderers H) Their ways are destructive and miserable I) They don’t know the way of peace J) They have no fear of God K) They are all guilty before God L) Nothing they do justifies them before God Ephesians 2:1-3 A) Spiritually dead B) Walking according to the world (which is according to Satan) C) Lusts/desires of the flesh and mind dictate their lives D) Children of disobedience E) Children of wrath Jeremiah 17:9 A) Deceitful heart B) Desperately wicked heart John 15:18-23 A) They hate Christ B) They hate Christians C) They hate God the Father John 3:18-19 A) Condemned already B) Loves darkness instead of light C) Their deeds are evil Romans 8:7-8 A) The carnal mind is at enmity against God (The Greek word for enmity means hostility or opposition) B) Those in the flesh can’t please God (The Greek word for flesh is sarx, which literally means the skin, but in other contexts, as with these verses, means the carnal, human nature) 1 Corinthians 2:4 A) Can’t receive the Spiritual things of God B) Can’t know the Spiritual things of God Romans 1:21 A) They don’t glorify God B) They are not thankful to God C) They are vain in their imaginations D) They have darkened, foolish hearts Proverbs 14:12 A) Man’s ways seem right to him B) The end of man’s ways is death Romans 3:23 A) All have sinned (there is no exception as it pertains to Jew or Gentile) B) All come short of the glory of God When you meditate on this list describing mankind’s nature, you understand the depths of man’s depravity. 1 John 3:4 defines sin as the transgression (or breaking of God’s law). This is more than action, it is also thoughts or words. Jesus Himself said whosoever commits sin is a slave to it (John 8:34). Sin is more than just action (a verb), it is our very nature (a noun). And because of it, if they are not chosen by God, then they will never genuinely want to be saved by the grace of God because they hate God and love themselves more. The questions you asked are answered in scripture, not my opinion. Now unless every verse I referenced with the interpretation is incorrect (which has to be shown by content, context, and grammar), then I stand by my answer.
I knew that, but the way he said ‘what’s wrong with you people’ hit me hard!! Praise be to the merciful God!!! Wretched individual that I am!! Gods everloving mercy is great toward me!

We were sovereignly and unchangeably decreed to be this way, RC. That's what's wrong with us. That question was sovereignly and unchangeably decreed to be asked.
“We were simply out of harmony with our environments. The curse of death was upon us, and God send us out to till the ground which He had likewise cursed” (Gen.3:17). “Did God show you mercy and kindness and give promise of a Redeemer for you?” “Surely He did, and gave us proofs of His love toward us in the garments He gave us to cover our shame” (Gen.3:21). “Did this signify anything to you then as an offering made by blood for sin?” “God fully explained to us the conditions of pardon. This we taught to our children and Cain knew it full well as did Abel, but Cain did not believe. . .” - Adam
God is Holy and God cannot tolerate sin. He must judge sin because sin is evil. This is the truth about God that most people always seem to forget. But he gave his Son to be the way for us to come back to him. It took God's only Son, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. That's how God showed his love and mercy to us.
@@orlandiniyeah7460 trolling pretending to not believe in someoen you are obsesssed with yeah thats stupid alright if you end up in hell you will have to chew on that for all eternity
A to the Q: because they the people at that time were under law, and also had made an oath to God by saying all that you told us, this we will do, so if you sinned and were caught in your sin you were punished immediately either through disciplinary action or death depending on the transgression committed.
+Michael I can tell you why but the chances are that like most religitards, you have a nasty little habit of not listening. He was asked why a God who is supposedly slow to anger and patient poured out such long lasting wrath and punishment upon mankind. Anyone with a few functioning brain cells can see the contradiction. Sproul, however, has shit for brains. The question angers him (because he can't fucking answer it) and like a true 'Christian' coward, he avoids it and his response is tantamount to saying "how dare anyone question God". With laughable irony, he goes on to say "what's wrong with you people?" and inadvertently tells the truth by saying "we don't know who God is". I await a cliché ridden, hypocritical, excuse filled, moronic response.
+Charles J. Easley II Your little special needs brain clearly doesn't realise that I fully explained how Sproul made a fool of himself. Read the comment again, you little spacker!

“Surely He did, and gave us proofs of His love toward us in the garments He gave us to cover our shame” (Gen.3:21).
“Did this signify anything to you then as an offering made by blood for sin?”
“God fully explained to us the conditions of pardon. This we taught to our children and Cain knew it full well as did Abel, but Cain did not believe. . .” - Adam
"For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23. WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?
alll glory to God!!!!!
Wow!
I know. How fucking stupid can you get?
@@orlandiniyeah7460 trolling pretending to not believe in someoen you are obsesssed with yeah thats stupid alright if you end up in hell you will have to chew on that for all eternity

RIP Mr. Sproul.
1:39 you're welcome
🧡
No wonder he wrote the book - "The character of God"
I mean, it's a fair question.
Yup!
Pure mass
🔥
He got more serious as he started reasoning out his response.
I beleive he's right...
🙏 Amen
Lol would have been a perfect time to say why are you clapping I’m talking about you
A to the Q: because they the people at that time were under law, and also had made an oath to God by saying all that you told us, this we will do, so if you sinned and were caught in your sin you were punished immediately either through disciplinary action or death depending on the transgression committed.
If we all had an Isaiah 6 moment… “woe is me for I am unclean”.
Sproul educated them really well.
I await a cliché ridden, hypocritical, excuse filled, moronic response.
orlandiniyeah
Ah. Name-calling: the sign of intelligence... How charming.
It usually means it's the last resort when sound argument flees from you.
+Charles J. Easley II Your little special needs brain clearly doesn't realise that I fully explained how Sproul made a fool of himself. Read the comment again, you little spacker!
orlandiniyeah
I stand uncorrected.
