It's been awhile since we have broken 80 on the channel and this round was a WILD one with lots of saves and a couple of clutch putts down the stretch at Emerald Lake Golf Club!
We play Emerald Lake often. We played the same time you played and the conditions were not good. MUCH better now, especially the greens, which have received a lot of attention from the staff. The conditions this summer are the best we’ve seen at Emerald Lake. Enjoyed watching your round and man, several of the greens have some real slope don’t they?
Alan, have you ever posted a “what’s in the bag” video ? Also would love to know your club distance/swing speed. Love all the videos and always look forward to the next one 🤛🏽👍🏽
$42 is great price.Last i heard during warmer months its runs up to $80+.Great round there,its always been tough on me but you hit ball far so probably the difference.
This is exactly where I'm stuck in my game been close this year to breaking 80 , 4 times . Smashing off the tee iron shots on point then duff chips putt like poo missing low side usually that's my strongest. I come out hot on the front then it's like I left my body on the back lol
#9 is perhaps the DUMBEST golf hole in the Charlotte market. Because of the creek and the slope down to the creek , and the fact that even in summer the fairway stays very moist the ideal tee shot is no further than the crest of the hill. I have played this course with a few guys that can bomb it and they can't get to the green side of the creek. The approach shot is very difficult because the green slopes insanely from back to front and it has a terrace. The approach is a mid iron. The landing area is so precise, few amateur players can stop the ball on the correct part of the green to have a remote chance at birdie. Par here is like making eagle.
I play that course often, yes winter early spring = challenging conditions. But it’s is in great shape here in July 2024. Would love to see you review this course. My group really enjoys playing there.
#17...This fairway is ALWAYS wet. Despite the look from the tee, the left side of the fairway is best. On the approach, NEVER be above the hole. If the ball lands to the right half of this green however, it can roll off the back right quadrant. #18....Looks relatively easy, correct? Ehhhh WRONG.. The green sits out on a spit of land that juts out into the lake. It also slopes AWAY from the approach. Reachable in two shots. Unless a player can spin the ball, the chances of holding this green with a long iron or hybrid are pretty slim.
Cheap track to play in the winter. Played on Presidents Day last month... I wasn't impressed with the conditions. Not sure if it is the fault of the golfers not fixing divots and pitch marks but almost every fairway and green looked like it got pounded with a hail storm... Don't get me wrong, it's a great track...I just hope golfers do more their part to keep the course nice.
Over the 30 or so years of this course's history, this is perhaps the most 'yo-yo' gcolf course in the market. Meaning, the conditions have been up and down. I play on the Golfweek Amateur Tour. This course was on our schedule in 2023. Our Director was informed that due to the conditions of the greens, the management wished to cancel the event. Emerald Lake was not on the schedule for 2024. I can see by your lie on #4 , in the fairway, the conditions are again suspect. Also, the rates charged by this course are well above the value.

Yup that's been my issue as well, last four holes in particular I make silly mistakes
you need to try Tillery tradition right off of Lake Tillery. About an hour outside of Charlotte!!
I've got it on my list, going to wait til it gets green again before I head out that way

You should play Stonebridge in Monroe/waxhaw area!
I played it a few weeks ago but the course was so muddy I ended up scraping the footage; will def be out there when it starts to get warmer

Yeah I kind of had a similar reaction to the conditions; lots of that in the Charlotte area though it feels like
