Great to see you correct someone who is slicing (like me) and is a lefty like I am. I say this because watching you work with someone who needs to correct a swing or how they hold a club is more informative than having instructions on what to do. Seeing growth from instruction provides the incentive to work on it. Thank you for a great video, now a lot of practice changing the circle that causes me to go across the ball.

I’ve been fighting a massive slice since I took up golf again a year ago. Had numerous lessons and even splashed out £500 for the Ping anti slice driver, nothing worked , forever in the bushes on the right and a good straight one was about 210 yards. Saw this video a few days ago and gave it a go, WOW! First few went left, small adjustment and bang down the middle on the range, played a couple of rounds and I’m mashing it, drove pin high on a 317yd hole (fairway being frozen helped) and averaging more than 250 and straight. It sends my irons left so will work on that but Thanks… you made a despondent golfer very happy😊

Found this video, got a bucket at the range, took my time and worked the steering wheel, and wow. Effortless launch and very tight dispersion with almost the entire bucket! Just wanted to comment to say this is an absolute game changer!
I've been struggling with a slice on my Driver, like Tom had (although I'm right handed) and tried so many things.
The "turning of the steering wheel" initially felt a bit alien, as did the lead hip slightly pointing forwards, but my word the results cannot be denied!
I've been to the range twice since watching this and my shots dont have that horrible outward spin on them anymore.
Something else I found helpful tacking onto this, is making sure the hip transition fires through the shot at the right time.
Power is generated through the legs a lot here, so when I make sure my hips fire through, the shot is straighter than I've ever hit.
Thanks for the Video Danny, it's worked wonders!!

I tried this move today (Tuesday 19/12/23 at my home course in South West France) and hit 14 fairways plus a long par 3 green set to 180 yds. My regular playing partner who always drives longer then I do was severely disappointed to find that he had only one longer drive. Carry distance has only slightly improved, but the lower flight I'm getting added another 15 to 20 yds of run. But what was truly stunning was the almost straight flight and a regular repeatable direction. Right to the 18th I was waiting for my drives to go pear shaped. But the more fairways I hit the more optimistic, and therefore relaxed I became.
I am gob-smacked that such a simple, easily repeated move can make so much difference. It was only a round of 94 (one over net-par for me) but in freezing damp winter conditions it was the first time in months that I broke 100. Many thanks for this video.

So the day after my great reveal I came down with severe lead knee pain. I already suffer from arthritis in the leading knee but I estimate that my open shoulder alignment was developed to protect the lead knee. With better alignment following this video I put more weight on the lead knee in the follow through.
So now I have better alignment but this morning I was protecting my knee. This produced a 20 to 30 yard draw (amazing to see when I have sliced everything all my life).
So in two rounds I have gone from 20 to 30 yards right to 20 - 30 yards left.
For me this short experience has really demonstrated the validity of Danny's disk/steering wheel concept and just what are the variables are (clubface alignment, grip, shoulder alignment and weight transfer) that I can now adjust to get back to me super driving day of 19/12/23.

Rewatched this video, and "movement of steering wheel" made such a difference. It is crazy how a small movement can completely change your shot.

Danny, Thank you so much for another great video. I think this may be one of those light bulb moments for my golf swing. I too have an outside to in swing path. It's OK with my irons but kills me with my driver. I tried the steering wheel method today at the range and had some success, but I was also left with some questions. The student in your video has a strong grip. What would be your recommendation on grip? Also, while setting up in my stance, it felt like I was leaning back putting too much weight on my back leg. What percentage of weight should be on the back leg? Lastly, it looks like your student's head is lined up completely behind the ball at address. Is that head position what I should be shooting for? Thank you for any information you can provide and again great job on the videos!!!!!

Off camera I mentioned to Tom that when you turn the steering wheel be careful not to allow yourself to lean back too much. Simply use it to line the body up. With regards the grip there is no right way

I was this guy, pull then slice across the ball. Using this setup has 100% changed the way I drive the ball, straighter and with better distance.

Danny this exactly what I was doing. This drill has put my drives back on track. Thank you so much. I've been trying to do the same thing on my irons but it's not having quite the same impact. I've ended up chunking quite a few of them. I feel like when I turn the wheel to the right I may be moving further back from the ball causing the chunks. Any advice on that would be great. Love your content, keep it up!

Hi Danny, totally understand this, but I’ve a simple question for you, with the driver, should my hands be level with the ball or slightly behind the ball? For years I’ve always had it probably 4 or 5 inches behind, but keep getting told that it should be level. Thanks. Melissa

Danny I played this afternoon and I was so happy with the way I was teeing off and hitting my fairway shots. I still fluffed a few but the changes were noticeable. Thank you for all the lessons you have taught me. I cannot thank you enough. Have a great week.

Whenever I hit driver, I worry about slicing. And I was out of bound three times...(twice slice, one hook) at golf game yesterday. I should check my position as you mentioned. Thank you for this video!!

Hey Danny. So after this, if your angle of attack is still slightly down, could you move the position of the ball from inside the heel to middle of your toes? Or is that just crazy to try? Thanks for the great vid and lesson 👍🏼

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Год назад +2

You certainly could, just remember that you club path will be slightly more left at impact potentially creating more left to right curvature

very interesting technique going to try it next time im on the range. want to see if its more effective than what i have been currently focusing on which is having my head stay behind the ball through impact. its extremely effective with irons increases ball speed, no slices just occasional pushes but sometimes early in the road i dont do it correctly with my driver and get a bad slice. i can also do it when trying to hit a draw that leads to low hooks if i close club face and mishits on left aim shots that are hit on heel that slice hard back straight with a lot of spin. i noticed when turning the wheel the club faces opens but seems to get back square during the downsing while i took a practice swing so in theory it should work. the reverse was true when turning the wheel the opposite way which makes sense why simple closing club face cant correct slice.

Another gem to take to the driving range. Is it natural when you sort of lean backwards like that to feel like your going to take a chunk out of the grass before hitting your ball? Its what makes me tend to stand up straighter. Does this same lesson apply, to a lesser degree when teeing off with you 3w or 5w?
