Thanks Mark for mentioning my channel, I'm glad to see you and your lovely boat is back sailing. The gooseneck where of no use to me , so it was great to be able to help you out. Best regards from Jarle. Looking forward to your upcoming adventures
What are you looking for the new boat? don't skimp on head room, will only need a decent keel to go around the horn once, 80-200+days in the cabin per year for the duration you own her.
Cheers Richie. As I was saying in another comment, looking for a 36-40 foot GRP sloop or cutter, preferably shaft drive, no teak decks, aft cockpit, more modern than the Halmatic but still solid. Sadler starlight 39 top of list at the moment, saw a Wauquiez Centurion 36 in Sardinia I would have bought only it sold before I could fly out to see it (flew anyway and got to see it and loved it)
A great enjoyable video to sit down to with a beer. The Greenland trip is going to be absolutely memorable, make sure you record it!! Not many sailors get that far north.
@@SoloSailingSapphira Yes off to the Azores solo on 16th June then down to Madeira and Lanzarote with some crew and back over the Atlantic on the ARC again double handed so should be a great season. In a Tradewind 35 this time as small bilge keelers aren't really the boats to do the Atlantic in!! I've learned my lesson now.
A wee bit of room can be a blessing as long as its not too much - more space usually equates to more junk, at least for me. Sounds like a nice plan for the season. Am doing the Gulf of Suez, back through the Canal again into the East Med, Aegean Sea, Ionian Sea and Adriatic Sea until September. What happens after September is behind Door #2. Fair Winds Mate!
Interesting perspective Eric, most people I've met have been telling me stowage space is their number 1 requirement for long term liveaboard. I am naturally a minimalist type I think, so your thinking fits the way I see things. Sounds like you've gotten a lot of sailing done since I was last chatting to you, Eastern Med sounds great.
Yeah, something in the 36-40 foot range, GRP, sloop or cutter, aft cockpit, pref shaft drive, looking at slightly more modern designs than the Halmatic, but still solid. Starlight 39 probably top of list but pushes the budget, Wauquiez Centurion 36 or 38 also on there. I've ruled out the Swedish boats, they're out of budget when in decent condition in that size. And no to JenBenBav or Hanse. Happy to hear any suggestions along that line of thought!
I'm in a Rival 36, obviously would recommend it, but still an older boat. They also do 38 and 41. I recently discovered Vancouvers: (next to me in yard, but also a 34 on the tube) good solid and newer. Do pilot house versions or normal, full keel, cutters - worth a Quick Look

Cheers Jarle, it's great to be back on the water! Looking forward to seeing what you get up to for the season too
Missed crossing wakes by about week. Well done. Love that bit of ocean/coast.
Thanks Patrick, it is a beautiful part of Ireland for sure
Great to see you back Mark. Love all you videos
Thanks Michael!
Wonderful, Mark! Keep your sailing videos coming!
Will do, thanks for watching 😁
Looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings you!
Great plans for the future... Look forward to seeing you around the world in a comfortable yacht...
Hope so Colin!
Love it. Keep the dream alive

Thanks! Definitely will do. Any plans this season yourself?

Ah I'd love to be heading off again, miss the islands. Tradewind 35 is a lovely boat, fair winds!

What boat is next? You must have something in mind…..

.....mind you having just sanded the hull of a 36 footer I would be lying to say that at times I wasn't wishing for a smaller boat......
😀😀😀
It's been a while 🎉
It has! I recorded some stuff over winter but decided I only want to be posting stuff that is taken at sea for the most part.
