    This looks easier and more logical to do than a Subaru swap.

    1:09 " Chrome Moly push rods " The stock ones are aluminum so valve lash does not dramatically change as the aluminum block and aluminum heads expand. ( Aluminum has a greater expansion rate compared to steel )

    Hello Mats
    Nice job your engine rebuild
    Could you please explain what modifications have to be done for the 78 crankshaft, and allso where your throttle' bodies and pipes are coming from ?
    Again great job, and thank you for sharing!

    • @MatsGarage
      @MatsGarage  3 года назад

      I dont know what the exact modifications is done to the case to fit the 78 mm crank. Check out the shoptalkforums.com and ask there. The throttle bodies are these ones: www.vwspeedshop.com/product.php?productid=16821&cat=395&page=1

    Also Mat, I'm keen to know what modifications you had done to your cylinder heads? Did you weld up the spark plug hole and drill again for the 2L 914 plug angle and 2L 914 chambers?

    • @MatsGarage
      @MatsGarage  2 года назад +2

      As I didnt do the job myself I'm not certain of the exact procedure but yes the heads were welded up and remachined for the 2.0 spark plug angle.

    • @mathewboyd3746
      @mathewboyd3746 2 года назад

      @@MatsGarage OK, the 2.0L 914 plug angle is good when going for the higher compression of more than 8.0 : 1

    Hey Mat, just wandering which size conrod journal your 78mm crank has? is it Type4 2L or Type1 or Chev journal size?

    • @MatsGarage
      @MatsGarage  2 года назад

      I dont know which size was used, but most likely the T4 one.

    Stumbled across your channel from a 914world link. I'm in the very early stages of collecting parts for my own build and I've landed on a very similar spec and drive train parts list to what you've outlined. Though the car is a 68 vw fastback. I too am starting with a 914 1.7 and have looked to building it out to 2.3 with the FI package from the dubshop with ITB's, MS, etc. I am curious about a couple of things:
    The scart SS is incredible, how do you feel about it at highway cruising speeds and daily driving use in general? Though I don't plan on running heater boxes and will likely have a header built, I would like to hear your thoughts.
    I've got a '67 911 transmission, I am also curious about what gear ratios you are using in your box.
    And please link me to your blog I once visited but have since lost
    Thank you for sharing !

    • @MatsGarage
      @MatsGarage  4 года назад +2

      The Scart SS is great even at highway driving. Sure there is alittle noise but nothing annoying or intrusive. My gearbox is a stock 914 2.0 box. So it should have the gearing according to this page.

      Cheers and good luck with your build !

    Hi Mats, this is a great video. How much horsepower does it produce?

  • @royceyen6762
    @royceyen6762 3 года назад +1

    Matts, is there a list of your parts, incl.,your fuel injection & where you got it?

    • @MatsGarage
      @MatsGarage  3 года назад +3

      The ITB's, crank trigger, cam trigger and air temperature sensor are from thedubshop.net
      The fuel injection system is a MaxxECU system available from them or their resellers. The injectors are from a scrapped Saab 9-5. Fuel lines and throttle pulley system is from Tangerine racing. Thats all the major components. Let me know if you have other questions and I will try to answers as best I can.

    Var har du köpt head temp sensorerna? De som sitter under tändstiften? Hur är dessa kopplade till MaxxECU?

    • @MatsGarage
      @MatsGarage  2 года назад

      Temp sensorerna kommer från thesensorconnection.com/category/cht-sensors/all-cht-sensors och de pluggar rakt i 4 av de 8 typ K ingångarna i mitt Maxxecu.

    2.3 in a 914 must be almost too fast.

    • @MatsGarage
      @MatsGarage  4 года назад +6

      Naaaah, When you start putting in smallbock chevys or 300 hp Subaru turbos I think you start getting into the "too fast" zone. Or at least "Oh shit I sneezed and ruined my rear tires"
