Stay in touch with your dad as much as you possibly can, and treasure that relationship because you will miss it tremendously when it is not there anymore. I really enjoyed the video. I was not sure what to make of it at first but as it unfolded it became much more emotionally connective and its really a story about you and your family. Pretty inspiring stuff
Wow this just blew me away fantastic bro, love from Christchurch nz yip we are one country, one team.and what does team mean? " together everyone achieves more " dam straight ! ALL BLACKS FOR LIFE !!!! CHEERS BRO KIA KAHA❤
That’s awesome! The film originally aired on Super Sports in South Africa and I think they were the highest TV ratings we got anywhere in the world. South African passion for rugby is the only thing that matches New Zealand. The Springbok/All Blacks connection is a very special one in the world of rugby. And I love SA - been there seven times and made my first film there.
Kia ora Julian, I was very touched by the vulnerability of your story. Even now as we are about to face perhaps the hardest 4 weeks of the All Blacks World cup history, its good to be reminded that despite the expectations, our faith in the black jersey trancends single moments. That we were also able to see the impact of the legacy on your family was a privilege. Nga mihi e hoa.
That last bit with you and your sister in tears as we won 2011, was a bit of a tear jerker. Nice documentary bro. Im living in Germany with my german wife and son. He knows where daddy is from and he will know daddys heart is with Aotearoa and the All Blacks. My wife encougrage's him also. Even though she is german and soccer. Cheers brother and Arohanui to your whanau from us here!.
Damn, didn't expect this to go the direction it eventually went. The openness of communication you two had - even after so much time and distance apart - was pretty incredible and something I could never imagine with my own dad (similar story, divorced early in childhood and moved away). Thanks for sharing
Julian, thank you for your beautiful documentary of your journey and how the All Blacks were intertwined in it. As an expat Kiwi living in the Middle East it really resonated. You captured New Zealand and its evolving relationship with the AB's in a deeply personal way that resonated with me.
That is wonderful to hear! My father moving to the Middle East during production of the film adds another layer of resonance to your experience. The kind words are so appreciated! 🙏🏼
Flipping heck! Am a passionate Bok supporter for life - really appreciated watching this! Could resonate deeply with how you feel! Had me choked up there. Great documentary 👍👍

Awesome documentary Julian. The All Blacks have inspired me in many facets of my life, and it pleases me to see authentic fans as yourself. God bless you and your family.
also i can’t think about how hard it must’ve been for you all to be so vulnerable, especially when it’s going to be public so i truly thank all of you for that
Greetings from the USA. I've never lost my drive to see the New Zealand national team play. I'm proud to be a Kiwi, people over here barely know we exist, by many who even know rugby know of the All Blacks. I'm today's age i think we've lost our edge, but New Zealandersv should always be proud that we are here in such high esteem, and no matter what we are still held in high regard and seen as the team to beat. I've always followed my countries teams with pride and hope, no matter which code, v and my late father always kept me in touch with current events as much as possible. I hope in 2023 we prove the nay sayers wrong and win through, but when push comes to shove life will go on, and i hope I'm still proud of our people for trying to be the best against countries with bigger populations. As an added fact, my father once told me that the are more Americans playing rugby than the are New Zealanders. I think that says something about us. Not what i expected sir, but a very watchable video, may your life be successful.
Thanks for sharing these wonderful thoughts, I really relate. And so glad you enjoyed the film. It is tough as a Kiwi living in America because it is hard to find people to talk Rugby with in day to day life! Win or lose, it’s All Blacks forever 🖤

The international rugby world owes the All Blacks so much. To the global growth of for me the greatest game is amazing. Watching Japan beat teams like Ireland, Scotland and Wales knowing that Kiwi players and coaches advanced their game is something to be proud of.
After the 2007 loss I went to a local high school derby here in Christchurch and realized the future of our game was secure and the young talent and passion would ensure the All Black's would dominate again.
What a documentary! Im so glad it came up on my feed! I know its about your connection to the ABs but also shows how unhealthy our obsession with the ABs is. We sadly crucify our coaches and players forgetting they are human too. Great documentary!

This has helped me understand why all blacks supporters are such bad losers they are trully passionate, im irish and we get knocked out of every world cup at the quarter final stage, even england do better than us😢 but we are now at a stage where a loss is trully hard to take. However our national sport is not rugby so we are still not as passionate
@suda2849 mori ori to name one. Also, the maori people home land is hawai'iki, and they literally traveled to New zealand in wakas. How can you be the indigenous people of a land when you don't originate from there?
@@SalemTotal The mori ori did not predate Māori people, debunked a long time ago. Māori identity and culture developed over hundreds of years in New Zealand- they weren’t Māori when they landed in NZ- maybe the genes aren’t indigenous, but by that logic nobody is indigenous to anywhere right? 🤷♂️ I dunno maybe I’m stupid
How the hell does this not have more views and likes?

Great doco though mate.
Piri best haka leader ever
This has helped me understand why all blacks supporters are such bad losers they are trully passionate, im irish and we get knocked out of every world cup at the quarter final stage, even england do better than us😢 but we are now at a stage where a loss is trully hard to take. However our national sport is not rugby so we are still not as passionate
We eat weetbix we breathe the haka, we bleed black.
Serious question: are we in a cult?
LMFAO!!!🤣😂🤣👏🏽 we are the best, even if we do loose games every now and then💯✌🏽
Mean watch...
When the All Blacks lose have another beer and blame the ref.
Its almost as bad as sparta throwing the unworthy babies into a death pit. Nothing has changed.
its only a sport
So they say.
Maori aren't indigenous to new zealand. They colonized new zealand before the English did.
From whom?
@suda2849 no i agree. By that logic, really only aboriginals are indigenous in this part of the world.
Fuckin beautiful Doco Julian thank you 👏🏽✊🏽✌🏽🙏🏽
