When I got my Amerex B500 extinguisher, I accidentally cut off the pin retainer because I thought it was part of the packaging. So I taped the end of the safety pin itself until I can use it for a fire demo.
Hi everyone firstly I a Fire Extinguisher service technician I also work in a hydro test station and I have pulled apart hundreds of these units and tested and operated them. The cylinder build quality is slightly better in the Ansul plus the internal products such as the syphon tube is slightly larger with the Ansul. The Ansul dose have a slightly higher test pressure this indicates the wall thickness and build is slightly better. What dose this mean to the average Joe, nothing. When purchasing the unit look at the fire test rating on the cylinder eg 4a:40bc You might find that the Ansul might have a slightly higher fire rating. This only comes into factor when deciding what unit the fire safety company will put & install in commercial / industrial properties. The ammonium ABC powder is high performance in both units again to the average Joe this means nothing. Both units are US made and have a great build quality but if I had to choose as a service tech I would choose Ansul Either way for a powder base ABC unit both are good.
Ansul has problematic gauges, I always have to replace them. Remember there’s a difference between 2A10BC and 3A40BC which can change up your flow rates.
I have always preferred Amerex over Ansul. I find doing Annual Fire Extinguisher Inspections are much faster with Amerex. Can you compare Amerex to Badger?
I have a blind tenant who I need to get a fire extinguisher for. His kitchen is tiny and literally only big enough to stand directly in front of the stove or maybe a couple feet back. Do you have any recommendations for an extinguisher?
Hey! This is a good question. Because of the fact the kitchen is small, you could even get a little Tundra spray can fire extinguisher which is basically a fire extinguisher in an aerosol can, which is easy for him to use but not too strong as to be difficult.
@@FireAlarmDude5967 Yep! Thanks. 👍 That's exactly what I was thinking too. Also one of those handle triggers that clip onto aerosol cans so he knows where he's aiming. Have you used tundra? Do you find that to be the best (for small close range cans) and with the widest swath of effective extinguishing power? Being blind he will need as much room for error as possible.
@@KurtG85 I have done a review video on tundra. I am personally not a fan of tundra for most applications but this is a situation where it would be a good choice. Also, there is a different alternative called “FireGone” which is another aerosol sold at Walmart. It has a directional nozzle and comes out as a foam which may be better
I've seen this video several times bro, I was thinking why you don't make a comparison between the old ansul sentry fire extinguishers vs the current ones, I don't know if you have old ansul sentry with charge, I think it would be a good comparison.
Love this video. Do you think Victory is as good as ansul or amerex? I have always bought amerex, but they are hard to find where I am now. Also what should I do with a plastic handle Kidde from 1996 that still shows in the green?
Victories are interesting, I’ve heard both good and bad things but I’ve never owned one so can’t say for sure. Honestly, dispose of it if you no longer need it

It’s shocking that someone with 40 years in the fire service and 22 years in the petroleum industry doesn’t know the difference between a stored pressure and cartridge operated extinguisher
Quality and inflation. Amerex fire extinguishers are built to a very high standard. A lot of the junk that’s technically approved in the UK is poor quality but yes I agree our stuff is expensive
Very nice video! It’s good to see a side by side comparison of two of the nicest extinguishers on the market.
I've been doing fire extinguisher servicing for 40 years in Hamrick's is a the best fire extinguisher
Yeah Amerex is good
Consider in future testing weigh before and after a test to see if they discharged all 5lbs of material.
Thank you! Just got one of the Amerex ABC’s from the guy that replaces them at my job. Brand new!

I think the Amerex looks really good they both are good but Amerex won slightly in my opinion

The extinguishers in this video are both 3A40BC rated and yes Ansul has been having lots of issues recently
It's an Amex that's what I mean somehow it didn't come out as amrox but that's Superior extinguisher
I think the nameplate on the Amerex is much better. It’s kinda hard to read the black nameplate.
I agree
I agree also but ansul is a USA Made extinguisher also
Yeah i work for Johnson controls in Marinette Wisconsin I drive forklift there I see the fire extinguishers everyday definitely made in America 🇺🇸. 😀😎
I have always preferred Amerex over Ansul. I find doing Annual Fire Extinguisher Inspections are much faster with Amerex. Can you compare Amerex to Badger?
Perhaps
Do you think you could compare a Buckeye and a Amerex sometime?
Perhaps

Doesn't Amerex still offer stainless steel operating handles/levers as an option ?
Brass valve, yes
With ANSUL rebrands take SimplexGrinnell for example, do they preform any different?
no
They do not. It’s the exact same product
What is the exact model for the Amerex extinguisher?
B402

where did you get the sentry extinguisher
eBay
@@FireAlarmDude5967 thx
You should check out some Badger "extra" fire extinguishers bro. I just ordered the purple k and the ABC brand new.
where did you order them, they look cool
this is a apple vs oranges test as ANSUL was made for the petroleum industry and the AMEREX was made for more common uses .
That’s completely wrong. Both extinguishers are 5 pound ABC extinguishers with the same rating. Neither is produced for a petroleum industry.

My school has amerex extinguishers
👍
Can you take a empty extinguisher to your local fire station .Tom Brazil
In the US, the fire station usually can’t however perhaps in Brazil they do. It never hurts to try
is there a reason amerex/american extinguishers are so expensive? $70 for a 10lb co2 in the uk compared to $315 from amerex...?
Quality and inflation. Amerex fire extinguishers are built to a very high standard. A lot of the junk that’s technically approved in the UK is poor quality but yes I agree our stuff is expensive
Maybe because it is being imported rather than locally made ?
Why was the Amerex vs Kidde video removed?
Are you Kidde ing?
I like this video my favorite is amerex
Lol. I just have a first alert and a kidde extinguisher.
Can’t find the kidde and amerex video
I ended up removing it. A new one will be made soon
