Tips for Fire Extinguishers in the Home

As part of its public safety education campaign, the Plymouth Fire Department shares tips and information with residents regarding fire extinguishers in the home. Before using an extinguisher for a fire, call 911 immediately.
Fire extinguishers can be extremely effective on small fires in a home or apartment and can make a big difference in the outcome of an emergency.
If there’s a fire, one of the most important things to consider is whether the flames seem like they can be handled with an extinguisher. If the fire seems too big or out of control, residents should not attempt to extinguish it and should leave the area immediately and call 911.
