Yes, as an asian male like me who lives in the USA. Have always like non-asian girls/women especially white/caucasian girls/women. But has always been shy to approach them and talk to them. But I’m in a relationship with a English woman now. We met on a Facebook group page for Asian men who likes non-asian women or Vice versa. She had an interest in me. So she have visited the U.S twice to meetup with me. 5 months ago she was here for 2 weeks. Then over a month ago she was here for over a week but had to go home early for emergency.

I think both of you guys are terrific. For me, I am a Korean-American man married to a Korean wife. My wife is about 2 inches taller than me. We somehow do not like each other's height. However, we realize that finding a husband or wife who has great character is extremely competitive. You just can't pick anyone based on appearance or race alone. You need to love each other. I see nothing wrong with inter-racial marriages after I had an ugly break-up with a Korean ex-girlfriend. I think it is extremely shallow for anyone to marry someone just because they are Korean, white, rich or simply pretty. I am so sorry for all of the prejudice. Society creates the social institution of interracial dating/marriage that establishes the "rules" and even double standards. The reason why you experience hostility and resistance is because it's not the norm for you to be with an asian guy since it's not normal for asian men to score girls. I live I UK and here AMWF couples quite unusual thing(I am white and my bf is asian)....so whenever I go somewhere to eat with my bf I get all these funny looks from ppl of all ethnicities...but yes it's quite true that in restaurant we get seated further awau from asian families or couples, I get angry, not satisfied or killing looks from asian girls (it doesn't matter of they jave white bf or asian) I get looks from asian families and wven stares from men in these families and ppl always look back to check whether it was a hallucination or not. But that makes me actually feel proud of my relationship because he is an amazing guy and yes he is Asian. I find asian guys more attractive, healthy, interesting less lazy than white guys, they care more anout their families and future and more responsible. I am British and my husband is Chinese. We met in England where mixed couples are very common to see. We went to live in his country and it was amazing how welcome we felt. It was not the norm to see a white female/Asian male set up as it was usually the other way around. But I got accepted more in Asian circles than in wholy white circles. We then moved to Australia were it was more common to see Asian female/white male set ups. But I have not had any strange looks in any country due to our relationships goes.
At 1:31 Mike Bow brings up the "it's the dream to date a white girl" comment. The reason for the dream, as best I understand it, is that it indicates acceptance by Whites of Asians in a society where Whites are dominant, i.e. Asians are "worthy" of being in the dominant culture. (Obviously, people are not thinking this consciously, but this is the subconscious trigger.)
I think Asian male/white female relationships are arguely better than Asian male/Asian female or even white women/white men relationships.White women/Asian men are pefect fits for one another. Most asian in the west are shy, but not all. Its kinda also the culture, asian males are reserved and calm mannered. I live in Ontario, Canada and the number of asian guys and non asian women here are almost as many as any other interracial couples. Theres not a single month where i have not seen an asian guy with a white chick or some other ethnicity. Keep tryin youll find one or one finds you hopefully :)

I am white and have only dated other white, taller men. Getting out of my comfort zone was the best thing. I am getting use to the culture and l love the Asian cuisine.

I don't value my skin color. I don't really have an opinion about skin color at all. My gf and I get the same looks from white guy - asian girl couples... the "that's not how it works!" look. Funnily enough, when we visited Hong Kong, the old ladies all gave us big smiles and the white women were the ones giving her death stares, like "why are you fraternizing with the locals?" We were at a comedy bar one night with another couple (white guy, asian girl), and the four of us got seated between a gay couple and a black/white couple. The comedian commented that it must be interracial couples' night.

I have been dating a Korean man for 7 years. We live in the 2 most populated Korean City in the USA. The Asian women hate it when men date foreigners, but the Asian men call out congrats when they see us. Most restaurants refuse to serve us. Asian women cashiers refuse to scan my stuff (even in walmart). I have been called tea house girl and slut every where I go. I can't even buy a Bible. One time at Mozart (Korean bakery) the cashier tried to charge us an extra $5 because she claimed it was for tolerating "the slut". We had to get the manager to fix the price. I completely understand your pain. It is sad that interracial couples are look down on, especially as diverse at the USA. As long as your BF treats you well, who cares what others think? If you're an adult, your family will have to accept your decision because it's your life! Your parents will not be around forever to dictate what you should do so you have to follow your heart. From my experience with interracial dating, when you're deeply in love with your partner, you no longer notice your love one's skin color. I get stares from mostly older adults but rarely from young people. As the older generations die out, interracial dating will become more more acceptable and perhaps, even the norm.

The "Melting Pot" of America appears mostly in the west and east coast of the United States. The states in between are mostly populated by whites and blacks, and there are very few Asians. Overall, Asian males and White females couples aren't as common as White males and Asian female couples in the USA so you will find people staring or making rude comments.

My husband is Korean and I got the same reaction with strangers on Koreatown (LA). But fortunately my motherinlaw loves me. But I feel like this is something we will always have to deal with but the important thing to do is to ignore and not care because at the end of the day you have each other. Love sees no color.

I think it depends where you live. When my boyfriend and me stay in Germany nobody ever looks. But as he works in Shanghai we are alway getting stared at when we go outside over there. Death eyes aren't that much of an issue although I got them from older ladies when we went on the "wedding market" (where the elders advertise their children to find suiting matches) for fun once . Normally people will compliment him in chinese on having a "blonde laowai" for a wife, so this "you're living the dream, dude" attitude seems to be quite common. Another time someone asked Zijiang if he was my translator...

I was only able to date non asians because I lived in a pretty darn non asian area. believe me, every date or gf I dated took ton of convincing, and talking that I am just as nice as anyone, speak English etc. What was I going to do? If there was no Asian girl around, just sit around, do nothing, and complain that I can't date? It did make me into a very understanding person in the end though. The experience was most often than not hurtful, but I also met very good, open minded non asian girls, and realized there are always good people in the world. I ended up marrying a fob asian girl lol (despite me never thinking I would be able to get along culturally) Ironically, it was the hardest thing ever for me because I grew up so different, and although I look asian, I was so far from being like her. After almost 3 years, we learned so much from each other, and I learned even more about my own heritage, and I was able to share my experience with her and teach her about misunderstandings that many asian fobs have about America. It is interesting how people hold other races at different levels instead of seeing them as their own person.
I'm a white female and my boyfriend is Chinese. We live in Seattle and I don't feel like people look at us, even when we're at Asian specific places. We did however, go to a comedy show where Korean born Bobby Lee looked at my man and said "Asian with a white girl, you've made it!" For non Asian women who think Asian men aren't feeling you, it's a lie.. they would love to date outside of their race they're just shy (typically!) I'm an Asian female but I'm happy seeing more Asian male/non-Asian female relationships simply because Asian men are so often perceived as "weak", "geeky", or "feminine" in western countries that it's ridiculous. And it's sad because so many Asian females choose to be with non-Asian males but not too many the other way around--one can only imagine the impact on Asian-American guys' self esteems (and Asian guys living in other western countries) that may have. I think the more Asian male/non-Asian female relationships there are, the more confident Asian-American guys will feel. But why do I care so much? I think both of you guys are terrific. For me, I am a Korean-American man married to a Korean wife. My wife is about 2 inches taller than me. We somehow do not like each other's height. However, we realize that finding a husband or wife who has great character is extremely competitive. You just can't pick anyone based on appearance or race alone. You need to love each other. I see nothing wrong with inter-racial marriages after I had an ugly break-up with a Korean ex-girlfriend. I think it is extremely shallow for anyone to marry someone just because they are Korean, white, rich or simply pretty. I am so sorry for all of the prejudice. The reason why you experience hostility and resistance is because it's not the norm for you to be with an asian guy since it's not normal for asian men to score girls. I am British and my husband is Chinese. We met in England where mixed couples are very common to see. We went to live in his country and it was amazing how welcome we felt. It was not the norm to see a white female/Asian male set up as it was usually the other way around. But I got accepted more in Asian circles than in wholy white circles. We then moved to Australia were it was more common to see Asian female/white male set ups. But I have not had any strange looks in any country due to our relationships goes.

The reason for the dream, as best I understand it, is that it indicates acceptance by Whites of Asians in a society where Whites are dominant, i.e. Asians are "worthy" of being in the dominant culture. Most asian in the west are shy, but not all. Its kinda also the culture, asian males are reserved and calm mannered. I live in Ontario, Canada and the number of asian guys and non asian women here are almost as many as any other interracial couples. Theres not a single month where i have not seen an asian guy with a white chick or some other ethnicity. Keep tryin youll find one or one finds you hopefully :)

My gf and I get the same looks from white guy - asian girl couples... the "that's not how it works!" look. Funnily enough, when we visited Hong Kong, the old ladies all gave us big smiles and the white women were the ones giving her death stares, like "why are you fraternizing with the locals?"

I have been dating a Korean man for 7 years. We live in the 2 most populated Korean City in the USA. The Asian women hate it when men date foreigners, but the Asian men call out congrats when they see us. Most restaurants refuse to serve us. Asian women cashiers refuse to scan my stuff (even in walmart). I have been called tea house girl and slut every where I go. I can't even buy a Bible. One time at Mozart (Korean bakery) the cashier tried to charge us an extra $5 because she claimed it was for tolerating "the slut". We had to get the manager to fix the price. I completely understand your pain. It is sad that interracial couples are look down on, especially as diverse at the USA. As long as your BF treats you well, who cares what others think? If you're an adult, your family will have to accept your decision because it's your life! Your parents will not be around forever to dictate what you should do so you have to follow your heart. From my experience with interracial dating, when you're deeply in love with your partner, you no longer notice your love one's skin color. I get stares from mostly older adults but rarely from young people. As the older generations die out, interracial dating will become more more acceptable and perhaps, even the norm.

The "Melting Pot" of America appears mostly in the west and east coast of the United States. The states in between are mostly populated by whites and blacks, and there are very few Asians. Overall, Asian males and White females couples aren't as common as White males and Asian female couples in the USA so you will find people staring or making rude comments.
If people have a problem with you two, then thats their problem. Not yours. Although they could also be staring cos they find you a cute couple or something. You never know. Bottomline, who cares what other ppl think. other ppl suck.

My husband is Korean and I got the same reaction with strangers on Koreatown (LA). But fortunately my motherinlaw loves me. But I feel like this is something we will always have to deal with but the important thing to do is to ignore and not care because at the end of the day you have each other. Love sees no color.
I have gotten a few weird looks from being with my husband (Chinese). But for the most part people have been very nice. And this was in China as well! Even the rural part. I got more stares for just being white.

I think it depends where you live. When my boyfriend and me stay in Germany nobody ever looks. But as he works in Shanghai we are alway getting stared at when we go outside over there. Death eyes aren't that much of an issue although I got them from older ladies when we went on the "wedding market" (where the elders advertise their children to find suiting matches) for fun once . Normally people will compliment him in chinese on having a "blonde laowai" for a wife, so this "you're living the dream, dude" attitude seems to be quite common. Another time someone asked Zijiang if he was my translator...

Cuase Korean girl are cute, less hairy, petite, more feminine etc. even a lot of white expats avoid western girls in asia. Add to that you have to often make the first move cause even guys who find you attractive won't think you are interested in them, look all the comments here. But you have some advantages too if you have pale skin and softer caucasian features so its not all bad.
I know what you guys mean lol I have an Asian (Vietnamese) boyfriend and I get weird looks from White and Asian people. Especially in Chinatown. We were in a restaurant and and the waitress assumed that I wouldn't like the food because I was white and also that I couldn't use chopsticks lmao. But his fam loves me so thats all I care about :)

I was only able to date non asians because I lived in a pretty darn non asian area. believe me, every date or gf I dated took ton of convincing, and talking that I am just as nice as anyone, speak English etc. What was I going to do? If there was no Asian girl around, just sit around, do nothing, and complain that I can't date? It did make me into a very understanding person in the end though. The experience was most often than not hurtful, but I also met very good, open minded non asian girls, and realized there are always good people in the world.
I ended up marrying a fob asian girl lol (despite me never thinking I would be able to get along culturally) Ironically, it was the hardest thing ever for me because I grew up so different, and although I look asian, I was so far from being like her. After almost 3 years, we learned so much from each other, and I learned even more about my own heritage, and I was able to share my experience with her and teach her about misunderstandings that many asian fobs have about America.
At the end of the day, I conclude that more Asian men should date white/black/latin women etc. Because not only does it erase some misconceptions, but in the whole picture makes people mature culturally.

I'm a halfie, who is usually confused as white and many times I have had my Asian bf receive high fives from strangers for dating me. It was quite odd, but at the time I was visiting Taiwan. It is interesting how people hold other races at different levels instead of seeing them as their own person.

I'm an Asian female but I'm happy seeing more Asian male/non-Asian female relationships simply because Asian men are so often perceived as "weak", "geeky", or "feminine" in western countries that it's ridiculous. And it's sad because so many Asian females choose to be with non-Asian males but not too many the other way around--one can only imagine the impact on Asian-American guys' self esteems (and Asian guys living in other western countries) that may have. I think the more Asian male/non-Asian female relationships there are, the more confident Asian-American guys will feel.
But why do I care so much? Well, first off, I have a teenage brother who I care a lot about and I would hate having him feel crushed or depressed and think he's worth less than other men simply because he doesn't see too many guys like him being in successful romantic relationships. And second of all, I'm married to an Asian guy so any future sons I will have will obviously be 100% Asian and I would hate having them go through that as well.
