Aftermarket seals for upper and lower intake are available in Amazon and E-bay, etc.. Their cost are reasonable, a lot cheaper than genuine Jaguar parts. and you can get repair kits( Jaguar original) of the insert for intake vacuum hoses. Cheers! I love the X-type!
@MuLife You're welcome! FYI, I purchased Fel-Pro MS96494 Plenum Gasket Set and other seals provided by the company. I've not installed them yet, but their quality is good enough to my eyes. and when it coms to vaccum hose adapters , C2S15816 is its part code and also available in online markets. What you need to replace are just o-rings and plastic inserts of the item. No need to replace the metal housing . Good luck! o;)
@@MuLife You're welcome. If you have a problem of solenoid B, you can fix it by just replacing it by new one. I hope your X-type get fixed soon and serve you well.

Good video, thanks. I don't know if I'm confident enough to do this. Not very much experience. Also, what is the "valve cover"? Is that the same as the manifold cover? Mechanic said mine was cracked. And is there only one?
You should NEVER put RTV silicone on any gasket especially not a rubber o ring type. It’s one or the other either a gasket or rtv but never both. There was no reason to put a bunch of rtv on those intake gaskets… would not follow his advice on that part of the repair.
Yeah there is so much over-spill that it's going to reduce air flow and reduce power. Much better to replace the gaskets with new. There's a place for liquid gasket but that isn't it.
What you missed are not gaskets there O rings. The two big black circles that are on the right side of the intake manifold plenum there held in with 2 8mm bolts. Those are intake manifold tuning valves. IMT.
Hey question, I just changed my intake manifold on my 2007 Jaguar X Type. The two small bolts with the brass around them wont tighten. Any pointers how to get them to tighten, they may be stripped.
When you took the intake off there was a hose you disconnected off camera, what is that? I have a 2.5l x type and its missing that hose and im trying to get a new one but i have no idea what its for Edit: i found out what it was, still love the video though. What could happen if you took a 2004 jaguar x type all wheel drive for a 120 mph ride after it had been sitting for a couple of years, and someone drove it from Oklahoma to Southern Arizona before it was driven at 120 mph. I dont think it has ever been over 80mph before .
Are there more than 6 bolts that hold the intake manifold off to get to the bottom gaskets? I see six bolts, and the fuel rail bolts, which I left in. It will not budge, maybe it got permatexed in.
JHF i had similar issues where under load it would misfire , turned out to be bad coil , i suggest you replace spark plugs and coils once you perform the gasket repair👍🏻
I'm going for the knock senor right there now. Also, I want to replace that inlet pipe gasket to the block. I saw some dry antifreeze, and we had a slow leak, think that might be devil in the details. I got the lower gaskets, and I was wondering if it was a requirement to put gasket maker on it, or was that something you did extra?
Pat Hamer only reason i put gasket maker on top of the existing is because the current gasket are old and slightly dry. You dont need to apply if you have new ones already. I wish i did the knock sensor back then because i have to do it now haha.

im getting the same problem im pretty sure limp mode no cruise available wont go over 3000 rpms possible vaccum leak ? when i stick my head in the engine bay it seems like theres a hissing air coming from the left side of the engine bay just infront of where the orings are ? any Idea?
Yes definitely a vaccum leak of some sort , if you can hear hissing try spraying air or brake cleaner around the area and see if rpms / idle changes , if it does you have found your leak.
@@briansauter5702 Yes these codes are for too lean which can be caused by vaccum leak , inspect for leaks. Check your lines , hoses and gaskets. quickest way is like i said to spray air/brake cleaner around the area until the idle/rpm changes.

Why do backyard mechanics silicone everything. If the manufacturer wanted silicone they would have put it on at the factory. You missed the 2 IMT O rings and the 2 O ring kits. One for the brake booster pipe and one for the purge valve pipe. They go bad and cause a vacuum leak And NO. You can’t fix it with silicone
