  • In today's DIY Wednesday video we are going to keep those peeping tom neighbors at bay with an amazing privacy screen!
With a few pallets, very little money, a jig saw, and a palm sander we are going to create a beautiful piece that will add drama and a focal point to your backyard...and yes, we are going to get a little more privacy while we're at it. All and all...this statement piece is going to cost about $25 but the overall impact will look like it cost $1000! And this is something you can totally do. Like I said...All you need is a jig saw and a palm sander. It doesn't get much easier than that.

**Adult Language Alert!** - Even though this video is over a year old...lately we have had a few people concerned with the language I use in this video. Even though this video includes a Warning at the beginning...For for those of you who may be easily offended...I use 10 curse words throughout this 25 minute video. The word B---h is used twice, S--t is used 5 times, F--k is used once, H--l is used once, and D--n is used once. If the use of these words offends you, Do Not watch this video. And if you do end up watching this video...you have been warned and I don't want to hear about my use of foul language in the comments below. Thank you.

I've made this privacy screen, a yard tool organizer and a couple of mirrors...all for free! You have got to let me know if you end up find a pallet and creating something amazing.

Sewed simple black and white striped shade cloth top pocket to go over conduit. Used some hose clamps to clamp the conduit to the top rail of the narrow tellis pieces and Woo Hoo. I have a 35 foot privacy screen. Not total privacy but it feels so much more private when I am on the other side of it. I LOVE it. A couple sticks of coundite under 10.00. Nice that you can also plant another plant on the other side of the screen. It would have been cool to put some wheels underneath to move when ever you need it moved or to change the side whenever one side of plant needed more sun. You could also make a crate type box surrounding only the bottom of the screen to store some misc. items.

Hi Sheri, brand new viewer here, love your work and ideas. I had to share that another source of nice free wood is at Home Depot or Lowes, the packing wood they use. They have these really sturdy boards with a ridge down one side. No nails and Home Depot just throws them away if they do not reuse them. I go in, scope out what I can find and then ask a friendly associate if it is okay for me to take them with me. Figure I would share the idea, I'm always on the hunt for free wood to use and ideas like this privacy screen. Love it.

Love the new privacy sceen. I need one for my garden to block my nosy child neighbours with their balls that keep coming over the fence. Q: What is the cheapest way to make a long 10 foot wide fence, higher (ie 5ft to 6ft)? Thanks.

Jackie Ruffoni - Without seeing exactly what you are talking about and assuming that you already have the 10' wide fence in place (and you are not removing it to build a new fence)...it sounds to me like you might just need a topper to make your current fence taller. I would run over to your local home improvement store and purchase a 1/8-in x 48-in x 8-ft piece of Traditional Lattice for about $40. Cut the lattice in half lengthwise so you have two pieces that are 1/8-in x 24-in x 8-ft. Then grab some 1-in x 2-in wood and build a frame around your lattice for stability and then mount your framed lattice to the top of your fence. This will gain you 2' in height and cost around $50/$60. It should end up looking something like this: www.lowes.com/pd/Actual-5-708-ft-x-8-ft-Western-Red-Cedar-Lattice-Top-Wood-Fence-Panel/1000241459
Hope that helps...or at least gives you some inspiration :)

Lol so I’m on here looking for privacy from those “NOSEY NEIGHBORS” similar to your jungle gym climbing kids 😂😂 thank you for the tip. Definitely going to try this! 🥰

First time viewer. You are so funny, intelligent, and super talented. WOW Excellent job on the privacy screen. I wish you were my friend. I'm tired of my DIY projects looking way better in my head. The finished product usually looks like a child did it. I will be visiting again.

Karen Hurd - Thank you so much for saying so. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you took the time to, not only watch my video, but to comment on it. Not joking...one of the sweetest comment I have read all day. And believe me...most of my DIY ideas turn out way better in my head and half the time...I'm just like, "Just go with it...it's fine". Honestly, I think we are our own worst critics. While you think your DIY looks like a child did it, everybody else probably think it looks amazing.
