Holy smokes Alex I literally just got the same basic mower with a bad fuel leak in from my neighbor to fix but it’s a Toro Recycler with a Kohler lol It’s pretty awesome that a new carb is cheaper than a rebuild kit, great video man!
I hope this helps. Very simple swap on this type of kohler engine. I really appreciate your support on the channel. I’m planning on doing a video on the last Sears suburban that I bought. So many projects coming up I’m hoping people enjoy.
@@freedommowers420 sweet Alex! I do enjoy all your content my friend but I am partial to the Sears lol I just mowed the back yard with my Suburban tonight, what a treat!
I’ve come across a couple old two stroke ones from the 90’s and they can be a pain. This modern one seems like any other craftsman or husky. I’m just glad it was an easy fix. Thank you for continuing to stop by the channel.
Thank you. I needed to replace my carb but since the stupid stupid plastic parts had broken on the old one I didn't know how to reattach the linkages. There are no diagrams anywhere on the net or even in the Kohler service manual that show the linkages. Your video showed me how everything was originally hooked up and the job was a breeze after that. Thanks again for a nice job.
Thank you very much John. I’m happy it was just a quick swap to get it running. It needs some TLC and some servicing to get it all ready to go, but yea the HIPA carb worked great.
same here, but i have a filter, and no dirt. mine will start with a drop of gas on the air filter, runs fine. Smart Choke. So smart, it does not know it has to choke. How do I teach a lesson to the Smart-as-Choke?
Help! What is the part number? I just received one from Hipa that is supposed to fit my Koehler motor but it does not have that little metal arm that engages the choke. It’s not identical. I need what you have in the video. Thanks. Great video.
What’s the little boomerang shaped metal piece on top for mine fell off luckily it was sitting on top of the deck but I believe both the screws are missing 😅
Thank you Artie. Yes it was a one pull and go fix. I really thought this motor would have been tired after running dirt through it for who knows how long. Thank you as always for the support.
@@freedommowers420 that auto choke set up is unnecessarily complex and is subject to Rust and not wanting to open the choke or to keep the choke closed after it should be open or vice versa.
Nice and easy carb swap Alex. No air filter will surely ruin a nice engine. I like that Kohler engine. When right they usally fire in one pull and have plenty of power! You wont have any trouble selling that machine.✌🇺🇸Roger
Thank you Roger. I should have spent more time on this machine in the video to show start to finish. I have a few machines coming up that I’m going to just do a whole start to finish. I’ve had pretty good luck with these kohlers. Seem to be pretty stout.
Yes it was running pretty high. Whoever owned this machine didn’t take very good care of it. I just wanted to show the carb replacement in this video, but yes it needed governor adjustment as well as a few more things to keep it running for a bit longer.
It makes it easy to change, I agree with you Alex people shouldn’t run their mower without an air filter. I was disappointed that you didn’t bother to wash the dirt off the box caver and filter cover while they where off, an easy task even if you had done it off camera before re-fitting. Sorry Alex, but your showing others that you can put it back on without cleaning the dirt off the covers. Perhaps you may just give the old carburettor a quick clean for a spare.😀👍
Your absolutely right Rick. I most certainly should have showed blowing out that air filter housing I did it off camera but should have made it clear to get it as clean as possible before installing it and the air filter. I will probably get the old carb cleaned up and ready for a spare. Thank you for the support and advice.
Strange thing is that those mowers are hard to find and they got bought by Toro you wiil be in the classic market when a lawn boy 2 cycle comes into your shop be safe out there ALEX

Great vid 💯 it’s so intermediating when any equipment goes out, we all need basic small engine knowledge
I’m hoping my videos help people out with their repairs, or at least point them in the right direction. Thank you for stopping by.

keep up with the solid info ✂️💯
Nice brother. Hipa came to the rescue on this one. Even without the air fliter still sounded good the engine 👍🔧

I think it’s a linkage from the throttle to the choke.
Wow Alex luckily that dirt didn't harm the piston rings etc. Another Hipa winner. Good job and I hope all is well by you! 🔧👍

How's she goin'? A quick and clean change out and you're all set to go!! Take care!!!
Thank you. I’m hoping this video helps someone out there with the carb change. This one was was pretty simple to change.
I have that exact mower and need to change out the carb. Do you have a part number for the replacement carb or amazon link ?
Do you have a part # for the carburetor and can you tell me the website you oder the carburetor. I need that exact carburetor.
Can you tell me the part # on the carburetor. I went to the Hipa website but need the part #, to order that same exact carburetor.
Looks like it had sucked in plenty of dirt, I'm glad you could get it running Alex.
Nice video brother. 👍
I’m surprised the rings weren’t worn out from the dirt intake. Thank you as always John.
I was too bud and anytime.
Good job. I hate those Kohlers
I have only worked on a handful of them but haven’t had too many issues. A lot of the more modern kohlers have not been very good though.
