Ha...you have such a great channel. I love lawn mowers for some odd reason and i enjoy watching them serviced and repaired. You do such an excellent job on both ur channels. Great job!!
I would’ve taken that nice Tecumseh engine off, saved the wheels, blade and rear gearbox and some other hardware then scrapped the deck. A compromised deck like that is not safe to use and should be taken out of service. I’d look for another Lawnboy or Toro deck in good shape to put that engine on. These were great mowers and they generally last a good long time but when grass is left stuck to the deck this is what happens. Great video, thanks!
@@mjg263 We used to go to small towns in my area, drive up & down the alleys to look for old lawn mowers setting in tall weeds behind people's houses. When we found one, we would go to the front door of the house & ask the homeowner if they would like to sell their old mower. Many forget that they had an old lawn mower in their backyard! Anyway, we'd offer them $3.00-$5.00 for the mower & they were happy that someone took it off their hands. I thought this was a lot of fun. But you don't see too many old lawn mowers setting in people's backyards nowadays.
@@IPullingTractor nope, the recycling laws changed around here so you can’t leave them at the curb anymore and they won’t let you take an old carcass from the recyclers yard. I’ll bet all those old junkers on Craigslist are from the guys who work at the recycling drop off center!

You might be able to find one of these in the scrap yard and use it’s deck, or you could at least salvage the engine and swap it with a mower that has a blown engine. This engine seems to be well taken care of and it still has plenty of life in it
Have you removed the blade driver assembly from one these lawnboys or a toro? Any good tips or tricks removing without beating on it? Great work, I recently got a Lawn Boy for free, it has the older style deck with the offset front wheel but is powered by a 4 stroke Tecumseh engine and is rear wheel drive self propelled. All of the accessories were with it too, the side discharge plate, bagging plate, mulching plate which is already installed on the mower, 2 original bags and the hangers for the bags. The engine already ran and the mower is in good shape, all I had to do was replace the self-propelled cable because it was broken. It's amazing what people give away, keep up the great work!

dang, why?
cool I guess 25 or 30 years old
Won't start after replacing air filter
take the filter off, and then try it, tell me what happens
how old is this mower
I would guess 15 years old maybe
I love to watch youtube
me too, it's my pass time.
Throw the lawn boy in the trash they are junk lawn mowers I used to have one I found it in somebody's trash long time ago it ran good for a little while then died and I said trash you go
I understand how you feel. They went out of style a Long time ago.
Back in the 90s and early 2000s, when some of us were still mowing lawns, we didn’t make videos when our lawnmowers were not working to get attention. We just fixed them and mowed our lawns.
I was there too.
That deck is in horrible shape. I wouldnt use it to mow.
I agree with you on that
That machine is a pos. Will run really nice for about 10 minutes. Then dies and won't start again til like tomorrow
crap the fuel cap and see if it does the same thing.
