- Episode 21: Cutler Point and Red Hollow Slot Canyon // Unbelievable Beauty in Kanab, UT
Join us on two un-planned adventures in Utah! When we realized we were only one town away from our friends Ron & Claudia we met up and they graciously took us one of their favorite spots. Since moving to Kanab, Ron has been hosting guided jeep tours of the area and Claudia has opened an art studio called Kanab Create. We hopped in the jeep and drove to Cutler Point, a beautiful sandstone mountain carved out with a giant sand dune inside. We had an unbelievable time on our trip out there and at dinner.
The last day we had in Orderville, we took the recommendation of our AirBnB host Dixie again to find the Red Hollow Slot Canyon. A short drive from where we stayed and less than a mile hike in. What an unexpected surprise! I didn't know what a slot canyon was until we arrived. How dramatic and amazing it was - we hiked and climbed as far as we could go through the narrow winding canyon. One point we had to climb up by a rope - I still can't believe I made it! This is not a national park so you just hike on in. If you're ever in Orderville, definitely check it out!!

This is crazy different than anything I’ve ever seen! So once you rope shimmy up you gotta shimmy down. My shimmy days may be behind me! I can enjoy vicariously through this amazing video. 🙀😻
Both of the spots were so uniquely different!! We were so thankful to enjoy both places.
Omg soo Beautiful, thanks for sharing
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing video and now I am almost excited to go to Red Cannyon, but that way up... hummm... not really sure! ;) It was so great having you two with us here even if for just a few hours. Come back and we can go in more adventures together!!! :)
Claudia, thank you so so much!!! You and Ron are the BEST! I hope we can swing back by and spend more time with you guys. Thanks again🌄
@@JustAdrift yes, we need to take you guys to White Pockets and our baby slot canyon Peak-a-Boo! :)
We took our Nissan Roque to Cutler point, it wasn't as bad what others say. But we also have sand experience, since we do a lot of sand dunes rides.
That's amazing you got the username "adventurous"! Is the Roque AWD? Did you deflate the tires at all. Thanks for the comment!
Hi Mason and Shelley! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us :) It's incredible that you were able to make it to Cutler Point! The textures of the cave walls are beautiful! Had a quick question for you - was the entrance of the cave on the west side or the east side?
Hey! Thanks for checking out the video. I believe that the opening of the cave was on the southwest side. The reason I say that is because I remember where the sun was setting that day, not because I remember it on a map just to clarify. I hope that helps, and I hope I'm not wrong. Have a good one!
Cool Story: On my way to the Red Hollow Slot Canyon my rental car got stuck in sand. I had to hike into Orderville to get a tow. The guy that pulled me out and said it was FREE, would NOT take my money. Then he drove me closer to the canyon entrance in his tow jeep. Great Memory of amazing people!
Hey Jax! Thanks for sharing the story. Always great to hear there are kind people that will go out of their way just to be nice. Now you have to pay it forward! Thanks again.
Looks Amazing! Thanks for sharing your adventure. How do we schedule a tour with Ron?
Thanks for watching. We don't think Ron is giving tours anymore. However, there are lots of tour companies that will. Sorry we can't be more help.
Wow - amazing! Thank you for sharing this!
Any chance you could share where Cutler Point is? Trying to find it on Google Earth :)
Here you go my friend! 37.193389546455315, -112.45632595900705 This is the location but it's not easy to find the cave from Google Maps, hopefully Google Earth will be better. It is near Kanab Utah. You take Johnson Canyon Rd to get to Hog Canyon OHV Trail system. Let me know if that helped or not!
@@JustAdrift Hi guys, your video is really cool! but to visit Culter Point, I ve to take Johnson Canyon Rd and turn at 37.14360136, -112.3940516 until where?
It's on alltrails
@@cristinazanini5217 kanab canyon rd is really easy, we even took our Nissan Roque it did okay.
The road to cutler then is pretty easy as long as you have awd and high clearance ?
There are some hairy spots that we had to have some speed to go through. Mostly short lengths of soft sand. A think you could do it with AWD, but high clearance is always a plus.
I agree, I like how people advertise as hard less people is better. But our Nissan Roque did fantastic
