I like this version of this Aussie classic, but no matter who does a cover it always reminds us of that unique magic in original Easybeats performances that no one else can replicate.
I’ve just learned the song on guitar after never attempting it because of that reason, just for fun. And now that I know how to play it I know I could never play it live. It’s the Easybeats. 🙌
There is nothing absolutely nothing like the original versión. All the universe came to stop the moment The Easybeats produced this track. The Planets the Galaxies and the Universes decided to line up in harmony. Even today is overwhelmingly superior to most of anything before or after.
Bruce is paying tribute to rock icons of the country hosting. A polite and respectful guest. He gets the Australian ethos and rock character. Thanks Boss
Singing this song, Bruce introduces it to many young people who have never heard it before. I can appreciate that. He does OK but sounds strained and angry. The original song sung by the Easybeats was released in 1967 (?). The lead singer of the Easybeats , Stevie Wright sang this song with excitement and happiness! I watched another youtube video of Stevie Wright singing " Friday on My Mind " at a club in the U.S (1987). He still rocked it! Be at peace Stevie.💙
isn't that a great thing though? For me great songs are often up for interpretation... and Bruce chose an angry/passionate/raw approach here and i absolutely love it. The more versions of this song exist the merrier. I'm pretty young and i didn't know this song and only checked it out because Bruce covered it and i really appreciated that
Bruce giving ode to the Easybeats in Australia!!!!!!! Was just listening to the Easybeats version and saw Bruce sang this in Australia.......Atta Boy Bruce!!!!! Very Kind!!!!!!
Underrated working class song... Thanks for making us ear the understatements of this 60's beautiful piece, which is also a love song. Mostly, bad comments are misunderstanding his intention (not unusual for B. Springsteen...)
The E Streeters and Bruce are a human jukebox. Their collective love of classic pop, rock and soul runs so deep that they can play anything upon request. Combine all that with Bruce's outstanding original material, and these guys are a true American musical treasure. Never has been a better rock and roll band in concert and probably never will be.
I think Bruce, Steve and the band did a fine job...(showing good musical taste too) Anything that helps to popularize this classic slice of my youth is alright in my book
I grew up listening to the Easybeats as a kid in 1980s and 1990s New York City. Now that my grandmother has been gone for msny years, it brings back those days listening to this song while visiting her in her Brooklyn apartment building.
Thanks for your reminiscences. Half a world away, at the same time a pre-teen girl in Australia was feeling it too. I'm a grandmother now, but I still love the hits of the 60s and the happier times it evokes. ❤
Well if this turns the rest of the world onto this classic Oz Rock song I say, okay, the jobs done. George Young and Harry Vanda wrote this masterpiece - thanks so much guys!
Cool that Bruce would even think of covering this masterpiece. Yes, as noted below, he does sound more angry than the original joyful, but then again working all week for a drag job is one of the things he sings about. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyable.
Classic rock covered by bruce. For those who don't like it Bruce Springsteen wouldn't be who he was without classic rock he followed as a kid. This is arguably one of the most popular songs of that Era in the 60s.
Just leave it to crowd Bruce. I was at Big Daddys Disco Rundle street in1966 the place was full of psychedelic flashing lights turn the music stopped and the compare Hollows out ladies and gentlemen boys and girls I present to you The Easybeats what an incredible experience
I've been wearing this tune out lately. Can't get enough of it. I like the way Bruce puts some angst into it. Tremendous 60's pop song by a very underrated band the Easybeats (at least here in the USA).
rjplamf61 Bruce made it a punk rock song, which we've never heard it done like before and it's incredibly done as always by the greatest cover band ever.
Bruce is always trying new things and plays for his audience. H e did this cover at Hope estate as well, loved it good on you Bruce and come back again.
Just don't understand the negative comments. This is a great cover sung in Sydney where the Easybeats come from. Sung with great passion and attitude - what else can you expect from Bruce.
The Boss takes a song and makes his own version. He does'nt take the the song to a new technical level but he makes the song "his own" filled with a blend of redemption and passion. He really moves me with this version and I feel very stimulated. It kind of made the song new to me and I thank you Bruce. This is PASSION and PERFORMANCE
I picked this on Backstreets the week before "Friday on My Mind should have been covered by now at some stage of his career post Castiles..." was someone listening? Blew my mind to be honest - thanks for releasing the official vid!
Gotta name check him again: Gary!!! Great to see you...especially up in the front line! You non-bassists out there don't get it. I started out on bass.....back in the second line where the baritone sax and trombone guys lived. Getting up front to lead one was just heavenly.... Thanks, Boss! Thanks to the mighty "Es"!!!!!
One of my all time favorite songs. Thanks y'all. I saw you at Carter Barron Amphitheater in about 1974? Most amazing concert. The rain almost cancelled it....
Best band:( thank you Max! Thank you Gary...) Tremendous song ( including a subtle, weird transition to the chorus......some odd stuff deep in there....) Slightly tricky! Thanks!!!
great cover solid track an solid rock n roll music an very powerful vocal .. seriously going 4 it here . steves dream come true? ''LONG TIME COMING'' but it was worth the wait
The Easybeats "Friday On My Mind" was one of the first 45s I bought. Another was the Hollies "Look Through Any Window". I still love them both, and only during the pandemic did I learn to play them. Better late than never...
The Greatest Rock n Roll Band of all time...is now confirmed as the Greatest Rock n Roll "Cover" band EVER! Florida here I come - "Going to have fun in the City...I'll be with my girl she's so Pretty"....
What a great version of this song, full of energy and rock and roll. Get the best Bluetooth Headphones money can can by, go to the gym and this recording will kick-start any workout. I think this recording is nothing less than brilliant.
and to then go in to Out In The Street - which was his own version of Friday on My Mind - which even includes that phrase in the first verse.. genius really..
I like this version of this Aussie classic, but no matter who does a cover it always reminds us of that unique magic in original Easybeats performances that no one else can replicate.
yep im a proud aussie boy
that stevie right n easybeats bit sad in end
but that was good
i love springsteen tho
Agreed. Nothing beats original easybeats. for example the song "Pretty Girl" can't believe it wasn't a hit. :-(
I’ve just learned the song on guitar after never attempting it because of that reason, just for fun. And now that I know how to play it I know I could never play it live. It’s the Easybeats. 🙌

I agree that he sounds strained. Shame.
Bruce always seemed strained. That's his thing.
Stevie Wright made this song fun.
isn't that a great thing though? For me great songs are often up for interpretation... and Bruce chose an angry/passionate/raw approach here and i absolutely love it. The more versions of this song exist the merrier. I'm pretty young and i didn't know this song and only checked it out because Bruce covered it and i really appreciated that
He did his way instead of covering the song the same as the Easybeats. Great version of a great song
It was 1966. Stevie Wright was still a teenager. Awesome!!!
this is Bruce showing his respect and admiration to the easy beats. respect to the boss.
Bruce giving ode to the Easybeats in Australia!!!!!!! Was just listening to the Easybeats version and saw Bruce sang this in Australia.......Atta Boy Bruce!!!!! Very Kind!!!!!!
A legend performs a rock classic by a legendary Aussie rock band, how great!
This is why "The Boss" is loved all over the world. He`s "one of us".

Brilliant tribute to our Stevie. xx

This song is timeless...works in any generation...and this is a great performance of the song.

Teenage anthem one of the best songs ever The Easybeats can only be compared to the Beatles Thanks for paying tribute Bruce love you
my fav song ever!
It’s more comparable to the Stones than the Beatles.
I think it's a poor idea to compare them to The Beatles but yes, great band.
What a respectul version of the original. Thank you.
I used to hear this in the old paste records when I was eighteen, realy it makes me cry, thank you Bruce
Bruce did a good job on this, a rare treat. Cool of them to even try it. Peace, M.A.

This man is INCREDIBLE. Come back in Italy soon!!!
What a voice when he is saying mind.
How can one man have so many great songs???
This classic song was included in Richard Thompson's 1000 years of Popular Music collection and the live version he does is quite brilliant.
Absolutely brilliant superb version" live raw crisp sharp mean, he should of released as a single, its brilliant
Possibly Best Version Ever. Wow.
I'd forgotten about this song. Bruce does it well.
+Gene Ferguson You must have really forgotten this song if his version sounds good.
+Batters Box Just watched em back to back....it's a pretty good version....maybe you should calm down and let it go.
A tribute to Stevie. God bless him.
I would say it was more of a tribute to George Young and Harry Vanda, considering they wrote “Friday On My Mind”!
Very nice, thanks for sharing this.

Bruce 🎵🎸
Thanks Khaled, I knew the song, but not from Bruce Springsteen! I loose my head .. friday in my mind ;-)) 03.05.18
You nailed it Boss. Great cover indeed!
Nice one, Bruce!
Really great!!!
RIP George Young ... Make of the paradise, a big concert in the ACDC which tears its race
Song meant as much to Bruce (as a kid) as it did for the
rest of us.
I agree with Bill. This was one of the best tumes/beat ever. This recording and the Austrian girl band -the MonaLisa Twins recording are outstanding.
