I never felt that KD was going anywhere because Brooklyn was asking for too much in return. Allegedly, Brooklyn wanted multiple first round picks, multiple pick swaps, and at minimum, 2 All-Star level players under the age of 25. No one was giving all of that up.

Requesting a trade should cost 30% of the player’s contract and that money should be added to the teams salary cap for the remaining years

Here's what I am sick of...
1.) The sheer narcissism of Kyrie Irving. This is blatant narcissism and everyone once again excused him. Kyrie was the reason why the Nets fell off as bad as they did, and oh spoiler alert. He still can't go into Canada.
2.) I am tired of the narrative of Rudy Gobert ruined the league with the Minnesota/Utah trade. A lot of you (fans) don't even like Rudy Gobert so it's easy to pick on Rudy. Also, Minnesota never traded anyone outside of their offensive core, so they had to trade salary dump and various role players and draft picks to get him. Especially when smaller markets don't ever get big free agents at all.
The fact that Brooklyn didn't want DeAndre Ayton, Tyler Herro or Jaylen Brown was on the Nets... Jaylen Brown was an all star and is seven years younger than Durant with no significant injuries.
3.) I am tired of Kevin Durant. I don't think he's a narcissist like his best friend, but I think he's so quick to defend Kyrie, he blamed the coaching staff, blamed the GM, when they were at the mercy of KD.
4.) I am tired of the Nets. They aren't victims by any means. You almost put yourselves in a situation that you did ten years prior. Quit trading assets for short term gain... also, quit coddling Kyrie, that costed you all a potential NBA Finals appearance.
Agree with all 4 except partially 3. Durant's behavior has indeed been annoying, but at least when he plays, he PLAYS. You are right, though, that he has hitched his behavior wagon to the wrong person in Kyrie. It's a bad influence on him.
Did they have another choice? No team wanted to give up their young talent for aging drama…They never had any intentions to trade him anyway. That's why the asking price was so high

Nothing is going to change this season for the Nets. Kyrie will probably miss half the games for refusing to get the Monkeypox vaccine, after a sub-500 record going into the all-star break KD will once again request a trade, and Ben Simons will just sit out for no reason at all (again).

The Nets got rid of Jarred Allen, Dinwindie, D-Lo, Lavert and Coacj Atkins to get KD and Kyrie to Brooklyn. The Nets were in rebuild mode before KD and Kyrie came, and They were alerady a playoff team then. Fast forward 2022, it looks like the nets went to wallmart and bought themselves some sledge hammers to get a terrible headache that will wreck the team for the coming seasons after they got rid of Coach Atkins and his crew of young skilled talented players whom they got rid of because KD and Kyrie didnt want em all in the team. Truly and unfortunate scenario for the Nets. Imagine what they could be today if they added a few more talent to that team that Coach Atkins had before this two players kyrie and KD came. They could be a conference finals team already , BUT unfortunately, they have 3 players with prima dona attitudes who think they can hold the team owner hostage , and they had been brought back down to earth !!!!

problem is Kyrie shows up and plays and has all these 'ideas' about the organization/his team/the media which he cannot stop himself from voicing. hopefully he learns how to be a teammate and understand as a leader his conduct reflects the organization. he needs to support the younger players better. how he handled himself in Cleveland/Boston/Brooklyn was disappointing to witness. Kevin Durant's valuation spiked tremendously after the Gobert trade. Brooklyn wanted teams to give up their entire franchise for KD. Business is a cold game and KD had no chance.

This really was a NID outcome. No team was going to part with young talent and draft picks for an oft-injured soon to be 34-year-old player. Especially with a 4 year contract about to kick in. And Brooklyn, rightly so, wasn't just give him up in a deal that didn't equate to the value of KD. That's why they wanted so much in return for a trade.
Finish out that contract KD. Try to make your team better to win a title. You were the one that put it together after all. You made your bed. Time to lie in it.
