I’ve seen a lot of people comment about his 18/7/7. I really think some people still don’t understand how much the league has REALLY figured out how much efficiency matters over volume. There were definitely past eras where guys who could get you numners, but on poor efficiency, were still super valuable. That simply is not the case today. If you haven’t noticed, whenever almost ANY of these young skilled dudes in the league today get a chance to get minutes and put up shots, they can ALL score in volume and at least decent efficiency. It’s just part of how the game has changed. Low efficiency volume scorers could still exist in the game today if they found other ways to have HUGE impact. Or take Marcus smart for example. He’s been able to become a bit more efficient, but still inefficient overall, but he’s ELITE on defense, he provides very solid secondary playmaking, good leadership, INSANE hustle, and he’s even made sure to try and cut down on the bad shots that hurt his efficiency even worse. That is somerhing Russ could do, but if he doesn’t? Then no, 18/7/7 will NOT be seen as a good season, or even a plus player, if he is the worst 3 poont shooter in the league, gives terrible effort and discipline on D, and turns the ball over 3.5 times or so per game. That just does NOT produce any value in the league today, less than it ever has. Baaskebralk is so complex, but it’s also simple. You need chemistry and intangibles, but simply put: the more points you score per Possession, the better your chance of winning. So you could theoretically have a guy post 34/11/8 but with 9 turnovers and 33 percent FG and that’s a negative impact player

But he was really a second option with AD not playing as many games. But the point is accountability and he could have been better plus they didn’t make the playoffs. @@andrewfine3570 That’s all of them. literally 99% of viewers watch these BECAUSE they want to hear players or teams or even the sport get called out for different reasons. I’ll give you reasons why Russ will be better because SA was right about him being better. Their team just got much more athletic players and slashers such as Lonnie Walker, Troy Brown Jr, and Juan Anderson. That will allow Russ more players to be able to pass to on cuts and help with fast breaks. Also Thomas Bryant is a solid center and MUCH better than any big LA had last year outside of AD. Russ has more options to facilitate too since he will be one of the primary ball handlers on the team. Also as I mentioned, he had many uncharacteristic missed layups which over his career he has made with a decent level of consistency. Yes he will still be turnover prone and a poor shooter. But that’s who he always has been. Not to mention this will be his second year in LA which was his first time as a #3 option on a team in his career. Everything points to a better Russ.

LeBron wanted McGhee and Caruso back and Lakers FO/ownership said NOPE! He wanted Lowry at 2021 trade deadline and they said NOPE! He wanted DeRozan before Westbrook they didn’t make it happen. It’s not the players job EVER to make the final call. Sure run it by your best players, but it’s on you to know yr 14 awful fit Russ made zero sense on this team and getting rid of core outside of LeBron/AD from 2019-20 to 20-21 (both years very good to elite when healthy just not as healthy 20-21) was moronic especially with defensive minded coach in Vogel (give him old players that don’t fit).

Y'all must not really know basketball. First off, he's left open because he can't shoot hence his low fg% especially from 3 so he gets a few buckets there. Conversely, if he's left open guess where the man is who is supposed to be guarding Westbrook... doubling LeBron or AD. Let's not even talk about his poor FT shooting, turnovers, and awful defense. There are PLENTY of NBA players who if you give them the opportunities Westbrook has had would put up those kinda numbers but they understand that it's a TEAM sport so it's best for the TEAM that I play TEAM ball.
