The goal of the game is to put the basketball through the hoop and to stop the other team from scoring. Giannis does both very well. It's not figure skating where you get extra points for finesse.

@@benjamin-qn7nf Giannis is effective, not skilled. What he does takes no skill at all because he’s 6’11 240lbs of muscle bullying people in the paint. It works so he will continue to do that but it takes no skill. If you make him 6’3 or under, he wouldn’t be in the NBA. He just has god like genetics.
Just like Shaq. Shaq wasn’t skilled, he was just too big and too strong to physically stop in the paint.
Kareem’s the has the most points in NBA history because he learned to abuse the most skill less move ever known as the “Sky Hook”. At 7’2 ft tall with a 8 1/2 ft wingspan, no one who isn’t 8 ft tall is consistently physically capable of stopping that. It was overpowered because KAREEM’S GENETICS WERE GOD LIKE. Shrink Kareem to anything below 6’9 and he wouldn’t have been in the NBA. He literally had no other move than abusing the cheesy no skill post hook.

Gilbert doesn’t even know what “knowing the game” is. Steven A will latch on to anyone criticizing Giannis since he has been trying for years to disrespect Giannis himself.
“Knowing the game” has nothing to do with skills..ball handling or shooting or even Gilbert’s latest weird attempt at explaining that it is also knowing what to get away with. “Knowing the game” is knowing how to be efficient on offense..and with that it leads to better shots/less wasted possessions and also less wasted energy. It also means you understand how to involve ur teammates…when to..also knowing when to be more assertive yourself. It’s getting to the point you trust ur teammates in crucial moments and allow things to develop and come to you/ur team instead of forcing things/being impatient/hero ball.
So as Gilbert babbles on and then Stephen A gives credence to his points……tell me…what evidence did Gilbert show as a player that “he knew the game”?? He won NOTHING”. He had 3 seasons of scoring between 25-29ppg but his shooting percentages in those seasons and all the rest of his career were ATROCIOUS…mid 40s…low 40s..high 30s. He was known as a gunner and zero defense.
So Stephen A says well Gilbert isn’t totally wrong with his points because Gilbert knows the game LOL. His reason for saying that is because Gilbert had 3 seasons of scoring 25-29ppg 😂.
So Giannis has 5 seasons and running of scoring 25 or more ppg …plus does it efficiently…plus lead Milwaukee to a title….but he still doesn’t quite know the game but Gilbert does.
Both are ignorant to what Giannis does and what he knows. Anyone who tries to validate their points just shows they also don’t understand basketball.
Don’t say you know the game if you don’t even understand what the definition is.

So let me see if i got this right...
Gilbert Arenas, who is undoubtedly skilled and, according to him, "knows" the game of basketball has:
    1. Never been an All-NBA first teamer,
    2. Has less All-NBA and All-Star appearances than Giannis,
    3. Has a lesser career scoring average than Giannis despite scoring being his best skill,
    4. Only averaged less than an assist per game (career) more than Giannis despite being an actual point guard,
    5. Did not even sniff any defensive accolade whatsoever, and most importantly,
    6. Has not even experienced winning a playoff game outside of Round 1
In contrast, the Greek Freak who allegedly doesn't understand the game and therefore isn't great in basketball has:
    1. 6x All-star appearances and counting,
    2. 6x All-NBA selections (4 1st team) and counting,
    3. 5x All-defensive selections (4 1st team) and counting,
    4. 2x MVPs,
    5. 1x DPOY,
    6. 1x Finals MVP,
    7. Has a MOST IMPROVED Player of the Year, FFS,
    8. Averaged about 30/14/6 playing only 30mpg in 2020,
    9. Averaged 28/11/6 at 33mpg in 2021,
    10. Averaged 30/12/6 at 33mpg in 2022,
    11. Averaged 40mpg in the 2021 Finals literally a week after severely hyperextending his knee,
    12. Averaged 35 points in said Finals, again after literally suffering a potentially debilitating injury a week prior,
    13. Scored 50 freaking points to clinch the title, shooting 64% from the field and 17/19 from the line after haters, like oh say Gilbert Arenas, said he can't be trusted to make big shots in big games, and for good measure,
    14. Was selected to be on the 75th Anniversary team for what it's worth.

Everyone is so bitter and randomly tries to hate on Giannis. As a warriors fan I have no stake in this, but Giannis is the best player in the game and has been for the past 2-3 years in my eyes. His defensive IQ and will to win are elite.

The very essence of sports is based on being physically gifted. Gilbert's criticism would be more suited for a purely physical low IQ player like Westbrook. Giannis is not in that category.

    • @surblows
      @surblows 2 года назад

I disagree, because that's not a lack of understanding. It's simply that Giannis doesn't have the same skillset as LeBron, but he has other attributes that he utilizes to his advantage. Gilbert Arenas doesn't understand that Giannis isn't going to be doing all of those goofy tricks, because he doesn't have to. Yes, there's going to be a little more veteran savvy that comes with the years, but that's not particular to Giannis.

It honestly just comes down to the fact that, Giannis is dominating and still ain’t done. All the media can do now is knit pick.
