We heartily recommend this video. Although surely we're not a Bad Influence are we? Love your work gentleman.
Stop watching videos and get to work! i'm jonesing for some more Binky!
Bad Obsession Motorsport love you guys! Freakin awesome channel!!! Go Binky!
I think it may be a while before Binky goes anywhere...but it's fun watching it S-L-O-W-L-Y come together. These guys are quick, at least - but it's a whole different sort of build. So I watch both. :-)
Bad Obsession Motorsport fucking love you guys!
Have you Guys seen the Mighty car Mods mini swap???...love your work guys.
Haha, the Bad Obsession shout out was awesome. Project Binky is badass! I wish they updated as often as you guys though.
Binky is a MUCH more involved project, and perfection takes time. I find Bad Obsession's pace is an excellent lesson in tantric car building.
I totally understand why they take so long; I'm just being an impatient Interneter. The wait makes me so much more excited for each episode though. I snuck away from a gathering with my in-laws over Christmas to watch the last one they released.
Haha they have to spend 80 percent of the time planning for one part that's overly engineered in a perfect way
I love how all the youtube car shows reference each other. Should have used CAD to make your own brackets instead of buying them ;)
That would have required Bad Obsession levels of know-how, which we clearly lack. Haha.
Some say that he once walked to school uphill both ways, and that steam rises from him during mating season. All we know is he's called Moose.
lol at the bad obssession reference!!! those boys are amazeballs
just love the Project Binky inspired cup of tea
Perfect bad obsession motorsports Impression :D
You guys watch Project Binky
axle stands being used as axle stands..... and not crushing pinch welds
i so pumped for this episode bros
Rear susponsion lol good videos guys thanks for sharing 3:16
Love the "Bad Obsession Motorsport" touch ! :D
Always give these a thumbs up before I even make it past the ad haha.
Another amazing video! Loving the Celica Videos!
Great video as always guys. Where did you find a complete AE86 rear axle assembly?
Been a long time since I have seen a All Your Base reference :)
The trick to successful high-fives is to watch the other persons elbow. you'll rarely miss doing this, give it a shot.
unless you have a biscuit-cad'ed trunk latch, they cantve been too bad of an influence :D
Make the noise....
As soon as I heard cup of tea, I was like "I wonder if there's a new project Binky episode" haha
Hahaha just made my day with the bad obsession motorsports reference
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I LOVE CONNIE .
Do you remember what the AE86 axle measured from disk brake (contact flange with wheels) to disk brake on opposite side?
thanks for this guys!!!keep it up. Great information! useful tips and very interesting videos. once again thanks, also like to thank Xcessive Manufacturing for the parts being developed.
Will any of this work for my 1975 GT? I am having a very difficult time finding an AE86 GTS rear axel setup. Any suggestions? My axel bearing blew out from a pothole. I would rather do this swap then fix the bearings.
Moose would be a Ba-Da-Boom before Ba-Da-Bing kinda guy
Good luck finding a decently priced AE86 axle though. Would a KE70 work?
I've been a hobby fabricator, welder, and Pipefitter by trade.
Guards are used by professionals. Not just for safety,,, you can safely direct the debis in a safe manner.
In 33 years as a Pipefitter and Welder, I've never found a spot i couldn't get a grinder.
Don't encourage Moose. He's teaching kids to disregard their and others saftey.
WOOOO...BAD INFLUENCE! celicooper=BINKY!
PROJECT BINKY XD
I’m binge watching from the start of your Celica build. I’m just wondering what kind of horsepower can the new rear end hold?
Turning out great guys! Moose will never lose his "Man Card" with grinding skills like this! Love this car!
Is it the "E Chassis" diff brackets you used from Xcessive?
6 mins in and i immediately got the project binky reference!!!!
Tea & biscuits. Don't forget the Mini!!
Watched video to see the method you use to brace the axel during welding and straighten afterwards. Doesn't do either.😢
ima die hard YOTA fan always have been always will...
i don't know how you guys manage to work in that cold...damn!...i like the tea bit...i follow Bad Influence too!
Bad obsession Motorsports reference!!! Still waiting for an update on those videos.
This is not hate but a real question. Was there a IRS option for this car? And it seamed like you are adding a lot of weight to the rear axle are you concerned about it?
IRS didn't become an option in the Celica till 1983, but the IRS was a semi trailing arm setup, not really that great for performance, better for comfort. I think in 86 the IRS was a lot better as they switched to a transverse setup for FWD/AWD. I think the weight difference isn't that great and they are definitely lighter than most live axles, especially since this is I believe a 6.7" rear end.
any idea where to source an AE86 Rear end? ive been looking for ages in Craigslist and ebay.
Techno toy tuning makes way better weld on mounts... just for future reference..
you guys are funny gays! moose is a big sexy bear and you're his cub lover.
what about a ford explorer 8.8 rear end 1989 model u only need to cut from one side and it will be wider by one inch
Do you guy need any part I think they have one in the junk yard?????
You're doing tea wrong, you're supposed to have scones not biscuits
Cool video guys. This is going to be a fun car
Why not weld in some 2.5" adjustable spring perches?
An outstanding idea, as we'll prove in the next episode, but since we'll be converting the rear to full coilovers we didn't bother with the spring perches.
"Bad _Influence_ Motorsports"...? You're gonna blame Richard and Nik for this build??? LOL
Haha, nothing but love for the Bad Obsession chaps! We can only blame them for inspiration, both with respect to building cool cars and making outstanding dick jokes.
obviously you're gonna respray the car but are you gonna redo the underneath protection? I see some nude metal under there
Yessir, we're going to use Lizard Skin in places as a heat barrier and sound deadening, and we'll also use Line-X in the wheel wells and underside of the car for a super durable protective coating.
Damn straight Toyota power 💪🏼
I really like yall's videos and I think you guys deserve many more views that what you guys get. You guys are grounded, keep it honest and have well edited videos.
However, it is hard to follow you guys due to the order of how you guys put out videos. When I began watching you guys a few months ago I got lucky and just picked a playlist and let the videos roll. I ultimately caught up, but the order in which you guys put out updates on projects is frustrating to say the least. Instead of sticking with one or two projects there are 4 or 5 that we will get videos on, and sometimes go weeks without hearing from other projects. For example, I was really enjoying the Mustang Project but its been weeks since we've gotten any sort of update on it. Instead we've received updates on the S2000 (which are always good videos) this Celica build, and then some random cars track cars.
I realize that with a smaller youtube channel its hard to coordinate parts, time, and filming but ultimately posting weekly updates on certain projects keeps viewers engaged and more likely to return. I really like you guys and hope to see yall succeed.
thanks for the constructive feedback! We are working on ways to tighten things up and put out complete builds in sequence so that we don't leave viewers hanging. That was our intention with the Mustang but unfortunately we hit a bump in the road that has held us up for a few weeks now. It'll be back in the rotation shortly and wrapped up in the spring.
You guys are awesome. Best wishes!
no safety guard wtf...... ahhhhhhhhhhh
The hype for this has never been more real.
You almost had me at the "tea break". I started to say "Hey, copy...." then you gave a shout out...LOL...LOL Binky is amazing!!!
Awesome episode y'all. I had to become a patreon from this. You all are great!!!
Thanks for the support!
I did a similar swap on my 75 ra22.
I used a 71 8inch hilux differential with a Detroit Trutrac. I also used the excessive differental bracket kit.
Great choice! If we had plans to put more power through the rear end than the Beams will produce, an 8'' rear end would definitely have been our choice too.
Which bracket kit did you use for the ra22 from excessive? Also going a hilux diff in mine
Speedman, I also have a 1975 GT, could you possibly get in touch with me to help me out with any information on this? I would love to swap out my rear axel setup for lsd and disc breaks.
What welds did the guy get roasted about? In what video?
I totally knew where you were going as soon as you mentioned tea.
lol love the bad obsession spoof. so which one is Richard?
Fortune 500 shocks got a giggle out of me at the end.
should just do the swap with a ford 8.8 out of a mustang
Nice welds bud. I like it. :)
Why not go with a cut down 8.8? Too large?
I don't think the stock AE86 rear end will be strong enough for the BEAMS...most people run MA40 Supra rears as far as I know, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this :). One thing I can recommend is getting a TRD/Kaaz LSD for it.
I guess we'll find out how strong it is the old-fashion way...by trying to blow it up at the track. We'll definitely put a quality LSD in it.
I really am curious to see how well it holds up - got an A6 Celica (4A-GE swapped) with the same rear and was thinking about the BEAMS, but I'm afraid it'll kill the rear :( so I'm awaiting for the next videos :)
what size brackets for the ae86 axle?
Great video! very informative. for my ae86 I did a gm 7.625 swap using pretty much the same methods except I made a jig to swap everything over....
ae86 - sr5 to gts conversion
What car was your GM 7.625 swap from?
Love the bad obsession shoutout, love the project too.
Hard to find any old toyotas here in sweden (been looking for the exact same car) almost all of them are rusted out.
Make the noise. Oh wait it's not digital.
so many project binky references!
Do I see some front end goodies from t3? As always, great vid gents, that thing is really coming along nicely. Seam weld while still in shite paint?
Love this build! I also love the comedy you've been putting in the videos lately hahaha....👍👍
What were the measurements and degrees for the stock ra24 mounts? If you don’t mind me asking.
Needs more linishing!
All your base reference in 2017. You guys rock lol.
Glad somebody got it!
Project Binky reference is best reference.
Damn I really like watching Moose work. hes the man.
Why do you have an odd number of tires on the rack?
Well Dave is an odd guy :0
Love the bad obsession spot lol
hahaha, I lost my shit when you showed the waving queen XD
I love Toyota and Mazda's
hey, are you guys done with the mullet mustang?
Nope, just waiting on tuning software and then we'll be back with it!
not to be picky. but did you mean bad obsession motorsport not bad influence?
as in the home of project binky?
Just blaming them for the tea fixation, I reckon. :-D
aussiebloke609 makes sense.... t is key.
& McVitties...can't forget those digestives when you're fabricating latches... :-P
Lol...
what tube bender is behinded moose at 10:18? sir please
A shitty one. The guys at NV hate it lol.
Just out of curiosity did you guys consider a MKI Supra axle?
Ya, definitely considered it. If we could have found one, would have used it. Those are rarer than sasquatch riding a unicorn around here though, so we settled for an AE axle for now. Eventually I suspect we'll upgrade to either a beefier solid axle or convert it to IRS, but for now we'll get her up and running and ripping around the track with the AE axle and see how we like it.
Speed Academy Ah ok. I guess a lot more down here in CA. Was the AE86 rear end more than $350?
what is the name of the song
Are you going to be able to legally drive this car on the road after all these mods?
Yessir, as long as it passes a safety check, which it should easily do, we'll be all set.
David Pratte
Pretty mindblowing for an european guy like me; really envy the freedom you guys have when it comes to car/motor stuff in general
awsome, realy like this series. keep em coming please!
great video! good job!!
lol
really like the bad motorsports improve. Cheers to you guys and keep up with the awesome build.
Thanks!
Good work Moose.
Great video! Nice work!!
Moose rules!
what are those shoes !!!
If you mean Dave's, those are Blundstones.
Thanks
Haha, loved the tea-break :D
I like the "bad obsession motorsport " reference, I love binky . Would love to see a project like that, or perhaps a collab.
Some day we'll ship Connie to the UK and go rallying with the Bad Obsession dudes.
awesome, I will be waiting. Just like I have been for more binky haha
At least you guys post new content on an even basis.
Great

Why didn't you upgrade to an MKII Supra IRS?
We have thought about an IRS conversion. That may be part of the Celica 2.0 build, but first we want to get her running and rip some hot laps so the AE rear end is a good way to do that without too much fabrication required.
oh i see, awesome!
Or www.dorikaze.net/showthread.php?45045-RA24-Celica-Independent-Suspension-Conversion
Swapping to a MKII Supra IRS seems like a relatively waste of time, there are much better IRS setups out there. The MKII Supra IRS has a lot squat issues and is a semi-trailing arm setup, not really the best for performance.
