- This was another creation from infotainment company, Teeman / Sleppin Entertainment. Here Director: Stu Sleppin & Producer: Bob Teeman created & produced this music video remake of the Shirley Ellis song, The Name Game. They did this by creating the teen idol named Ken Gilcrest. The song was produced by Bill Heller. The Director of Photography of the music was Yuri Denysenko.
The song & music video tied into P&G's Crest promotion where kids were asked to vote for a new flavor of Crest toothpaste. Ken Gilcrest toured the country performing The Name Game & promoted the Crest Toothpaste campaign. The winning flavor? Bubblelicious. Развлечения
Oh boy, how I would love to have lived in america in 80s
You missed out!
It was terrifying. ...in a good way...
Let me put it like this, if you were a child, it was a great time, if you were an adult, there were many perils.
His voice, my god, his VOICE
Thank you Neil.
I was watching American Horror Story and then I got here... lol
Gabriellandon Unfortunately I did too!
Same
Same OMG
same😂😂
Same
When I was younger, I always saw this on the Disney channel.
I found it after all these, the magic of youtube rekindled my youth once again, thanks for uploading.
I'm sure teen idol Ken Gilcrest led a fruitful life after this
Behold the greatest video of our time
Ken Gilcrest...you dreamboat. Why did our paths never cross, my dear...
It's all fun and games until one of the students' names are either Chuck or Mitch
Right. Or Maggie or Tucker or Buck (like country singer Buck Owens) or Richie
Sad but true. The song isn't 100% perfect in that respect.
To the max, with Mad Sax!!
To whomever created/posted this:
My friends and I have been using this video to end/welcome in the new year every year for over a decade now and it seems we will continue to do so for eternity.
From all of us, thank you very much for this crazy fever dream that is now a core part of our annual rituals.
We pray one year that Tony will get it right.
~Much love from one group of strangers to another ❤
I would love to have him as my substitute teacher. 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Tony may not rhyme very well but the boy has got da moves! :)
David M, and he looks like Larry King.
I FINALLY FOUND IT! This was a piece of lost media I remember seeing on the Canadian family channel back in the 90s and I could never find it. For some reason, I remember the creature he transforms into at 4:02 as "Mac Tonight" so maybe that threw my search off, lol.
Who else watched the music video when it was on Disney Channel in the 1980s-1990s
The wink!! Aah that wink!!
I Love this song 😀😃
In 1987 I was 14 and in deep study of the lyrics of David Bowie so I must have missed this. But in 1982 I was still dance partners with Mario Lopez. If this has come out before then we would have likely had to study it to be ready for auditions.
First time I saw this it was on Nickelodeon. My sister thought it was a toothpaste commercial since he used toothpaste in so many letters.
SpikeLanta I think that was it's intent too. 😂
The Disney Channel got mileage out of this too!
I thought GilCREST was a made up name because I thought it was a very strange ad for Crest toothpaste.
I thought maybe I'd invented this or how ambiguous it was, but no...it was just typical 80s/90s weird
When did the snake / body roll I was like I'll dance with him anytime
lol We must make it our mission to find him. :)
Is this what it feels like to be on drugs?
Yes
sadface69100 crack is wack, acids are better.
@@hectorrivera2785
This man could be a preacher right here.
Damn! sub gots some moves!
I think I got pregnant when he did the snake.
Same
Hmmm, so that's what this was! Like so many, I had to see this show up on The Disney Channel during breaks as filler, wondering why the Crest design/motif was seen during the video since it seemed like they were being very obvious about it but I wasn't really sure since nobody was credited at all in this for a long time.
It's like some hypersoftened version of the 1980s rock/hair metal
Seriously! More smoldering than the cigarette scene in Now Voyager.
He is so lucky he's good-looking.
If they did this today, they'd have to include the "Life opens up when you do" tag near the end when Tony winks at us.
dat wink tho
IM TRIPPING BALLS
i cannot even
bo-ob ? boob ? OMG ahahahahaha XD this is more creepy than AHS version for me....
This is a fabulous spin-off version of THE NAME GAME by SHIRLEY ELLIS that was the rage in the 1960's. All the kids spoke this language, even myself, who has not been able to learn to speak any foreign language-- GO FIGGER!.
Me turning up to a party I specifically said I wasn’t going to
Or me when someone says “don’t come over here with that bullshit”
I fear for the safety of these kids...haha, how is it this has more of a creep vibe than AHS? Haha
I can feel my soul slipping through my perforated innards just watching this.
the Frankenstein at 04:14 looks like the eleven doctor of doctor who kkkkkkkkkkkkk
loll
It's 2021. When is TONY going to get it right? Baloney.
For my graduation day in 2020 I'm going to sing this song for graduation 😀😁😂😃
And the creature, who drove men mad with his very appearance, looked down upon him and said "Ken, what hubris has brought you to the realm of Nyarlathotep?" And the man replied "There isn't any name that I can't rhyme."
And that is how insanity itself was conquered.
Hahahahaha
Certainly something to reinforce whatever positive message one could take from the video I suppose.
Fuckin' perfect to me i love this
I always thought this was a fucking toothpaste commercial! For whatever reason, that damn name stuck with me all these years. I always remembered that damn name. Tonight, it just popped in my head and I typed it in, and lo and behold, this video comes up. I used to listen to shit on a friggin' loop! It's lame now, but in the early 90's, this was the shit!
I think this may have been to promote Crest rush to brush commercial.
There really was a toothpaste commercial that used the song, but I don't know if there's any connection to this vid.
it's better with Jessica Lange singing this music at American Horror Story 💜
Qui a filmé mon cours ?
+Msieur Le Prof on se demande bien, d'ailleurs je sais pas pourquoi tu rales tes élèves sont super bon en anglais
+Msieur Le Prof C'est vrai qu'ils ont l'air cool !
Love those cool side-ponies on all the girls.
That fucking kid winking at the end holy shit
Oh Christ I actually saw this on TV hahaha
Outstanding
I forgot to put a comma next to "e"
And I forgot to put the "outer" probably next to the "space".
I wont be able to sleep
Thanks, Neil! I needed that.
Please let this be a normal field trip
Totalmente!!!
Now whit Duck or Chuck. Hahahaa I want to hear it
true talk: towards the end of the video i thought how i got to learn how to do this to impress my friends. then i remembered that i'm an adult. and "cool" is making 80k>, having a big house and a hot slice to share it with. being a girl i need to be married and have 2.5 children, all honor students.

Do you know what Ken Gilcrest is up to these days?
Spotify have this song?
'Let's do Cherry.'
American Horror story took me here :)
Idk what I just watched but I kinda like it LOL
part of the 80s that will burn your brain.😵😲
My teacher showed this song to my class 😂
Is this the origin of this song?
Forget John Galt, who is Ken Gilcrest?
Ok, when Frankenstein appeared I knew they had taken it too far. LOL
Wish he was my sub English teacher in 7th grade
Mary got played by Tiffany Robbins.
Whatever happened to Ken Gilcrest?
2:33 SO REAL
Bom!
2022 anyone lol 😂
BO-OB...yep..
10 years later and still no clue as to who Ken Gilcrest actually was and what he looks like now
Rhyme is a gate way drug.
0:49 The song starts here
poor Jason ! anyway , this is more easiest to learn :P
my teacher had this on in homeroom one day just before i had fallen in love :0
"BANANA-FAN"@02:47.
Like me who did see this one back then.
@Pikajane No, the song is much older than this. Shirley Ellis made the tune famous back in the 60's.
I have a feeling Fason might be fay
When Asylum meets 1984
My type of school.

I thought The Walrus was Paul McCartney. It's really Ken Gilcrest??!! Oh yeah, I forgot, Paul died in 1966....
Joseph Di Lorenzo, he didn't!
@@shutterbug_713 He could be referring to the "Paul is Dead" rumor in 1966-67
Well, @@AndrewsMagicandMore, that wuz B4 me time. 🙂
Was Frankenstein played by Matt Smith? It looked like Matt Smith.
