That's with horrendous marketing by NHL owners and Gary Bettman. If you are a sports talk show you should be talking about a sport as prominent as hockey.

@@mr.brenman2132although Bettman did help hockey grow. Before Bettman, there was John Ziegler in the 1970’s and 1980’s mostly. The NHL did not even have a national television network contract. I remember watching the Stanley Cup champion finals in 1989 when the Calgary Flames won and even in 1991 when the Pittsburgh Penguins won on Sportschannel America which was a cable network. Gary Bettman at least able to get the NHL on national tv in prime time especially for the playoffs. But I agree the NHL still needs to market the players better.

Must be sad that everyone only cares about your playoffs. lol, too long of a season… same reason why people don’t like baseball. Not to mention the 2 20 minute breaks in the middle of the game. The most popular sport in this country plays 17 games a season, which makes every game matter. On top of it all, most of the kids that get drafted in the NHL are people that most Americans have never even heard of. It’s not everyone else’s fault that your sport isn’t popular with most Americans.

Miami joins a rather exclusive club with this Stanley Cuo win: they join the list of cities who have won major championships in all of the four major men’s team sports.
It’s a short list, too: Boston, Chicago, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington, and now Miami - with an honourable mention to Toronto who has the most Grey Cup victories in the Canadian Football League’s history. Those stories would make a great book considering some of the superstars in all major sports who played on all those teams.

Man, for as little as (all) the 'usual' sports talk shows (looking at you, FS1, in particular) talk about one of the most exciting sports in the world, but go on and on and on about 🏀 (one that, IMO, is one of the most boring) and somehow want to compare it to football, when _obviously_ it is way more like hockey (minus the net minder, of course) is... well it just shows a frustrating level of ignorance, bias, and indifference.
I knew Eisen & co. would pay respect to the game and its championship.
But even still, for the past two + months (again, on all the usuals) 97% basketball playoffs and _MAYBE_ 3% on the NHL playoffs; which, again (IMO)... so much more exciting.
    Thanks again for covering
    - all the bases. 😅

Tampa resident and Lightning fan. Never thought I'd root for Florida. Never. But, when it got to the finals, I'd rather see a team who's never got a cup. So, now that they do. I'll never root for Florida again. Unless they face Boston. I may have Florida, but compared to Boston. Saints.
And crazy that Tampa and Panthers have been in the finals 5 years in a row now. I think it's 5. The 2 Tampa cup wins then losing the 3rd. And now Florida loosing and now winning.

Exactly. Calling a team a laughing stock just because they weren’t in the playoffs is just stupid. I love the leafs but look at them they are sometimes a playoff team but they always get first rounded by Boston, they should be the laughingstock not us.

Hockey had the only postseason I enjoyed watching this year.
The NBA was absolutely terrible and boring, and the NFL felt almost scripted. People out there like to say both leagues are rigged, and the way the refs influenced games this year in Basketball and Football.... Can't say I blame them.
Congrats to the Panthers, that was a hell of playoffs, a hell of a run, and a hell of a Final series against a great Edmonton team. They were the best team from start to finish and they absolutely deserved it.

nfl was depressing started off so promising with the lions beating the chiefs week 1. The chiefs had their "worst" regular season of the mahomes era, there were a whole bunch of teams in the playoffs that haven't won a superbowl (lions, bills, browns, texans) as well as a few that havent'won in a while. And then the superbowl ended up being a repeat of a few years ago with the chiefs beating the 49ers and officially becoming the new patriots
