Amazing finals...Congratulations to the Florida Panthers! I'm happy players like Barkov, Tarasenko, Ekman-Larsson, Ekblad, Okposo, Kulikov, and Bobrovsky all got their Cup. Props to Tkatchuk, Bennett, Verhaeghe, Lundell, Rodrigues, Forsling, Montour and the rest of the panthers roster. McDavid and Draisaitl will be denied their cup this year...but I expect them to come back and complete what they started in the years to come. Like the other 2 great ones in Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby, McDavid and the Oilers will be back and better and win their cup. The journey to the cup will be tough but with the Oilers experience this Finals and possible free agents to help bolster the roster, I'm really looking forward to this Oilers team next year!
@@abtdpx3818 Forsling made the huge defensive play in front of the Florida net when McDavid had a massive opportunity to tie the game right there....I honestly believe McDavid would have scored the tying goal if Forsling doesn't get there to prevent the scoring play from happening....that was probably the Oilers' best chance in the 3rd to at least tie the game & maybe get that last push late in regulation. Oilers had a whole host of chances in that 3rd period, but the Panthers, as they've done for the better part of two playoff seasons, protected the lead they had in the 3rd period. That late 2nd-period goal from Reinhart was just what the Panthers needed, giving them the lead after 40 minutes, & they rarely ever lose when leading after 40 minutes the past couple of seasons & they did just that once again in the 3rd period of Game 7. Heck of a series as it turned out between two really good teams.

Sadly no. Last Canadian team Canucks made finals then took 2 decades to make another final only to lose again. Same with Oilers makes finals then 2 decades later they make finals again but lost today. The other teams Ottawa Montreal won't taste another final in a long time.

WHAT A GAME!!!! Neither team let up for one second, BOTH goalies played brilliantly. Exciting, fantastic hockey from start to finish, it's a shame someone had to lose. The Oilers can go home with their heads up, they lost, but they ALMOST got it, and made Florida earn it.
The Oilers' year was a season of extremes. They got their coach fired with bad play and also had a near record game winning streak within the same season. Down 0-3 in the Finals to getting within a goal to force OT in game seven. Manic depression?

This was a game I wish neither team would lose. Both would be absolutely heartbroken, especially with only one goal separating the two. I definitely predicted a high-scoring game after those quick first-period goals. Congrats to both teams for an exciting, competitive series.

The amount of minutes Barkov matched against McDavid, resulting in 0+0. In the end Barkov really took the team on his back and maybe did not lead them to the cup, but at least guided them and made way for Reinhart & co. Barkov deserved the Conn Smythe as much as McDavid. Both led their team into three awesome games and 3 poor games, and when it all mattered, Barkov did what he wanted to do, and McDavid what he could do.
Yes because breaking 5 nhl records in one year, single handedly putting a team on his back and having the best playoff performance since the great one is equivalent to a player that no one talked about prior to entering the playoffs and really didn’t put up great numbers even during the playoffs.

This has been one of the most anticipated, wild, and exhilarating Stanley Cup Final we’ve had in ages. And for the Oilers (including their fans), their hearts must’ve been shattered into a million pieces, because they’ve just came from a 3-0 deficit and forced a Game 7, only for the Panthers to ruin their night. Thus the Canadian Stanley Cup drought continues.
at the end of the day Florida in game 7 shut down Micdavid, Drysaitl, Nugent and Hyman. That's pretty impressive to keep the Oil to 1 goal in a game 7. Great series, loved every minute of it.

To be honest, I think Edmonton is better team in this series. Florida more about the goalie if he played well Florida won , if he didn’t they lost, that’s it. Everybody talked MacDavid, but Edmonton won 2games he didn’t score or no points? Edmonton just no luck at all, in game 3, I already think they played better and the sprite from down 3 to tie is phenomenal. but yeah you can’t win if you against god (luck) 😅

He's the best I've seen since the best I've seen (Great One) but even Gretzky had a great team around him in Edmonton with the likes of Messier and the rest. Without Bob the final ended in 4 games. He makes this victory happen, real Conn Smythe mvp 💪 two years for Florida Sergei try to win back-to-back, but Vegas was the machine beast last year. What a scenario in that playoff - great for all fans and future fans ❤️
Bob was undoubtedly the Smythe winner. McDavid was held scoreless in 3 of the 7 most important games of his life plus scoreless in both of his team's game 7's. Bob only let in one goal in each of his series deciding games and McDavid averaged only one point in his deciding games. Bob was there when it mattered most, McDavid not so much. I have a feeling that McDavid did not win the Hart or Lindsey and this is the consolation.

As a hockey fan from Canada, with a father who was born and raised in Edmonton, this is a tough loss. However, this was one of the most intensely fought game 7's we've witnessed in a decade, and full credit to Florida for pulling through against all odds, facing a reverse sweep! Congrats Florida on their first Stanley Cup! McDavid and co. will surely have their chance again! What a game, this will go down as one of the best Stanley Cup series for a while.
@@hoskins666 Games 1,2 and 3 were all really thight and Oilers had every change to beat Panthers in those. So yeah I am calling the series a coin flip. Maybe you can argue that game 4 wasn't a one but it was way thighter than 8-1 seems. The fact that Oilers made come back to Game 7 shows atleast me that all the games were thight. Otherwise team who is 3-0 down would not make the comeback.

Guys, can we show some humility no matter what type of fan we are? As a Canadian, I wished Edmonton would win and end the cup drought, but the Panthers were the better team tonight. Especially in the 3rd when Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were pushed beyond their limits by playing way more minutes than usual, they couldn't break through the Panthers' defense and Sergei Bobrovsky, and the Panthers did really well to shut down Edmonton's stars. I used to think that way. If a team came back from that much they'd probably win. But pro sports and hockey especially has changed. Just far too much luck involved and teams are psychologically a lot better than they used to be. I figured this game 7 was virtually 50/50. The Panthers would be totally embarrassed about dropping 3 straight so would play much better and the Oilers would not stop believing they had a chance. Oilers maybe had a slight mental edge going into the game but the first goal probably erased that feeling pretty quick. As a canuck fan I too am happy the Oil lost, but they definitely earned my respect with the 3 game comeback and with their game 6 and 7 wins against the canucks. Prior to that I thought they were frauds with no disciplined systems play. Somehow they found it, and at the right time. Lu hoisting the cup was awesome. So happy for him. Now hopefully this canucks core can do that for the twins.

Congrats to Panthers for a great fight. They were underdogs in this match too, but Bob played great game. McDavid deserved the Conns Smythe Trophy. Without him Oilers never been this far. They fought as a team in the end. They were the more dominant team in the series. But championships are often won by defending. Like Panthers did in this match. They did not loose any 3rd period out of 69 games in regular time this season. Four overtime losses only. Thats quite an achievement. Matias Järnmark was their best player in this game. He was close to score 2nd goal too. Close margins, one goal game. Credit also to Eetu Luostarinen 🇫🇮. He blocked shots and was a key player to kill Oiler's power play. Zero goals in tjis match. This win finally will lift Barky in appreciation on level he deserves. He is the leader and most comprehensive and versatile hockey player atm in NHL.
They were not underdogs. And even Vegas had the odds at even. Only Canadians thought Florida - the most physical and best defensive team all year - would somehow be underdogs. Thanks to Edmonton for their help solidifying the state of Florida as a home for superior hockey.

Those panthers remembered what it was like last year to get that far and get blown out. They definitely had that in their minds and used it as motivation for this go round. I’ve always respected stuff like that. I do have to give credit to the Oilers as well for fighting back from down 3-0. That’s not a common thing nor is it easy. And I know we all dog on Skinner but he played his heart out in games 4-7 and just barely lost at the end. Would’ve been nice for him if his skilled forwards scored some more goals but Bobrovsky is arguably the best playoff goalie in modern NHL history. Great series between two really good teams and a sledge hammer of a game 7 in the finals. That’s what hockey’s all about!
Well I said at the beginning Panthers were the better team, albeit I thought the series was gonna lend at game 5 or 6. The Oilers pushed it, and I will say they did a lot better than I expected. McDavid and Dresaityl are fantastic players. At the end, it came down to who had the better overall team. The defense and Bobrosky were on point and the Oilers/Skinner fell short.
Oilers losing two games they should have won was the difference in Oilers not taking the cup at home in 5 or 6, Panthers had much less pressure and expectations specially after going up 3 0 they could just relax while Oilers have most of the media attention on how they're going to respond with the cup on the line for 3 games straight. In the final a winning team could only afford to lose 2 games not 3 in a row.
I usually hate the Oilers but I respect how they battled back and I was rooting for them to make history. Poor Micdavid carried that team, if they had better goaltending and d they'd be unstoppable for years. Congrats to Florida though, they came alive in the last game and learned but wow, amazing series and this is why hockey is the best sport out there.
I don’t think people can hate on Skinner anymore. He’s proved his worth. Oilers better win next year or find the money to pay him because someone is gonna offer him a better deal and all the oilers money is tied up in Nurse…

@@abtdpx3818 Forsling made the huge defensive play in front of the Florida net when McDavid had a massive opportunity to tie the game right there....I honestly believe McDavid would have scored the tying goal if Forsling doesn't get there to prevent the scoring play from happening....that was probably the Oilers' best chance in the 3rd to at least tie the game & maybe get that last push late in regulation. Oilers had a whole host of chances in that 3rd period, but the Panthers, as they've done for the better part of two playoff seasons, protected the lead they had in the 3rd period. That late 2nd-period goal from Reinhart was just what the Panthers needed, giving them the lead after 40 minutes, & they rarely ever lose when leading after 40 minutes the past couple of seasons & they did just that once again in the 3rd period of Game 7. Heck of a series as it turned out between two really good teams.

Sadly no. Last Canadian team Canucks made finals then took 2 decades to make another final only to lose again. Same with Oilers makes finals then 2 decades later they make finals again but lost today. The other teams Ottawa Montreal won't taste another final in a long time.

The amount of minutes Barkov matched against McDavid, resulting in 0+0. In the end Barkov really took the team on his back and maybe did not lead them to the cup, but at least guided them and made way for Reinhart & co. Barkov deserved the Conn Smythe as much as McDavid. Both led their team into three awesome games and 3 poor games, and when it all mattered, Barkov did what he wanted to do, and McDavid what he could do.

at the end of the day Florida in game 7 shut down Micdavid, Drysaitl, Nugent and Hyman. That's pretty impressive to keep the Oil to 1 goal in a game 7. Great series, loved every minute of it.

Bob was undoubtedly the Smythe winner. McDavid was held scoreless in 3 of the 7 most important games of his life plus scoreless in both of his team's game 7's. Bob only let in one goal in each of his series deciding games and McDavid averaged only one point in his deciding games. Bob was there when it mattered most, McDavid not so much. I have a feeling that McDavid did not win the Hart or Lindsey and this is the consolation.

As a hockey fan from Canada, with a father who was born and raised in Edmonton, this is a tough loss. However, this was one of the most intensely fought game 7's we've witnessed in a decade, and full credit to Florida for pulling through against all odds, facing a reverse sweep! Congrats Florida on their first Stanley Cup! McDavid and co. will surely have their chance again! What a game, this will go down as one of the best Stanley Cup series for a while.

Guys, can we show some humility no matter what type of fan we are? As a Canadian, I wished Edmonton would win and end the cup drought, but the Panthers were the better team tonight. I used to think that way. If a team came back from that much they'd probably win. But pro sports and hockey especially has changed. Just far too much luck involved and teams are psychologically a lot better than they used to be. I figured this game 7 was virtually 50/50. The Panthers would be totally embarrassed about dropping 3 straight so would play much better and the Oilers would not stop believing they had a chance. Oilers maybe had a slight mental edge going into the game but the first goal probably erased that feeling pretty quick.
As a canuck fan I too am happy the Oil lost, but they definitely earned my respect with the 3 game comeback and with their game 6 and 7 wins against the canucks. Prior to that I thought they were frauds with no disciplined systems play. Somehow they found it, and at the right time.
Lu hoisting the cup was awesome. So happy for him. Now hopefully this canucks core can do that for the twins.

Congrats to Panthers for a great fight. They were underdogs in this match too, but Bob played great game.
McDavid deserved the Conns Smythe Trophy. Without him Oilers never been this far. They fought as a team in the end. They were the more dominant team in the series.
But championships are often won by defending. Like Panthers did in this match.
They did not loose any 3rd period out of 69 games in regular time this season. Four overtime losses only. Thats quite an achievement.
Matias Järnmark was their best player in this game. He was close to score 2nd goal too. Close margins, one goal game.
Credit also to Eetu Luostarinen 🇫🇮. He blocked shots and was a key player to kill Oiler's power play. Zero goals in tjis match.
This win finally will lift Barky in appreciation on level he deserves. He is the leader and most comprehensive and versatile hockey player atm in NHL.
Indeed the Favorites did not win in this game.
They were not underdogs. And even Vegas had the odds at even. Only Canadians thought Florida - the most physical and best defensive team all year - would somehow be underdogs.

Those panthers remembered what it was like last year to get that far and get blown out. They definitely had that in their minds and used it as motivation for this go round. I’ve always respected stuff like that.
I do have to give credit to the Oilers as well for fighting back from down 3-0. That’s not a common thing nor is it easy. And I know we all dog on Skinner but he played his heart out in games 4-7 and just barely lost at the end. Would’ve been nice for him if his skilled forwards scored some more goals but Bobrovsky is arguably the best playoff goalie in modern NHL history.
Great series between two really good teams and a sledge hammer of a game 7 in the finals. That’s what hockey’s all about!
They still got blown away most games, but one thing kept them believing is being 3 0 and knowing Oilers have all the pressure and media attention.
Well I said at the beginning Panthers were the better team, albeit I thought the series was gonna lend at game 5 or 6. The Oilers pushed it, and I will say they did a lot better than I expected. McDavid and Dresaityl are fantastic players.
At the end, it came down to who had the better overall team. The defense and Bobrosky were on point and the Oilers/Skinner fell short.
Oilers losing two games they should have won was the difference in Oilers not taking the cup at home in 5 or 6, Panthers had much less pressure and expectations specially after going up 3 0 they could just relax while Oilers have most of the media attention on how they're going to respond with the cup on the line for 3 games straight. In the final a winning team could only afford to lose 2 games not 3 in a row.
I usually hate the Oilers but I respect how they battled back and I was rooting for them to make history. Poor Micdavid carried that team, if they had better goaltending and d they'd be unstoppable for years. Congrats to Florida though, they came alive in the last game and learned but wow, amazing series and this is why hockey is the best sport out there.

I don’t think people can hate on Skinner anymore. He’s proved his worth. Oilers better win next year or find the money to pay him because someone is gonna offer him a better deal and all the oilers money is tied up in Nurse…

@pinch1loaf Skinner played better than Bob in 5 games of the series the debate of him being a bad goalie is over next year they're prime to win again it's a team game they have all the pieces and the money to resign some exciting players they recently acquired on short-term deals.
