Excellent video, be sure to do a bulkhead drain on both of those! The original Cayenne has a proper low range transfer case a locking differentials. It's an amazing machine with uncompromising build quality.
Much thought was put into which one to buy, it was the 2009 957 Turbo S, this is the one where they got it right, no regrets, 550hp, active suspension and head height in the rear seats. It's a pity you didn't mention the 957 but jumped to the 958. It's like going from the the almost best model, missing out on the best then to the new version that still has teething problems like cam bearing bolt failure etc.
I ove an old one, same as on video, just black, and 20' wheels, and IMHO, it's much better looking car, in terms of fear factor (for other people on road)

The 957 was very different to drive - the drive train was more solid. No rolling backwards at hill-starts but not as good traction off-road or in snow. The 957 had more mechanical and less drive-by-wire steering feel than the 958. But the new one has more power, more refined interior, far better sound system!, FAR better PDC and PTV+ and just overall better stability. Given a choice I wouldn't go back to the old one.
Good review but you completely skipped over the existence of the 957 (2008 onwards) which had the more powerful 500 HP 700 NM engine in a face-lifted body of the original 955........ Before the cayenne was completely changed and began to look like an Infiniti SUV (Current generation: 958)
Are there any major problems with 3.2 V6 engines from 2002 ? I know only about weak chain tensioners. I would like to have it with manual transmission and NOT air suspension. Will it be reliable car ?
EEuh waarom geen test met de 2008 versie ? jullie rijden met het aller eerste model er zijn er ondertussen al 3 geweest. Ik heb de 2008 versie 550 pk getuned tot 630...LOve it.. nieuw model ziet er teveel uit als een Honda of toyota ....pfff nieks....
Ik vind de achterkant van de nieuwe echt lelijk, die achterlichten slaan nergens op. De oude heeft een paar jaar terug (2-3 jaar dacht ik) een facelift gehad, die achterlichten en dan de voorkant van de nieuwe, dat zou mijn droomauto zijn!

I Think the old one looks better it looks alot better from behind
That is why PORSCHE copied its pipes for the 2019 model.... but also made the backlights look as a TOURAN or BENZ SUV. The ORIGINAL is the original !

The best Cayennes made were the 957 2008-2010.
JAY T the ones with direct injection that sludges up the valves. That's the exact reason I bought the original 4.5 V8 as that problem doesn't exist!
